Aiden woke up, slightly dazed as the sudden light hit his eyes, his resolution steadily clearing. He had woken up just in time, as the train was slowly coming to a halt. They had finally arrived in the Capital. He had risen from a nightmare. Nothing he wasn't used to. He always had nightmares whenever he closed his eyes. Nightmares of his hidden fears he tried to forget. His nightmares often came in repeated doses, festering and leaving him to rot inside as they seeped the life from him, depriving him of any reason to live or any emotion. Nightmares in the form of his father and mother.
["Wow! There are so many stars today too!"] he recalled, the memories getting clearer as they came rushing to the forefront of his thoughts.
Ah… it hadn't been a nightmare after all.
