The first trait(2)

Thursday morning came and, with it, a newly gained fresh feeling filled Calvin with peace of mind and a bit of confusion.

He couldn't get the voice out of his head. It told him that he completed something and, the more he focused on it, the more he felt like he could hear it clearly but, everytime he nears the end of the sentence, his focus breaks and he forgets everything about it.

But, without caring much about it for now, he walked outside his room and met with his friends at one of the facilities.

When he arrived, only Alphonse was there, waiting while leisurely reading a book about traits and their ways of activation.

As an adventurer academy, the school needed to show them how to use traits and one of the book required for said class was in Alphonse's hands right now.

-"Already reading through this year's classes huh? I never understood how you managed to not get bored reading these textbooks."

-"They're quite fun actually. It helps you learn." Alphonse responded in a slow neutral tone.

-"So anyway, did you understand how to visualize your traits yet? I mean, you're quite far in the book so I imagine you did some progress."

Calvin was intrigued on how to visualize his abilities. He had so many questions about yesterday and why his color only showed Grey when he was clearly more powerful than that.

-"Not really, no. I think I'd need an outer source of mana to activate mine or shake it around a bit so that I can sense it."

Alphonse was staring at Calvin with a weird look, that said, find a way.

-"Are you sure you need outside help to do it? Have you tried anything else?"

-"Well, that's what the book says, and yes I tried, I don't leave things to luck, you know."

The two of them chit chatted a bit until Leo appeared and was as loud as ever.

He asked the same thing as Calvin, as to why Alphonse was reading the textbook but when he was told about the problem of visualizing, he suddenly had an idea.

-"Can't we let Calvin punch you?"

Calvin and Alphonse both did a 180 and looked at Leo as if he was the dumbest kid in kindergarten.

-"Don't look at me like that! Calvin used his trait yesterday to punch Alex, he can use his trait on you and since you need mana for a trait to work it could possibly move yours around right? Right?"

Alex was half serious, half questioning himself but, Alphonse, for once, thought that Leo came up with a good idea.

He turned towards Calvin and asked the following absurdity: Punch me.

He was dead serious. If he only needed to get punched to be ahead of his peers and know his traits, he would do it. What's more, if he was injured or bruised, he could go to the infirmary.

-"Are you seriously considering his idea? You really want me to punch you?" asked Calvin, incredulous.

-"Yes, and do it hard please!"

Alphonse was starting to beg Calvin to punch him and Leo was on the side cheering for it.

-"Are you both dumb? Do you really think me punching you would help you visualize?"

Alphonse put both his hands on Calvin's face and asked him, while staring in his eyes like he was his father.

-"Punch me!"

With that, Calvin didn't even bother to prepare or tell him to brace himself and simply jolted out a powerful punch to Alphonse's face.

The impact was hard and it did make Alphonse back a feet or two from the shock, but he didn't get the result he wanted.

Leo looked at Alphonse on the floor, which made him laugh. His dumb idea made enough sense for him to volontarly get hurt.

Alphonse was looking around, with a blurry vision and let out a soft moan of pain before fainting.

After Leo's quick laugh and Calvin's light slap to wake up Alphonse, the trio went to find a nurse to fix the bruise he just got.

In a complete luck of fate, they found a nurse who also happened to be the same as last time.

She took quick notice of the bruise and healed it in an instant all the while giving remarks such as: "You may be young but you shouldn't fight everyday" or "You will learn how to use your traits starting tommorow, no need to fight now to find out."

She was pressing the don't fight notion on them and that they would learn with time and experience but, for the three of them who were eager to learn, the rest of the day was quite possibly the longest in their entire lives.

When Friday morning came, every first year students woke up early. They were all excited and some of them even wanted to go to class earlier, so that they could chose their seats.

The groups were divided in seven classes : F, E, D, C, B, A and S. This system helped the advanced students' growth while having a slower pace with the weakest.

Obviously, it wasn't as easy as it looked and so, the grade that the class had didn't represent the real battle power that it's students had.

For the first trimester of the first year though, it would be really simple, if you had good traits you would be in the better classes and so, Calvin was in the F class.

He still didn't understand why, but he left it as it is for now, since it would only be for the first trimester.

He headed to his class, which he could see on his school phone.

It was in a secluded part of the school, which made it hard to find, but it was in a really good state.

The whole school was kept up to date with the best technologies and it had frequent renovations to keep it fresh and clean and, it looked like his class had just been renovated.

He entered the almost empty classroom to find about a dozen of other students all looking like rich bastard.

They almost all had that "I'm better than you" attitude but it made sense since the F class was for the worst graded students, who could only stay at the school because of their backgrounds and families.

He made his way to the back, where he settled down with his backpack.

He checked his phone to see what was the class topic and felt lucky since the title of it was "Learning about traits" it was in this class that he would learn to visualize and have a quick history of how humans came to gain traits.

Calvin was really looking forward to start the class but when a person, who looked to be a teacher entered, he soon lost hope.
