The first trait(1)

Calvin left the elevator to join his friends and started asking questions.

-"So, how much time did you wait for me?"

-"Not long really, around ten minutes."

-"Did you guys visit the place a bit or...?"

Leo, with a smile on his face, cut him and said:

-"We found out we were knocked out for almost two days..."

-"Ye, I know that already but..."

-"... and we found the cafeteria!"

Brrghl. Calvin's stomach gurgled and a primal instinct in him made him ask directly where it was.

Leo and Alphonse who didn't eat either told him to follow them and the trio went to the cafeteria.

The campus was divided in five sections, lodging, with the dorms, training, with specialized device to work on yourself, crafting, to learn any craft out there, the school itself, with the classes, and "village", where the cafeteria was and other students and third party related people could sell and buy stuff.

The cafeteria was a one story building ran by the school. The food they made for the students was free but you could only get the good one if you were strong or influential.

So, when they arrived in, they went in line and waited a bit, since half the first years were here.

When their turn came, they all picked out the best food they could get and all they had to do was show their crest.

The lunch lady first denied the food Leo and Alphonse were asking but when Calvin stepped in, she let them have it without trouble.

This was how much influence the argonite outline had.

The three of them sat at a near table and talked about random stuff while eating.

-"Mmh! By the way, Calvin did you forget to pick your new uniform?" Alphonse asked with a mouthful of his lunch.

-"Ye, now that I think about it, it makes no sense that you're a Grey color. So, what's your real grade?" Leo asked right after.

Calvin stayed silent and looked down. He didn't want his friends to leave him because he was a Grey color and didn't talk about this topic before for that reason.

Their intense gaze pierced his eyes. He felt the same pressure from before.

Calvin lifted his head, looked at them with the best smile he could make and said:

-"I'm an A Orange, the school just didn't give me the right uniform yet."

-"That makes way more sense. On the other side, me and Alphonse got bad luck. I'm a B Blue and he's a C Yellow."

-"Stop there. You were down on your luck! My C Yellow is really good for a normal person like me, OK?"

...

The two of them then fought for a bit over who was right and the three of them chose to go visit the campus together.

They now mostly knew where to go for whatever they would need and where their classes were.

The sun was starting to get low so they started to be on their way to their dorm. Since Calvin's dorm was nearer than theirs, they decided to follow him to his dorm before going to theirs.

When they arrived, a familiar figure was waiting in the lobby, looking at them like a bunch of hubaloo.

When they entered, Alex loudly exclaimed:

-"You two are still walking around with this trash?" he said while pointing his finger.

Leo and Alphonse both knew Alex and his character already. He had always been in conflict with Calvin because of their parents.

Leo pointed towards themselves and asked in a dubious tone:

-"Us?"

-"Yes! Who else?"

-"If you say that because Calvin has Grey tier uniform right now, it's only temporary, the school made an error." Alphonse added.

-"The school didn't make an error, they never do. It's the best academy in Europe, you think they would make one? It's obvious that Calvin lied to you to hide his shame!"

Alex started accusing Calvin more and more and his friends alternated between looking at him and Alex.

-"If you couldn't hold up to your parents reputation, just say it..."

-"Shut up!"

Calvin shouted out at Alex with anger, but his face stayed back normal, without a trace of red.

[Condition complete: feel three strong emotions but hide them. Reward: [Impulsive power] has been acquired.]

[Impulsive power F Red: when acting on raw emotions on or a whim, you gain strength.]

Calvin suddenly stopped.

He heard a weird voice in his head and a blurry image talking about condition and reward. He didn't pay any real attention to it since his anger started to bubble up.

[Anger level too high, [Concealment] will stop hiding your emotions]

-"So you can't admit to your lies and you're just cursing at me now? You're fucking pathet..."

A balled up fist hit Alex's face, which made him stop his sentence and sent him flying into a wall. The power behind that punch was way higher than any normal high schooler could muster. That was the power of a trait.

Alex was lying in a pile of rocks and wood from the dorm wall he just flown to.

-"uuhhh..."

Calvin's eyes were glowing red while his face was crumbled in anger, shaded with a velvet color.

He looked at Alex, who was now encaseted into the wall and the vibrant red glow in his eyes dimmed until it was back to normal.

-"I, I did this?"

A look of utter confusion was sitting on his face as he looked at the destroyed wall and Alex in it's middle.

-"What the hell was that? How do you know how to use your trait already? An-and, how strong was that?" Leo asked in shock and disbelief.

To know how to use their traits, humans had to train or get shown how to and only those with a minimum of an Orange color could learn on their own.

-"You really weren't lying. Not that I doubted you but, you know." Alphonse said in a meek voice, that was impressed and scared.

-"I think we should call for help, don't you think? Wouldn't want him to die, even if I hate him."

Calvin's suggestion was met with approval as the dorm guard went out and asked what just happened.

They explained themselves and got out of it with a warning because of Calvin's argonite out line and a school nurse, which had a healing trait who came to help Alex.

Before going into the dorm and letting his friend go for the night, Calvin peeked at Alex and saw him staring at him with eyes that screamed: I will beat you, one day.

Calvin took the elevator, entered his room, and laid on his bed fully clothed. His fight took every bit of energy he had and he could not stay awake any longer. He closed his eyes and passed out for the night.
