Reunited

"Vergil, wake up. Why are you sleeping in your first class?" A sound and shaking woke me up from my deep slumber.

I opened my eyes to see a 'child' shouting at me while shaking me. She has a brown hair and green eyes.

"Hm? Little lady, this is not your class, this is for high-school students." My unconscious words stabbed the 'child' in her heart and immediately sent a slap towards me which I completely evaded by raising my head up causing the 'child' to slam my desk so hard.

A loud bang was produced and a deep palm was etched in my desk. Meanwhile the child's palm was hurting and bright red.

'Eh? Am I half-awake? Isn't this the teacher who came with the students? If I remember correctly, Aiko- something. But why is her hands red? Heck, there's a mark on my desk.' I thought and pieced the puzzle as I was enlightened on what happened.

The class were in shock as well after hearing my earlier 'insult' to Aiko, especially Shizuku, since they all knew that my guy is the silent type and would never speak unless necessary.

"Vergil-san... I think you should apologize to Aiko-sensei..." Hajime brought me to a question of why should I? I then looked at Aiko's tearful expression from pain, and anger. My brain then picked up the memory before I fully woke up.

'Oh.' It was all the thought that passed through my mind. I then looked at Aiko who's staring daggers at me.

"I'm sorry, Aiko-sensei. I was half-asleep when I said that." I said as I stood up and bowed towards Aiko who softened after hearing my apology. Hajime sent me a thumbs up under his desk so that I could see it and I simply chuckled at it.

"I-its fine. But there will be no next time, okay?" Aiko said and got back to the podium and continued teaching.

Time quickly passed by and it was time for lunch.

'Crap, I made a blunder. I didn't bring myself something to eat. I even forgot my wallet, what a crappy day.' I thought as I stood up to go to the rooftop to nap and pass time, I'm not that hungry after all.

Before I stood up, Hajime grabbed my arm and as I turned up, I saw him handing me a sandwich making me tilt my head a little.

"I noticed that you forgot to bring your lunch, so I thought of sharing mine." Hajime said in a low voice. Albeit a little timid, Hajime never lost his self-confidence since Hiyama and his gang haven't bullied him that much as an entity called Vergil is protecting Hajime from his bullies.

"Thanks, but I'm fine, really. I'm going to have some fresh air." I said as I turned up and coincidentally saw Shizuku looking my way while Kaori and his friends were chatting. After meeting my gaze, Shizuku turned away as if she was busy chatting with her friends.

I left my seat and went to the rooftop at my own pace. Many students were clogging the hallway, talking about individual topics while the girls were talking about, of course, girl's talk.

Back at the classroom, Kaori turned her head to Shizuku and whispered.

"Let's go to the restroom." Shizuku nodded and followed Kaori to the restroom leaving Kouki and Ryutarou by themselves.

"Is there something wrong, Shizuku? Why do you look nervous and flustered?" Kaori asked Shizuku as she was startled.

"I-its nothing." Shizuku replied making Kaori look at her suspiciously.

"Is it about Vergil-san again?" Kaori said which made Shizuku tremble.

"N-no, it's not." She did her best to stay composed and not leak anything.

"I've known you for quite a long time already to know your tells, Shizuku. You said he was a precious friend you once had that you lost. Sometimes you should just take off your mask and just talk to him. You're a smart one, Shizuku, so you must know what to do." Kaori winked at Shizuku who was looking a little lost as Kaori left her to run to the rest room.

Gathering her thoughts, Shizuku breathed and calmed herself down.

'That's right, why should I be afraid?' Shizuku slapped her cheeks and went to the rooftop because she heard me saying that I'm going out for some fresh air.

"Hm? What a surprise." I looked at the person standing when I was about to nap.

"Black? Aren't you a bold one?" I said while the person tried to stomp on me which I evaded by turning my head a little.

'Feisty.' I thought of saying that aloud but I stopped as she stared daggers at me. Closing my eyes and sighing, I changed my position and sat down with one leg as a support. (HunterxHunter's signature seating position xD)

"Shameless." The person muttered and stomped once more as I stood up from my sitting position as I faced her.

"How am I shameless? I just spoke facts. Its not my problem that you're standing there and showed me quite a sight." I said while the person gritted her teeth.

"So, may I know your business with me, Yaegashi-san?" I said as I raised my head and met her beautiful red eyes.

Although my guy and Shizuku are childhood friends, only Shizuku manage to remember when they met because of my hair and unique name. My guy haven't remembered Shizuku but who could blame him? The Shizuku he knew and the Shizuku in front of me is way different especially in the chest department. She bloomed into a beauty and how could my guy know that she's his childhood friend since everything about her changed.

"It's been a long time since we've met." Shizuku muttered while I kept an uninterested face.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I shrugged since I only met her now, it was the truth as well as a false statement since my guy is Shizuku's childhood friend.

"Why are you playing dumb?" Shizuku asked a little sad from being denied.

"That should be a question I should be asking you. Why are you playing dumb?" My words shook Shizuku to the core. She trembled as guilt once again started eating her from inside.

"I-" Before she managed to reply, I cut her off by speaking.

"How have you been?" I said as I smiled towards her. I don't really have a prejudice against her for distancing herself from my guy. My guy doesn't hate her either as he treated her as a passing person in his life and didn't really dwell on it too much.

Shizuku couldn't hold it anymore as tears started streaming down her face as she rushed towards me and hugged me.

Of course, who am I to decline such an offer?

"I- I'm sorry!" Shizuku apologized to me as I rubbed her back with my hands. Others might not have known it but I definitely felt Kaori's presence leaning on the door to the rooftop.

"Why are you apologizing?" I asked her back innocently.

"Be - because..." She didn't manage to form her words as I cut her off once again.

"Its all in the past. You should be looking at the present while looking forward at the future." I said with a calm soothing voice making Shizuku smile a little but her smile turned into embarrassment at my next words.

"Haven't you seen enough?" I said while looking at the door.

"Oops, busted." Kaori said while sticking her tongue out while holding a mischievous gaze towards Shizuku who immediately separated as she turned her back on the door while wiping her face quickly.

"Hehe, it seems like Shizuku is also a girl with feelings." She said while looking at Shizuku who was silently wiping her face.

"She's a bold one, that's for sure." I chimed in causing Shizuku to snap and stomped her feet towards me angrily. This time, I didn't dodge as I let her vent all her frustrations.

"Oh my. A lover's quarrel." Kaori said while Shizuku finally turned and tried to save herself.

"T-this isn't what you think, Kaori!" Shizuku said with pleading eyes.

"What is it then?" Her eyes had some kind of playfulness within.

"Vergil's just my childhood friend!" Shizuku said while I rained on her parade.

"A childhood friend who just hugged me really tight." Shizuku stormed her way out of the roof top while glaring hatefully towards me.

"You're not gonna hurt her, are you?" Kaori asked me while I just shrugged.

"We're not in that kind of relationship, its just that our friendship ended in a dramatic way. How about you and Hajime? Any progress?" I said with a smirk.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Kaori said coolly.

"Hm? I guess, you, learning the ways of an otaku is considered an advance towards him?" My smirk still plastered on my face.

"That strap you have on your bag-" I didn't get to finish my words when Kaori cut my words.

"W-what are you talking about? I don't know about it." Kaori's face said it all as she turned heels and went out of the rooftop but her ears were crimson red from embarrassment.

"Have a taste of your own medicine. Mada-mada dane." I smirked while going back to laid down position.
