Bird chirping can be heard. The heat of the helios fry his eyes. Krilo gradually opened his eyes. A thick white blanket shroud his body. The view of the luxurious bedroom makes him not believe that he is still alive.
He tries to move but a funny uncomfortable feeling prevents him from testing his movement further. It feels like rheumatic pain.
'My legs … why so heavy?' His owlish face wrinkles. The feet are actually moved, but not as he expected. Funny uncomfortable feeling burns his muscles.
"Hey, watch out buddy!" Niva sitting in the corner jumped towards his compfreund. The boy's hand gently holds Krilo's yellowy shoulder. Bandages are all over his arms. Meanwhile a small tight wooden armor is worn on his torso.
It's a tool to straighten his back because this world is similar to The Renaissance in terms of medical advancement.
Krilo stares at Niva intensely. He is trying really hard to suppress his restlessness. "For how long should I stay like this?"
"In two weeks you will be able to walk again, the doctor said so," smiled Niva reassuringly.
Krilo raises his furry left eye. "[Doctor]? You mean Miss Lula?"
"Actually no. She still has much to learn before being [Specialist]. By the way, why are you calling her miss?" The boy tries to lighten the mood.
The blue haired companion catches his compfreund off guard with his question. Krilo tries to follow the conversation with a not so serious tone. "She looks older than you. Meanwhile you look like a pretty boy that gets bullied in high school."
Niva straightens his composure. "Well, actually I am older than her. I am 19 years old. This pretty face will stay young to get all the babes."
Krilo can see his potential. Blue hair, fairly bright skin, well built for his age group. "Be sure to pound them equally."
They both laughed. The compfreund heart feels much better now knowing that they already throwing jokes at each other.
"Hey, do you know why I exist?" Krilo needs to know better about this companionship.
The boy went silent for a moment. "Sure. To help me everywhere I go. Since I do not trust them anymore."
"Them?" asks Krilo curiously.
"My dad, I mean my step father. My mother remarried to him, the head of the House Melny. That is now the Lord of the town of Richter."
The compfreund recalls his memory as the original Krilo. The area of the Kingdom is divided into administrative regions. The Gewjory territory selects some of the influential families that happen to reside in the region. For example, the House Regent currently governs his region.
He too learns about the administrative region of the Voltingen Kingdom. It is awfully similar to the Gewjory. Except the military is organized solely by the central kingdom. This explains the helplessness of Niva that day in the Cathedral.
"Who in their right mind tried to destroy your town last night?"
"Last night? You slept for almost a week buddy. Bet you dreamt of Shervo the Drake in lingerie." Niva smiled jokingly.
"I dream that someday I will become the strongest so that I … could dominate every compfreund in this continent," exclaim Krilo while laughing smugly. His tongue almost slipped from his beak. No revenge plot should be discussed further. It will raise the boy's suspicion.
"Gewjory's The Colossus is the culprit. Just like the Richter, it is a strange contraption that can float on the water. Much bigger than the galleon with its strange greyish body. It's long cannon can travel kilometers away."
"Why? Is there a war currently going on?" asks Krilo, shivering. From the looks of it, it is weird that the two major kingdoms are going into war with each other. The existence of both can be described as mutual
From the economic sector for example, the two kingdoms have signed numerous important trade agreements. Voltingen provided food and freshwater from the Crimson Wind Mountain, in return Gewjory provided crops that exclusively came from the Boruz delta in the floodplains downstream.
Also the stone excavated from the Voltingen's mountain contains high quality stones for masonry. It is important for a castle and fortified wall around a key city's perimeter. In turn, the fertilizer generated from the livestock in vast plains of Gewjory prove to be a highly sought components for the rather infertile Voltingen's mountainous region.
Tourism. As strange as it sounds, another source of income for both Kingdom's treasury. People flocking from the low plains of Gewjory wanted to feel the coldness of Slovin mountain in East Voltingen and the heat of the Crimson Wind mountain in the Central Voltingen.
Gondola and The Nature Red Essence of the Crimson Wind mountain is the main attraction that Voltingen offers to the tourists. Situated at the foot of the mountain the red dungeon offers a mighty challenge for privately funded expeditions. Vicious monsters are always available for them to hone their class.
Like they all said. It is all thanks to The Nature's longevity.
"A dispute is happening not far north from here. The blues do not tolerate the territory that the reds occupy." Niva raises his two hands behind his head. Resting his back to the wooden bedroom wall.
Krilo took a short time to realize 'the blues' is the Gewjory and 'the reds' is the Voltingen.
"Which north? What region? Where are we right now?" shouted Krilo. He had a hunch.
"Slow down buddy." The blue boy laughed it off except that Krilo is not amused. "25 kilometres from here. Region Marvis of the Gewjory Kingdom of the Historically House Regent. We are at the at the Region Centriol, still on the red's territory."
Krilo's eyes widened. His hunch is on point. "What happens to the House Regent now?"
"Dead. In the massacre conducted by the Richter 650 years ago. Every creature in the region is reported dead."
'650?!' Krilo swallows his saliva. He wanted to scream right into the boy's ears. Niva's forefather was the one responsible for the massacre. Even though this boy might not know anything. He is still as guilty. Just like the rest of them.
