The mysterious man didn't stop. He kept pulling her, walking in large steps until they were near the infirmary. However, rather than taking her inside, he stopped behind the entrance.
"What are you-" Katherine couldn't complete her sentence because the next second, the mysterious man held her good hand and pulled her close, twisting it behind her back before pushing her into the wall, making her gasp slightly.
She didn't expect him to behave like this at all.
He looked at her intensely.
His blue orbs enchanted her as if telling her a story that she should hear without him speaking anything about it. His brows were furrowed, his proximity making Katherine admire the beauty in front of her.
She took a deep breath and a soft smile appeared on her lips.
"What is it?" Katherine asked, not breaking eye contact even when the pain in her hand was killing her.
"What were you trying to do there? Have you completely lost it?" The man finally asked her, but rather than waiting for her answer, he took her inside the infirmary.
"Sir, is something wrong?" The doctor immediately stood from its place and rushed to the duo.
"Is something wrong with Miss Delilah? Is she-" The doctor started, but stopped when he noticed that the duo wasn't even looking at him.
None of them answered anything.
The man pulled her all the way to the bed and made her sit on it before pulling a medical box from the drawer.
"Give me your hand," The mysterious man said.
"Don't you already have that?" She mused, motioning to his hand that was still holding her left hand, and the man clenched his jaws before leaving her hand.
"Why did you punch me when you don't even have the strength to hurt a fly? Do you even know the consequences of your actions? I could've killed you the moment your fist touched me," The mysterious man observed her hand, trying to move her muscles before looking at the doctor.
"Her wrist bone has dislocated from its place and the middle bone of the ring finger is broken. We would need to do an x-ray," He said before holding Katherine's hand and pulling her towards the X-ray machine.
"But you didn't hurt me. I am sitting in front of you, alive. In fact, you are worried about me, aren't you?" Katherine tried to look into his eyes again, gritting her teeth in displeasure when she saw him looking at the doctor.
"Take off your ornaments," the man said, and Katherine, who was observing him intensely, hummed.
"Take it off for me. As you can see, I won't be able to unlock it without my single hand that you are holding again," Katherine deliberately teased, and feeling the dark energy radiating from the elder king's secretary, the infamous dangerous soldier, the doctor immediately rushed to help the girl.
"Let me help you with that," The doctor said, and the man let go of her hand.
The doctor helped the bracelet out of her hands before taking off the ring from her index fingers.
After taking the x-ray, Katherine walked back to the bed while the doctor examined her reports.
"Do you love the commander that much? You are ready to risk your life again and again for him. First, you want to die at the cliff because he rejected you and now you punched me even when -" The man started.
"Has anyone told you, you have the most enchanting pair of eyes?" Katherine asked, making the man pause.
His expression turned even more grave.
"Don't interrupt me when I am speaking," he seethed through his teeth, his deep voice making her smile.
"Then don't say absurd things. Do I love the commander? I don't. I don't know what stupid part of my heart and brain was infatuated with him. Maybe it was because I saw him as my knight in shining armor," Katherine paused before sighing.
"When you are not fed love from a spoon, you learn to lick it off knives," She whispered, relating to her past life.
The mysterious man looked at her observantly as she kept talking about things.
"All those things aside, I did it this time because that jerk-" Katherine paused.
"Don't mind my language, okay?" Katherine asked, and the man who was surprised at the sight of this new girl in front of him, nodded.
This was definitely the same Miss Delilah he knew.
"Yeah, as I was saying. I just wanted to train in peace since I am done being called weak. But that jerk came and told me I couldn't train there because he thought I was there for him. The nerve of that arsehole!
He told me if I wanted to train in the area and for him to believe me that I wasn't there for him, I had to punch the first man who would walk through that area. And guess what? It turned out to be you," Katherine said.
She turned her hand slightly as the doctor placed the cast on her hand for five days since her healing wasn't normal like other wolves.
"By the way, you clearly know what I was doing, no? Why didn't you dodge my attack? You stood there, taking my hit. What were you thinking?" Katherine asked, looking at the man inquisitively.
"I am not answerable to you," The man dismissed her question, and Katherine hummed.
"That's true too. So, what were you thinking again?" Katherine asked again.
The man looked at her and rolled his eyes.
"Now that I think about it, why do you keep arriving around me whenever I am in a problem? You sent me on the horse. Heck, it was a freaking royal Friesian. Why do you care so much about Delilah, I mean the awesome person I am?" Katherine covered her slip up and looked at the man who scoffed at her.
She didn't stop there.
If he thought that was the only thing she caught, he was wrong.
"Even when saving me you got quite some deadly wounds. If your head had hit the rock instead of your shoulders, it would've ended the game. Why take such a risk to save a girl who was committing suicide anyway?" Katherine asked one after the other, her spy brain working more accurately now that she tried to look at things in that manner.
"Is her treatment done?" The man asked, and the doctor nodded after some time.
Once the doctor gave them a green signal, the man grabbed her hand again and pulled her out of the infirmary, not saying anything.
'Katherine, stop it, you -' Daisy started when she noticed Katherine was trying to start a story that wasn't written in Delilah's destiny.
However, it was too late to warn her now.
"You are not answering me," Katherine said again.
The man who was losing his patience with her, squared his jaws before slamming her into the wall, making her heart thump loudly as she looked into his eyes which were starting to gray and a little bit of hazel.
Her senses turned wild as they sensed danger from this guy.
"Do you want to know why I always appear around you? It's because I don't trust you. You are hiding something from all of us. I don't like the energies around you, the feel of an other-worldly presence around you," The man looked straight into her eyes, wrapping his fingers around her throat.
Katherine gulped at his words. There was no way he was able to feel Daisy or that she wasn't Delilah, right?
"I don't know what it is, but the day I find out the truth, I will throw you out of this palace because you don't belong here," The man said.
He thought the girl in front of him would get scared like she always used to flinch when someone used to raise their voice at her.
But to his surprise, Katherine only smiled.
However, there was no amusement in her eyes. She was smiling in mockery.
"Is that so? Okay," Katherine said before she placed her left hand on his hand and gently removed it from around her throat.
"I will wait for that day," Katherine started moving ahead before she paused.
"By the way, what's your name? I keep calling you that man in my head. It's pretty tiring," Katherine said before she smiled and left, without hearing his reply.
