The Banquet Continues

Third POV

As Marquess Bellatorius took came all the attention came to him, all the nobles in attendance gave a small bow to him acknowledging his status.

Vergil and Eliza also gave a small bow along with them the rest of the youngsters

"Welcome, esteemed guests, to this joyous occasion," Marquess Bellatorius announced, his voice stern yet gentle. "As you all know, today marks the 15th birthday of my beloved daughter, Eleanor. Let us raise our glasses in celebration of her special day."

With a gracious smile, he lifted his own glass of champagne, the effervescent bubbles dancing within. "To Eleanor," he toasted, his words carrying a sense of pride and affection.

In unison, the assembled nobles followed suit, raising their glasses in homage to the young lady of honor. As they sipped the golden liquid, the air filled with murmurs of well wishes and congratulations, echoing the sentiment of camaraderie and joy that enveloped the grand hall.

Vergil looked at the Marquess as he quietly sipped the juice in his hand, taking advantage of marquess speech he slipped through these flattering noble sons, than Vergil looked at Eleanor and coincidently Eleanor was also looking in the same direction so their eyes meet for a brief second, her eyes full of indifference and contempt

'quite the prideful one huh.' Vergil mused as he looked at the other siblings there eyes had the same contempt and pride, even if they have smile on the face

It would seem the education of house of Bellatorius strictly emphasis 'survival of the fittest'  In there eyes the weak have no right to live

Eliza, noticing Vergil standing alone in the corner lost in thought, excused herself from her friends and approached him. As she drew nearer, she couldn't help but notice the way the light played upon his features, casting an ethereal glow upon his handsome face. With his gem-like eyes shimmering with intelligence and depth, he seemed almost otherworldly, a picture of nobility amidst the bustling gathering.

As Eliza gazed at Vergil, a soft blush crept onto her cheeks, unnoticed by anyone but herself. She couldn't help but think to herself, "He's really handsome," feeling a warmth spread through her face at the thought. shaking her head she made way towards him

"Mind if I join you?" Eliza asked softly, a gentle smile gracing her lips as she observed him swirling his glass of juice, lost in contemplation

Vergil POV

As I found myself lost in a sea of thoughts, a soft voice broke through the haze, pulling me back to the present. Turning towards the source, I was met with the beautiful face of Eliza.

'Her beauty rivals that of Eleanor or May,' I couldn't help but think. Snapping out of my daze, I quipped, "Who would refuse the company of a beautiful lady? Please, be my guest."

"Thank you for the compliment, Vergil," Eliza giggled in response.

"So, what was Young Master Vergil thinking that even Lady Eleanor was ignored?" Eliza's curiosity was evident, especially considering the attention Eleanor usually garnered from the boys.

"Nothing much, just pondering when this gathering would end," I replied, expressing my boredom. "I would rather study than engage in hypocritical social games with spoiled brats."

"Vergil, you're the same age as them, and so am I," Eliza reminded me, a hint of reproach in her tone.

"Wait, I didn't mean you," I quickly clarified, realizing my unintended offense.

"Hehe... so, Vergil, you can also act flustered," Eliza teased, her laughter soft and melodic.

"I didn't get flustered, I just got distracted—yes, distracted, that's right," I retorted, attempting to save face.

"Yeah, right. What were you distracted by?" Eliza snickered at my feeble excuse.

"That... Why don't I show you a trick?" I suggested, hoping to change the subject.

"What trick?" Eliza asked, playing along with my diversion

I first silent casted an isolation spell as it allows to subconsciously ignore us

"What did you do Vergil" Eliza confused as she has not seen such a spell

"Its a minor isolation spell others wont observe us" I said as I prepared for the trick

I gave my glass to her as I closed my hands than suddenly a stick appeared in my hand, she was clearly surprised as to where the stick came from, Then I casted a spell

"Cast spell: Transmogrification," I announced, invoking the magic.

A small magic circle materialized on the stick, transforming it into a beautiful golden yellow rose, set against a backdrop of emerald leaves. Eliza's astonishment was evident as she gazed at the enchanted rose.

"How... how did you do this?" she asked, her amazement clear.

"Guess," I replied, a mysterious smile playing on my lips.

"Humph," Eliza pouted in response.

"Here... This is for you," I said, offering her the rose.

"This is a yellow rose. In the language of flowers, it symbolizes friendship, joy, and caring. Today, I'm giving you this as a testament to our new friendship," I explained, revealing my reason for the gift.

"Really... Thank you so much, Vergil. I will cherish this gift," Eliza said, her gratitude evident in her sincere smile as she admired the rose.

"I'm sorry I don't have anything to give you in return right now," Eliza apologized, feeling embarrassed at receiving a gift without reciprocating.

"No need. I didn't give you this gift expecting one in return," I assured her, trying to alleviate her discomfort.

"How about this, you can give a gift when we meet again" I suggested, offering a solution to her unease.

"That's Wonderful Idea.. you should look forward to it" Eliza said as she put her hands together

Third POV:

As Vergil and Eliza were enjoying each others company the banquet was in full swing as The marquess and there family was busy entertaining the guest will the star of the show was surrounded by those noble brats, as they kept on bragging there capabilities in an attempt to win our lady Eleanor favor.

'How annoying,' Eleanor thought, growing weary of the incessant lies and empty boasts, as she was wondering what to do she felt a subtle wave of mana, She looked around tried to find the source of mana but it was so brief that she missed it

She thought she was mistaken but then she looked at one corner where a young silvered hair boy and beautiful chestnut haired girl were taking and smiling as they were enjoying, separate from this debauchery, she recognized the girl was Eliza Beaumont, whom she met once in another gathering but she could not recognize him

Feeling annoyed by their apparent enjoyment while she dealt with the insincere flattery of the nobles,

'lets go meet them, they can be used as good shield' She thought

"Excuse me, I need to meet an acquaintance of mine," she announced, excusing herself from the group of nobles before making her way toward Vergil and Eliza.

Vergil POV

I was having a good time with Eliza when I felt a sharp gaze on us, I noticed the gaze from Lady Eleanor and I could feel trouble coming from the look in her eyes

"Vergil where are you looking" Eliza said as she followed my gaze

"It would seem someone is not happy with our alone time" I said

Eliza also understood even though she seems gentle she is extremely smart and cunning

"act normally as you have not noticed her" I said

Eliza nodded, as she understood me

Soon the trouble came

"Good Evening Lady Eliza, I presume, we have met before right?" she greeted us as she pretended to be surprised

"Good Evening and happy birthday My lady yes I am Eliza Beaumont" Eliza said softly perfectly displaying her noble upbringing

"Thankyou Eliza and he is..... " Eleanor asked Eliza noticing me as I prayed she did not notice me, clearly again it failed

"Good Evening Lady Eleanor my name is Vergil Winchester Its a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Congratulations on your 15th Birthday" I said greeting her with etiquette

"Thank you Vergil, are you the son of baron Winchester" she thanked me

I nodded to her "that's my father" as I confirmed to her

As she was talking to me she noticed a yellow rose in Eliza hair which was not previously there

"A very nice rose Eliza, where did you get this rose" She looked at the rose as she could see it was very special, it gave of mana

"Ahh isn't it beautiful, this was given to me by Vergil" Eliza happily told Eleanor as she told about how I gave her the rose

"How romantic Lord Vergil it would seem you are quite the ladies man" Eleanor said as she seemed interested in the rose

"Not at all my lady the rose looks beautiful only because it belongs to right place" I said as I try to brush it off

Eliza began to blush listening to my compliment as Eleanor began to laugh looking at the flustered Eliza

I could literally feel many malicious and jealous gazes at us, and I wanted to scream at them 'I am innocent' but could only forcefully smile and ignoring these dagger like gazes

"Why don't we stroll the garden" Eleanor suggested as she also noticed the annoying gazes

"But My lady its your Birthday party" Eliza said clearly hesitating at her proposal

"Don't worry I have already greeted them all and Father wont mind our absence" Eleanor said carelessly not caring about the consequences

Eliza was clearly confused as she looked at me 'what to do'

"Well if its for a short while than its fine I believe the Marquess wont mind" I said as it would be fine clearly the other nobles were more interested in the Marquess and his older children so we would be fine

"Wonderful lets go" clearly Eleanor was happy to be freed from this place
