Chapter 24: Beginning of trauma 2

"Feisty one I see. I like that spirit of yours. Too bad." The one who called Daffodil a weakling snickered. The hooded figure ( the hooded figures are all men.) moved closer before unsheathing his sword from his scabbard. He went head-on towards Daffodil to cut her head. Daffodil only smiled wickedly while staring at his sword. The next thing that happened caught the rest of us off guard. The sword deflected and beheaded the man.

The other man started to run away but Daffodil was quick enough to slam him to the ground with a roundhouse kick. He was knocked out cold and not going going to stand up for a while I suppose.

"Lucian, run!" I heard my sister say. The leader snuck behind me and held me down. He was surprisingly strong. Daffodil ran to my aid but the hooded figure threw a needle at her. She fell to the ground.

"No!" I yelled and broke free from the hooded figure's grip by kicking him aside and running next to my sister.

'Please be alive. I can not bear to lose anyone again.' I thought. She was still breathing which gave me relief. My eyes wandered to the man who was bleeding and crawling toward a shiny object. I couldn't decipher what it was but I couldn't take any chances. I was unfortunate however when he grabbed it and aimed it at me. I felt something on my leg.

Blood soaked my jeans as I saw a bullet in my left leg. "If you won't follow me, then I might just as well end you here." The man spluttered blood from his mouth. I felt the urge to scream in pain and that was what I did. My mind was hazy. I couldn't stand properly and I fell face flat to the earth.

My mind was blank but I found a light shining towards me.

"Mom, Dad!" I yelled running towards them. They turned to me with a solemn looks in their eyes as I cried out.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." I sobbed into their arms.

"Lucian, we forgive you and we are sorry too for leaving you and Daffodil behind. Please take care of yourselves." I heard Dad say one last time.

"Lucian! Lucian! Wake up." I heard someone cry. It sounded like Daffodil. I gently opened my eyes to the strange environment as I faced the teary girl in front of me. I saw my left leg bandaged too.

"You are alright!" She cried as she hugged me firmly not letting me go.

"Daffodil you are crushing me," I said trying to breathe as she quickly withdrew herself. "I never thought I'd see the day you will finally cry." I continued making her whack my head.

"Well, it won't hurt to let it all out once in a while. Never scare me like that again." She said.

"I can't make any promises," I said flashing a gentle smile. My smile faded quickly when I saw two bodies covered with a white cloth.

"I'm sorry if I wasn't able to make it in time. If only I had, this wouldn't have happened." A voice said. The figure finally came to light as we saw Albert with a grim look on his face.

"You!" I yelled.

"Calm down Lucian," Daffodil shouted irritated by my sudden outburst.

"Why should I?" I growled in anger.

"Because he saved us." I stopped short feeling guilty. "He wasn't able to save Mom and Dad but he managed to deal with the hunters after us." She continued.

I felt hot tears stream down my face. Mom and Dad died due to those stupid beast hunters. Daffodil reassured me that everything is going to be okay.

"I think it's best you stay with me now since people are hunting you down. I'll look after you. It's not safe here." Albert suggested when everyone was finally calm.

"But what about my school? and why can't we go back to our former home?" Daffodil questioned.

"The elders will surely know that Ashley and Katelyn are dead if only you two show up. Lucian is still a kid and they will surely find a way to get rid of you two since not all of them didn't have a good relationship with your father. And school will have to wait. We leave first thing tomorrow morning." Albert explained as he started packing.

"Besides, I got suspended remember," I added walking up to my room before slamming the door shut. I never imagined any of these things to happen. I was walking out of my home and friends but it is for my safety right?

I began packing taking mostly the essentials. I looked at one of the video game consoles but it was not needed. I didn't even have enough space in my bag. I heard some movements only for me to see through the huge mirror on the wall. It was slightly opened leading to a passageway. I walked in to find Daffodil there glancing at a sword.

"How long have you been here?" She asked.

"I just found out about this place now. I suppose you knew earlier." I replied.

"Dad promised to give me this sword after I graduate high school. He said I would be a perfect match for it." She said her eyes not leaving the sword. "How did you get here?" I asked.

"You are not the only one who has secret passages in their rooms."

I looked behind her to see two pair of green daggers. They were beautifully engraved with markings of what I couldn't read or decipher.

"Yeah, Dad also planned to hand it over to you. It belonged to the first king of the bloodline and has been handed down from generations." Daffodil said. I felt my hands move as I unconsciously grabbed them. She pointed to two outfits that looked like one's for battle. We both decided to take it along with us. Just then I saw something gleaming from the far end of the dimly lit room.

"C'mon let's go." We left. The next day, we buried the corpses of our parents. I placed a bouquet on their grave before saying a little prayer. Daffodil was fighting back the tears while trying to say goodbye in her final moments with them. I wanted to cry but nothing came. Probably cause I cried all night.

"Where are we going?" Daffodil asked as we were about to leave.

"I'm taking you to someone somewhere. His name is John and no he isn't a beast hunter. You kids will be staying with us." Albert said. "So you two ready?"

Daffodil nodded in response.

"Yeah," I replied coldly as I started at our home. I took a deep breath and looked forward as we begin our new journey.
