The Mystic Spider

What if...MCU Ned Leed wasn't who he was and New York had two different arachnid theme super human protecting the city? This is my first work and second attempt at rehashing an already established property to fit my liking. The first attempt is the same story but non edited and rough at some angles and entirely in the wrong genre. If you like this concept, feel free to save this novel and follow my journey of butchering some of my favorite MCU movies and marvel story lines All intellectual properties belong to their perspective company, this is just for shits and giggles, nothing more.

First Night Out

It took a little longer than expected to get the costume done. I had to buy and steal all the materials I needed through the black market because what kind of hardware store just casually sells titanium and platinum on an industrial scale to the public? There would be way more suit wearing folks walking around if they could just casually buy all their materials at your local hardware store. Shaping and engraving the metal into what I want is pretty without wasting any material is pretty easy with magic. Though it does make me feel a little bit uneasy if I can easily disassemble and reassemble these tough and sturdy metals with just simple magic manipulation.

Anyways, after getting everything measured properly and molded out to fit my body, I began the magic engraving process. Using my favorite relic the 'Ink of Innovation' I was able to inscribe all the necessary magical and electrical connections to make my own copy of Stark's interface underneath the helmet. It would be so much easier to build everything if I had a fabricator or robotic arms to help assemble everything for me.....I should build an AI to help me in the future but right now I need to test my suit.

I don't really know how I did it but I was able to fit everything in a backpack, or I guess built into a backpack. With the pull of a string on my left shoulder strap, the backpack will open up and drop the suit along my back. When I put on the completed helmet, I have to push in the mouth piece to complete the circuitry of the head piece and it turns the eyes from a glassy black to a dim purple. This causes the screen to flicker to life with a heads up display. The HUD is not required for me to see because just like Tony, I can still see through the eye holes even if the power is off. And then with a simple flick of my finger, the suit can sort of phase on to my body for an almost instantaneous suit up. Fuck I don't know if I'm a Kamen rider or the Batman or venom now. Fucking already having an identity crisis after 13 years of living and one month of getting my powers. SIGH. I guess inspirations from my past life just come to mind at the most convenient of times.

Anyways, right now I'm riding a train to downtown Manhattan. Tonight I want to test out my abilities and suit against actual criminals. I don't have my knife or gun just yet but these hands are rated E for every scums causing mayhem tonight. But I can't end someone's lifeline if I haven't deemed them worthy of that punishment just yet. That would just make me a senseless murder instead of the vigilante I aim to become. Anyways while on the train I've been watching people. I'm now a 6 foot tall individual who's sort of looking for trouble but not to start trouble. I'm keeping my eyes out to see if anyone could be an easy victim that some cutpurse or gangbanger would target.

Hmm there seem to be a few but that could just be me judging them for looking like dweebs and green horns to the city night life. Well it's time for my stop now, time to change into the mystic spider once I leave the station and find somewhere dark to hide in. I get out of my seat as the train come to a stop. There seem to be a few people getting off at the same time, but it don't seem like it's all safe. There's a group that's huddling at exit that's also watching out for people. Must be a stake out. I should be on my way to avoid any attention to me.

I lower my cap to keep my face hidden as I walk by the group. My tingles aren't going off for me but I can feel their eyes gazing at my backpack and the woman that got off the same train with me. Now I wouldn't say that she's bait but she's basically bait. I've placed a tracking spell on her when I bumped into her on the way out of the train. Maybe things will happen, maybe it wo-oh nevermind the group is already following us. As soon as I exit the station I walk over into a nearby dark alleyway. I look up and around to see if any windows are lit up or open, then to see if there's anyone in the alley with me. Good there's not a pair of eyes that can observe me. The only sounds seem to be the muffled noises from inhabitants within the buildings themselves and the busy street life. But definitely nothing in this alley.

I jump onto a wall and begin climbing up towards the roof of the building, after a couple short moments I arrive on the rooftop. Man, even though this building is only a couple of stories tall the view is pretty nice up here. I reach behind to pull out my helmet to look at it Goddamn this is a nice piece of work. I didn't want to add any more decorative metalwork to the outside since it'll be heavily used but it's already so beautiful as is. The imperfect web design texture on the top of the helmet really brings in the skull look to it. It looks like a spider has tried to fuse metal skull pieces together and the intersecting lines are wrinkles holding it all together. And the mouthpiece. Oh my God, the frozen creepy smile. It's so simple but I love the way it turned out.

I put on the helmet as I feel a click snap into place as I push the smiling set of teeth upwards into place. I pull on the scrap on my left to let the suit drop down behind my back. With a simple motion of my finger, a silk scarf shoots out from the backpack to wrap around my neck as the suit shifts around on to my body. The large purple eyes in the front of the mask lit up as the display screen in front of my eyes came to life. I don't really have trouble navigating through the darkness with my spider sense but having day-coloring night vision does make everything easier. I turn to look at my wrist to access the display controls on my left forearm. There's nothing there in the real world but the display in my helmet has tracked a holographic control panel on my arm. I turn down the eyes to a slight dim so I can move in the dark a lot easier without getting spotted. I swipe on the gauntlet to switch to a different panel. After a couple pressing on a couple buttons, a faint blinking light on the distance came on my helmet display. A smile slowly spreads on my face as it appears that the light has stopped moving and is in an alleyway not too far away from me.

I start running towards the direction of my tracker, I jump at the last step of the building to leap into the air. My body begins to fall a little bit as I shoot out a web towards a nearby building. THIWP! Gravity is pulling my body down but the web allows me to use my inertia to swing upwards at quick speed. My wrist naturally lets go of the webbing just as I reach a moment of critical height. My other hand is already shooting out another webbing as I start to free fall once more.

Not long after my initial jump I soon arrive at the roof of the building next to the blinking light. I step over the ledge to look down at the scene beneath me. The group of boys from the station are surrounding the woman I put my tracking spell on. Her purse has already been snatched by one of them but she still has her pepper spray in hand. I crouch down to get ready incase she can't deal with this by herself. She's a lone woman trying to defend herself from her 6 would be rapist. She already kicked one of them in the balls but they still got her purse. She's warning them to stay back and leave her alone but one more rushed at her. They knock the pepper spray out of her hand as two more grab her arms.

The boy that kocked her only source of defense away laughed in cold heartless malice as he reach out for her blouse. He grips on to the shirt tightly before ripping it off. The woman let out a piercing scream for help as the men around her laughs in unison. Looks like it's show time.

I turn up the brightness of my eyes and lean forward as I let gravity naturally take over my body. My arms swing out to shoot webbing at the two boys standing next to the woman, pinning the free hands that weren't holding on to her, to the wall. I land on the ground behind the group of boys and begin launching hands in quick rapid succession. A chop landed on the shoulder of the 'ring leader' as his collar bone cracked under my hand. I've pulled back just enough to break bones instead of chopping through their bodies. Since this is my first time seeing their first offense I won't kill just yet.

Before the boy could even let out a scream of pain, another boy's face was already hitting my fist. His nose shatters on to my knuckles as a few of his teeth also become dislodged from his gum. Another boy tripped towards my elbow leaving his ribs to crack under the impact of landing on my joint. Soon the last one that got his balls kicked in, drops the purse and begins to run away. I can't help but chuckle as I shoot a ball of web at his feet. It was like watching a baby learn to walk for the first time ever because his shoe became stuck onto the ground causing him to slip out of it and trip over on to the concrete. SMACK! He's either smart enough to play dead or he actually did hit his forehead pretty hard because he looks like he got knocked out from the fall. Oh well not my problem.

I turn to look at the two that are pinned on to the wall. In the panic of seeing their friends get beat up they tried to free their hands only to end up with both hands locked in place by the law of stickiness. I want to laugh at the sight of seeing these scumbags scramble to try and save their asses but I need to keep my intimidating affect going. I pick up the purse from the floor and toss it to the ground in front of the woman. "Go home. Don't stay out so late on nights like these." I watch her pick herself up as she quickly disappears into the night with tears running down her face. I turn around to look at the two boys with their hands stuck to the wall.

"You could've just robbed the woman but yet you still tried to rape her. I should put all of you down for that! But I think I'll just give you all a warning. For now!" I launch a kick into the shins of the two boys causing them to scream out in pain as their tibias crack under my foot. The sound of police sirens soon enters my hearing range. I turn my head slightly to listen a little better only for something else to grab my immediate attention. Behind me, the guy laying on the floor is attempting to slowly crawl away while I was distracted by his friends. I let out a chuckle as I slowly made my way towards him. I can feel my scarf waving and moving in the wind as if a cold hard breeze is passing by. Once I caught up to the crawling boy I raised my foot before stomping down on his thigh. He let out a loud scream as his femur cracks under my foot. He soon joins the rest of his friends as they all cry out in pain from their newly self inflicted injuries.

The sound of sirens feels a lot closer now as it seems to be just a few blocks away. I run towards the opening of the street before leaving into the air to swing away. Just as my body disappeared from the street view, the cops finally showed up to check on the report that had just been received. The next crime of the night requires some searching to do as I keep swinging through the city. I slowly gain higher and higher altitude with each swing of my webs. The strong rush of air fluttering against my scarf feels so majestic and freeing. No wonder why Peter loves to do this and struggles with living as Peter Parker and Spiderman at the same time. It's the closest thing to flying and at a certain point of the pendulum you become weightless. Free from any earthly attachment and responsibilities and then the rush. Oh the sudden rush of falling at terminal velocity is just as amazing. It's unlike any roller coaster ride you could ever get on. The closest thing to this is to just skydive from a plane.

!!§§§§!!

My spider sense is tingling! I turn to look at the direction it was warning me about. I wonder if that's Peter or if that's something bad? I swing around a corner to go towards the tingle. After a few minutes I arrive at a rooftop next to the building of the source. I looked down at the lower roof top and it was an arms deal going wrong. The two groups of men have a few crates in between them. Three crates of abnormal weaponry with one of them opened for display of proof while a briefcase full of money is next to it. I'm not sure who's the buyer and who's the dealer but it looks like both teams are trying to rob each other.

Ehh it's just two gangs trying to kill each other. It has nothing to do with me. I leap off the corner of the rooftop to swing away but I continue to hold on to the webbing to flip back up on the same rooftop. It's really not my problem to intervene with a power dispute but I do want to see what will happen next. I crouch back down on the corner of the rooftop to continue watching the transaction. The heated stand down eventually cooled off as both sides came to an agreement. The group on my left accepted the amount in the briefcase as the group on my right began to haul the crates of weapons into an industrial elevator. The left group got back into their helicopter before taking off into the night sky. I tap on the side of my helmet to take a couple pictures of the helicopter markings and signs so I can do some research once I get back home. The rooftop soon became empty as if there wasn't about to be a couple of freshly bled out bodies just a few minutes ago. I should mark this building as a point of interest in my map.

I look at my left arm to mark the buildings before leaping off into the night sky. I begin chasing after the helicopter by swinging and watching it at a distance. It's not hard to track because it's just a constant red and green dot that's floating in the sky towards the seaports. Goddamn that's going to be a long trip. Now I see why Peter is always in such amazing shape in the comic and all the other universes, he's constantly working out and burning tons of calories just going places.

After nearly half an hour of swinging I finally arrived at the warehouse that the helicopter landed by. This must be a distribution spot for their operation. I turn off my lights as I slowly sneak into the building. I entered through the classic air vents at the top of the building and after a few minutes of crawling I finally came into a vent that's over the open operation area. These guys are selling salvaged Chitauri tech! But this can't be Toomes and his gang, the area isn't right and the Toomes would be following the shipments to ensure it was delivered safely and successfully. Hell he would've killed the other gang if they tried to pull a fast one on his crew.

Who the fuck are these people? I need to keep watching and record everything that goes on. I crawl around some more to get a better look at what they're creating. It all just seems like they're harvesting from the dead carcass of a Chitauri whale and small fleet rather than repurposing the tech but I can't be a hundred percent sure. I crawled around some more until I got into an office space to overhear some conversations.

"Yes yes sir, the shipment was a success and the crew just got back with the payment. No sir. Everything went down as smooth as ice cream on a hot summer afternoon. You shouldn't have to worry about anything Boss, the next shipment should be ready soon. The boys are already halfway done with harvesting this whale." A man spoke into the phone as he looked out of his window office. I wonder whose operation this is because there should've been enough gangs in New York to collect their piece of the pie after the Chitauri invasion. Could it be....Fisk?
