"You came back."

Velma smiled at the familiar voice that had once terrified her. She remembered her last time in the labyrinth very clearly; where she had thought would be her end. "Of course." She paused, looking around. "Do you still think me selfish?"

There was silence all about her.

"You are awfully quiet. What happened to your smug nature?" Velma inquired. "I thought wanting to harness my powers was to the detriment of—"

"Pride." There was a scoff. "I pray by Celeena's name it shan't be your ruin."

"It shan't," Velma smiled tightly. She looked at the bare feet on the cold and stony ground. The ground in which she had once lay helpless, without hope of survival. The ground where her tears had spilled as she saw the misery her family had been put in due to her disappearance.
