Silent yet echoing footsteps filled the corridors the party passed. Spheris was behind the Head Marshal and the nurse, gazing at her movements: her hips moving with grace, her white robes flowing behind her like a ghostly trail.

But Spheris's mind was not there at all. His presence had been sucked into his mind, like a frightened turtle in its shell. Each step he took seemed to increase the weight in his chest, the anticipation and anxiety building with every turn and staircase they ascended.

There was excitement in his heart, but also fear... nervousness. It had been over a month since he last saw her, and throughout that month, he had slain beasts, leveled up, defeated adversaries all so he could come back to her.

But now, as he walked these halls, doubt gnawed at him. He worried if he could defeat the fear of facing her. Was he strong enough to mend the rift his disobedience had caused?
