Chapter 14

It's 5:30 PM and I was getting hungry. I looked back in my bag to see what I had in there.

I had some hard-boiled eggs and ham and cheese sandwiches in my bag. I decided on a sandwich and a hard-boiled egg.

I looked outside while eating, and an image of my mom and me climbing up the mountain, building a fire and playing cards came to my mind.

*12 years ago*

"Momma, can we play after you get done climbing to the cave?" I ask sweetly, hanging on to her back.

We will need to take a break before we play." She laughs.

"Then we can play?" I ask.

She laughs and says "Yes then we can play."

"Yayyy!" I giggle.

As soon as she got to the top, I hopped off of her back and ran to the cave.

"Be careful my dear, don't trip on the rocks!" Momma shouts just enough for me to hear.

"Yes momma." I say as I slow down.

Momma collected some wood that she had piled up on the side of the cave and started a fire, so that way we could stay warm.
