Chapter 5

1999

Two years passed like a flash. Ren and Azzy have had their time and enjoyment with Pokémon Red. After Azzy completed his file he handed off the Gameboy to Ren who chose Charmander to start off with. AZURE this time 'round chose Squirtle, a choice the real Azzy shoved off with a brusk sound. Playing through the game itself was an entirely different experience to watching Azzy play.

Ren got enveloped in the world. He watched the world around him be swallowed by the mania that the Pokémon series brought. He stopped by public buildings with access television to stare at the commercials for the new games: Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver. Both shimmered across the screen and the two birds that emblazoned the front of each cover engrossed him entirely. Both of them looked MILES better than the starting Pokémon for Red and Blue. Ren knew he had to have it.

Little did he know how much this desire would be satisfied.
