Chapter 34: Not according to plan

Three very stressful days passed before Collins called. In the meantime, David and McKenzie had examined the house in Malibu. The security was so rough, so strong, that David wasn’t sure he would have the time to get the hard copies. He knew he could get in, but there was always a time limit, and without knowing where the hardcopies were, there was no way to know how much time he would need. It was a dangerous proposition. The kind of dangerous that would make him walk away from a job. Unless he could find another option.

“It’s going to be your night to shine, kid,” he said to McKenzie after he’d cased the house. “I need you to get in and find out where the hardcopy is. I can get it, but I need to know where it is.”

“No problem love.” She smiled at him.

“You just need to figure out where it is. Don’t take any risks.”

“I won’t,” she said. “Don’t you worry.”

“It might mean seducing someone.”
