Born of the wastelands, Spheris Arnadel, a young skilled thief, finds himself subject to a twist of fate when he steals a powerful relic and becomes a Bearer — humans gifted with powers from the Gods. As a punishment for his theft, he is cast into an otherworldly realm alongside other Bearers, where he faces off against monstrous beasts and powerful enemies. Yet, in his determination to return to the Continent and save his dying mother, Spheris is hell-bent on surviving the abyssal world. Even if it means giving his body to the Dark God whose powers he had stolen... even if it means losing all of his humanity.
After the visit and the tears had ended, Spheris and Lirael followed Gareth down the staircase and through the corridors back to the main hallway.
Waiting there were four marshals, pistolets secured in their buckles. They motioned on Spheris to follow them, Gareth leading the way. Spheris declared that he would want Lirael to come with him as she's his personal guide.
Lirael smiled at this, then jokingly corrected him saying she was his shadow. Gareth agreed that it could be arranged and so the duo followed the Head Marshal to the outside premises of the Royal Infirmary.
There they found a sleek polished royal carriage.
Royal carriages were crafted from the finest materials, featuring polished hardwoods and reinforced with elegant, enchanted metals. The doors and windows were framed with ornate filigree, and the glass was not just clear but enchanted to offer a slight, magical glimmer.
