I am scared as hell. I have to choose my partner. My partner that will help me with my life. Will forever be there. Always. Will understand me and protect me forever. A dragon.
I am in my best clothes. A light green dress with a dark green shawl. The ceremony will begin soon. How it will work is there will be thirteen dragons in a room, because there is thirteen people getting a dragon. The dragon must agree to the rider-dragon bond. There is at least thirty three hundred types of dragons. Some are weak some are overpowered. Some kill any human they see on sight. Some are soft-sided. The dragons on the room with be a mix.
I take a deep breath. No need to panic. It just getting a dragon. I look over and see a old guy with graying hair. He has probably waited years to get a dragon. If you don't get a dragon one year wait till the next. This guy clearly has not had luck in his favor. A man with gray clothes comes out.
" Attention. Any one choosing a dragon please come and sigh the forms. " The man directs us into a line. When the old timer comes up he puts a hand on his chest.
" It's been thirty years. Go home. " The old timer looks mad and distressed.
" Please! The right one might be here!" The old man begs. The man shakes his head. The old man begins to cry a little and turns away. Dragons here are everything. Literally.
Don't have a dragon and you are out of at least a million job options. Seeing the old guy waited thirty years. Damn. He is probably homeless and sick as ever. I feel a little bad.
" Hurry up snail. " A little shove behind makes me jump forward. I apologize for the stop in the line and realize I am next for the form. I grab a pencil and read the form sighing all the right things.

I step in the room. I am luckily the fifth one in. I see baby dragons growing sharp spines. I see a few sitting proudly. I notice a white one trying to get some attention. I step up with the others.
A silver dragon with little stub horns and bright blue eyes nuzzles my leg. I notice it also has no front legs and only back ones. He uses his wings as arms. Wow! A Silver Spine dragon. It is supposed to be pretty brutal at times. It also eats large animals. I love the little thing but... I don't want to have to kill large animals for my dragon.
I see a little yellow dragon. She has bright green eyes. Her scales look almost like the sea shore. They look like sand grains. A Deep Sand dragon. They are great at camouflage and are great fighters. Flyers not so much. I need a flyer and a fighter.
I notice a black dragon. Pitch black scales, gray eyes and long wings. Beginning of back spines. Oh god! A Midnight Fury !{ Cough cough toothless }
Great fighters and flyers and loyal. They do need lots of meat but man for a Dragon like that! I approach the dragon. He growls deeply at me.
" To late he bonded with me! "A tall lanky girl with brown eyes and matching hair sneers at me.
" Sorry. Very impressive. " I say. Gretchen. She has hated me the day we met. Now she has taken the best dragon in the room! I am pushed away by a few people.
Great! Now I'm at the back. I hear a little squeak. I turn around and see a little white dragon. Silver eyes and four legs. Long wings and a little flower bud at his tail. I have never seen anything like him. I approach the little guy and say, " Well hey there. I never saw a dragon like you. "
The dragon squeaks in delight as I scratch his head. I smile he is really cute. He looks like a good flyer. Maybe he would like me as a rider?! He flaps his wings a little and opens his mouth a little.
Damn. He has huge fangs at the top of his jaw.
" Wow. " I whisper to myself. The dragon looks a little embarrassed and hides his little head in my hand. Something I didn't notice at first is that his scales feel like a soft nice leaf. The dragon chirps a little. I smile. He's so cute!
" Maybe wanna be my little dragon?" I ask very silently. He seems to hear and nuzzles my hand a little more.
Every dragon had it's own way of welcoming a rider to its life. Blood for blood. A tattoo. A hand shake{Kinda}. Scale for skin. You name it. But the little guy that I want gently pushes his huge fangs on my palm. It make a small golden circle. It some type of venom, or maybe blood. It instantly goes into my skin. The thing that is left is a little golden glow, a little picture of a dragon. The baby dragon I choose holds up his own palm and reveals a little red glow of a human. We bonded! Oh my god! I have a dragon.
' what should I call him? Can we ever communicate? Does he like me? Ugh... ' A bunch of thoughts run in my mind. I remember reading about the rider-dragon bond having something about a mind link. A way they communicated. The little guy is starting at me.
" Hi. " He says. Wow! We do have a sort of mind link! He spoke to me!
" Oh, ugh... Hi!" I say and happily wave at him. He smiles his little fangs stick out.
" Can I have a name!" He says and bounces around for a second. I am about to answer when the man that let us in yells.
" Alright! Time to go with or without a dragon! To prove you have a dragon, you both will show us the mark of your bond. " He says. We all get up. There is two dragons left. That means two people don't have a dragon this year.
" What was the most powerful dragon here. " A voice says. Gretchen. The man looks around at her.
" Probably the Midnight Fury. " He says back. I get in line to leave. My little guy fallowing me.
" Can I go on your shoulders. I am a little tired. " He says. He does look a little tired.
" Oh, sure hop on. " I say and reach my arm down. He is small now but when he gets bigger he'll be carrying me.
He scrambles up my arm and balances on my shoulder. I feel his soft scales on my neck. A boy with the Deep Sand dragon is behind me.
" Hey... Rider. There is a Deep Sand dragon. " My dragon says. I glance back and see the dragon. She smiles a little at me. I smile back. Then I walk ahead. I get out easy. Me and my new dragon have very recognizable bond marks. Before I leave I ask the type of dragon I have.
" I think it's called a... Ugh... Moon Lilly Dragon. " He said. He seemed to forget it for a second.
" I've never heard of that. Is it a new found dragon? " I ask. I am shoved away before I can get an answer.

I sit with my Dragon. He really wants a name so I am thinking. I am also walking to the dragon care shop.
" Well, what kind of name do you want? A strong name. Or a long name. A cool name. " I ask. He looks a little concerned.
" A name is just what I want. I've never had one. " He replies. Witch is weird usually dragons have a sort of name.
" What about... Ummm... Moonlight? " I say. He jumps up and nearly falls off my shoulder .
" That's a great name! Moonlight is my name! Wow!" Moonlight thrills about his new name. He smiles broadly and I know I could probably see his fangs.
" Alright Moonlight. What do you like to eat? Meat? Fruit? Herbs?" I ask. Dragons can like almost anything. Even insects so I hope it not like that for Moonlight.
" Oh, Fruit and the occasional falcon. By the way... What can I you?" Moonlight replies.
" Aurora . Here we are. " I say as I open the door to the Dragon Care shop. I walk inside and see the others at the choosing are also here. Gretchen is struggling with her Midnight Fury. He probably wants a horse for dinner.
I walk in and head to the section with food. I point out a few things and after a few minutes me and Moonlight decide on a bag of mixed dried fruits. I also got a big bowl for water. After paying I told Moonlight that we would be going home to met my family and to see where he would stay till he was a little older.
When I get home I go to the kitchen where my Father is.
" Father! Met Moonlight. " I say as I come into the kitchen.
" Who's Moonlight. " He says turning around. He sees Moonlight. He gasps and comes over to us. Moonlight is a little nervous.
" Don't worry this Father. He's not bad. " I say and Moonlight loosens up. He likes him. I smile. I can't wait for him to grow up and us to have amazing adventures together.
