The action of the guards were not adding up but Velma had no time to think deeply about it. Her mate was dying and it felt as though some part of her were dying. Like a wound in her being continually stabbed. She rushed to Artemis side and swooped him up in her arms then took to the sky, much to the surprise of the guards.

They began to fire arrows at her but she dodged them skillfully. For a brief second, she looked to the ground and watched as Vallus ran towards the gate of the forte and anger coursed through her veins. She so badly wanted to kill him there and then but her priority was Artemis.

Finally getting to the rooftop, she landed there with light feet and opened the trap door. As carefully as she could, she guided Artemis body down as well as herself with utmost care. She could not afford to sleep or the Alpha she held in her hands would die.
