From time to time, doctors regularly check in on me and nurses would bring in painkillers to ease the stabbing pain in my leg.
One night as the pain in my leg wouldn't stop, I turned around on the bed unable to sleep. Beside me, my friend lay asleep in a sitting chair. I moved slightly to him despite the difficulty and woke him up. Just as soon as I touched him, he opened his eyes as if something was wrong.
He looked at me and relaxed a little. "Lea." He spoke in a soft sleepy but still dreamy voice. "Is something wrong?"
"I couldn't sleep." I said. He put me back down lying again and said softly "I meant to watch you sleep but I fell asleep instead." I smiled at that. "How long have I stayed in here?" I wanted to know. "You've been here for almost three weeks now. "He counted the days.
