Laura came out of the pub feeling light-headed. She knew she was supposed to stay on high alert, but she didn't care at all right now. She has already accepted the fact that Anthony was dead, and Alec...
After his brief fame, Laura hasn't heard from him again. Not that she cared at all. Alec had promised to stay by hers and her son's side, but he disappeared at the last moment.
She couldn't blame him though. Anyone in his shoes would do the same. The stress of being pursued by assassins and rogue soldiers was getting to him, and he felt that he couldn't continue anymore. He even used the excuse of finding them to justify his guilty conscience.
At least that's what she thought.
She groggily walked to her car and climbed into the passenger seat. She inserted the key and turned it, bringing the engine back to life. She was just about to press the pedal when she realized she wasn't alone in the car.
