"Landing a punch?" Katherine asked.
The commander in front of her smirked. His eyes shone with smugness and Katherine put on a fake smile to hide the disgust she was feeling towards this man.
Why was Delilah seriously head over heels for this ugly duckling personality? She wondered before looking at her hands.
Recently she got 10 increased points in strength, no? Those ten points should have improved something in her body. If she uses the right technique and puts all her remaining strength into it, she might actually get it done.
Katherine nodded at herself. However, her relief was cut short when she noticed that Prince Elwin wasn't in the area. Then again this all shouldn't be happening if he was here.
But what if he is the one who enters the area? No. That would create more problems for her and her points would be deducted. Katherine pressed her lips into a thin line, her heartbeat increasing its pace anxiously.
The commander, who could clearly hear her high heartbeat, smirked.
He knew she was all show and just trying to get this attention. There was no way she would try something like that.
"I think you are taking things overboard," One of the men said, but one glare from the commander, and the guy immediately looked away.
Katherine looked at the commander and noticed his force in the area without the presence of the prince.
She could see that if she failed at this task, there would be no way he would let her work and train in peace. No matter who the person is, she would have to punch the next man who enters the area.
Katherine's fists clenched.
'This is a bad decision,' Daisy reminded her, and Katherine nodded at the demonic system.
'I know. However, I would rather face the consequences of my actions rather than being called a coward,' Katherine said to the system, praying to the moon goddess to let it be someone weak.
"Holy sh*t," one of the men commented, and Katherine looked into his shocked eyes, her body freezing.
This expression only meant that the person behind her was really someone she shouldn't truffle with.
She looked down at her feet, disappointed that the moon goddess didn't listen to her for once.
The commander also gulped when he looked at the man who was entering the area from some distance.
"Miss Delilah, you -" The commander started.
Katherine sighed before looking up.
The commander was about to say that she didn't need to go and hit this person and create problems for the entire team of soldiers, but Katherine, who thought he was going to mock her, turned around, her breath hitching when she looked at who it actually was.
She noticed the same mysterious man with the most enchanting blue eyes walking towards the zone with a deadly serious expression on his face that said 'Touch me and die,'
'Katherine, are you seriously thinking of it?' the system asked, and Katherine hummed.
"It's a do-or-die situation," Katherine whispered.
Everyone thought that Miss Delilah wouldn't make the mistake of trying to punch the elder Prince's secretary, who was also known as the strongest man in the entire royal army. The prince and he never fought out of respect, but many wondered that this secretary was stronger than Prince Elwin.
They were sure Miss Delilah would say no to this task now and stop disturbing their training, but to everyone's surprise, Delilah stepped back before she took a deep breath and ran towards the man the fastest she could.
The mysterious man, who was walking toward the soldiers, angry that all of them were standing and looking at a girl rather than training, paused in his place when he saw the girl running towards him in full swing.
"What is she trying?" Jacob asked behind him, but the man didn't react.
He kept looking into her eyes, his left brow quirking when he saw her right-hand fisting.
Everything was happening in slow motion for him, and he had all the chances to dodge what the girl was trying to do, but he kept standing in his place, wanting to see if the girl would really dare it.
Katherine, who could see the sense of recognition in the man's eyes and that the man knew what she was trying to do and still wasn't moving, felt surprised by his action.
"Dodge!" Katherine shouted.
The man kept looking at her observantly, ready to hold her fist in his gloved hands now that she said she wanted him to stop it.
She increased her pace, but rather than punching him directly in the chest as everyone thought she would do, Katherine turned and jumped on the tree, taking the reaction force from the trunk as she jumped in the air to hit the man in full swing she could.
It was an awesome move for someone who didn't train and everyone was left shocked, including the mysterious man.
The man didn't move from his place, feeling lost for a second in her rebellious and resolute eyes, an expression that he was seeing in someone after a really long time.
It was the same expression that he once saw in a girl a few years ago. It felt like deja vu hitting him.
Same expression, the same technique, and the same fire in her eyes. Though he could clearly see that it was a different girl and eyes, for some reason, he felt a sense of familiarity in them.
The mysterious man kept looking at her and rather than dodging her attack like everyone thought he would do as the fastest man who could even dodge a bullet, he took her attack.
Katherine's punch landed in the middle of the man's chest, and he stumbled back slightly to ease her attack and cause less damage to the girl.
Crack!
The sickening sound of some bones breaking echoed in the air.
Everyone gasped along with Katherine.
Her hand hurt like hell, but seeing how the man stumbled back, she looked at him wide-eyed.
'I knew those 10 points in strength would help me, but I didn't know my punch was this powerful,' Katherine smiled proudly, her smile freezing when she looked at the man's deadly expression.
"Oh my, I am so sorry. Did I break something? It's just that the commander said -"
"It's your hand" The man in front of her spoke for the first time, his deep chocolaty voice full of cold dominance, making her widen her eyes.
"What?" Katherine looked at him shocked.
He could speak?
But wait. Why was her hand hurting so much? Her face contorted in pain.
'It's not his bones that you broke, Katherine. You broke your finger bones, you stupid girl,' Daisy scowled at her, making Katherine finally understand why she was feeling the excruciating pain in her hand.
She immediately held her hand, biting her lips to stop the scream she wanted to let out.
"F*ck! Are you built of steel or something!" Katherine groaned before falling to her knees, catching everyone off-guard with her foul language.
"Miss Delilah -" Jacob started, but to his surprise, the mysterious man held Katherine's good hand and forced her to stand, taking her away from the area, catching everyone off-guard for the third time in the same hour.
