The Interview

Ben was seated at his desk when Mason came in, he was surprised to see his boss arrive that early. Mason had given him instructions in clipped tones, the man he had been asked to investigate, Bryan Holding would be coming in that morning for an interview and Ben was to let him in, no questions asked. This instruction puzzled Ben, he wasn't aware that the organization needed a new employee and even if it did Mason wasn't in charge of hiring but his job wasn't to questions orders from Mason. He shrugged and put the issue out of his mind, in any case he would find out what was going on soon enough.

Ben was lost in his work when light taps on his desk alerted him to the fact that someone was in front of him. He looked up and recognize that rugged but somehow handsome face immediately, his eyes flicked to his wristwatch and he saw that it was almost 9am, Bryan Holding was more than 30 minutes late and his boss detested tardiness. He smoothed his expression and pretended not to know the man in front of him "Can I help you?" He said politely. Bryan chuckled and leaned on Ben's desk ignoring the look of disapproval that crossed the latter's face "I'm Bryan, your boss should be expecting me, it's kinda important. In fact I believe he should have mentioned it to you". Ben raised an eyebrow at the man's cockiness, he really had some nerve for a job seeker, he wasn't even appropriately dressed. "Ah yes, Mr Bryan Holding, your appointment was 40 minutes ago, you're over 30 minutes late" he said sternly, no matter who this man was to his boss, there was still need for propriety. The corner of Bryan's mouth pulled up in a smirk "I'm sure that won't be problem Mr secretary"

Evans was on his way to Mason's office, he had some things to discuss with his friend both business and otherwise. Mason owed him an explanation for his recent behavior. He quickened his steps eager to see his friend. Ahead he could see Ben talking to some guy, the man was leaning on Ben's desk resting his elbows on the desk and his jaw on his hands. Evans was surprised, normally all employees behaved strictly according to work etiquette, they didn't usually stand around and converse during work hours, he felt slightly disappointed to have caught the CEO's secretary lacking. As he approached them he became certain that the man talking to Ben was no employee, he was wearing ripped jeans and a leather jacket which he was pretty sure wasn't a formal attire.

"So you can just send me right ahead to the big boss. He's expecting me…heck he practically begged me to come" Evans heard the man saying with a smirk on his face.

This wasn't the first time some good for nothing low life tried to talk their way into either his or Mason's office hoping to squeeze some money out of them or convince them to invest in some crazy either of theirs. He chuckled inwardly expecting Ben to pick up the phone beside him and call security. "Of course Mr Bryan you can go in". Evans was shocked, who was this Bryan guy and how did Mason know him "Now wait a minute Ben, you can't possibly allow him into Mason's office, you know this isn't the first time something like this would happen although they don't usually get past reception" Evans said haughtily. Bryan straightened and turned to face the newcomer "And who are you to tell me where I can or cannot be allowed into?" His tone wasn't threatening but it was smug and it pissed Evans off, this man really was overconfident for someone trying to swindle his way into a CEO's office. He straightened and glared at Bryan "The co-CEO of this organization. Now get the hell out before I have you thrown out"
