The Melody And The Beat

Beat was just your normal kid who had a passion and incredible talent in the musical world. Despite his ability to utilise all kinds of instruments, singing was where he shined the brightest! However, when he finds himself in Death's arms, he hadn't expected to suddenly awaken to find himself not only in the fictional world he knew as Pokemon, but also transformed into one himself! Not just any Pokemon though, as a Meloetta! Well, in a way...

"So, do you know the name of this place?"

"Afraid not. Though, this place is unique from what I've heard."

"Really, in what way?"

Beat and Snivy were now seen sitting atop of a building away from the view of the humans as they were looking down towards the streets as there were a bunch of people walking about. Beat didn't need to turn himself invisible as they were high enough up that he doubted anyone would just look up for no reason at all.

It hadn't been long since they had arrived in this town as Beat honestly couldn't recognise the place. He had played the games but he didn't recognise the layout of this town or city. He could only assume that he either had a horrible memory, this place was an unmapped location in the games, or it was a place he knew of and he was in the anime or manga.

The towns and cities in the anime did vary quite a bit in layout, so it wasn't that hard to assume that he might be in the anime world or manga world instead of the game. He was quite confident in himself to have remembered the layout of the places in the Pokemon games, he did have an increased memory bank after all.

"Well, from what I've been told. There are a bunch of Pokemon in this place that you usually find living in other regions. Pokemon that you usually won't ever find in other of Unova." Snivy explained as he tapped his hand on his chin. Beat blinked at this as he had listened intently to Snivy's explanation.

"If what you're saying is true, then that means we're most likely in Undella Town."

"Undella Town?"

"Yep." Beat nodded. Undella Town was a place in the games that you could catch Pokemon that weren't hailing from the Unova Region. You could catch Pokemon like Wailmer, Wingull, Starmie and many others as well. If what Snivy said was true, then that was the most probable conclusion to their location. "Anyway, I want to get my hands on some cash. Would be useful to buy some things."

"Huh? What would you even need to buy?"

"Equipment. Things like cooking materials, and other stuff."

"Okay... How are you going to get cash then?"

"Ever heard of street performing?"

"I think so. But, would that really work since you're a Pokemon?"

"No worries, I got just the thing." Beat grinned as his body then began glowing. Snivy had to close his eyes due to the brightness, though as he slowly opened up his eyes again, he widened his eyes at what he saw. Instead of Beat sitting next to him, there was now a young human male around fourteen sitting on the edge of the building with him.

Snivy stared up into the human's eyes with utter shock on his face. The human had fair skin along with a lean build, having smooth green neat hair along with a pair of sea-blue eyes. He had a black t-shirt on along with tight black long pants, wearing also white running shoes and having what appeared to be a green and black set of headphones around his neck.

"B-Beat?"

"Yep. Didn't think I could take on a human form, did you?"

"How?!"

Despite Beat having become a human, Snivy could still easily understand what he was saying despite him talking in the human tongue. It was unknown how Pokemon were capable of understanding what humans were saying naturally, but no one really ever complained as it made it easier for them to communicate.

"I don't know. Whenever I turned into a Pokemon I just gained a bunch of knowledge about my powers, and it seemed that I could do this. Very convenient." Beat shrugged with a smile as Snivy had his mouth still agape. He still found it hard to believe that his new friend used to be a human, but seeing this did help him a bit more. "Unfortunately, I can't keep this form up forever."

"I see... how long?"

"Hmm, I would estimate around eight hours before I'm forced back into my Pokemon form where I'll have to rest for an entire day before I can change again."

"What are you going to perform then? Singing?"

"Naturally. Watch from up here." Beat smiled as he got up and turned around before finding a safe way down the building without being spotted, Snivy just watching from the same spot. Street performing was something he enjoyed back at home, it was actually how he ended up getting noticed by some people who wanted to help him out. He got mainly noticed due to videos that were recorded of him performing. 'I wonder if they have those logic-defying backpacks here...'

Beat couldn't help but wonder as the backpacks that the player character had somehow held hundreds upon hundreds of items, which was very much illogical. If that actually existed here in this world then it would prove to be very useful to have, he could carry something like a damn barbecue or whatever.

"I hope he knows what he's actually doing..." Snivy muttered as he watched as Beat had quickly gotten down and was now seemingly now standing at an empty space on the street as a number of people were walking past. Snivy then noticed something, Beat had his bag and had set it on the ground open. "When did he take my bag from me?!"

Snivy hadn't noticed Beat at all when he had taken his bag from him, he thought it was still on his back! Snivy then shook his head and looked back down towards Beat to see him fiddling around with the headphones as it seemed that it had a number of buttons or something, though he was surprised when music started playing out of them.

He saw Beat smile as the boy then stood tall tapped his foot on the ground as the music got louder and louder. The sound seemed to have caught the people's attention around Beat, Snivy could see them all turning towards Beat in confusion as the boy had his eyes closed. It wasn't too long before Beat opened up his eyes and gave a soft smile.

Beat wanted to sing something that everyone could relate to, because that way everyone who was listening to his music right now could all understand and connect themselves with him. He had the perfect song in mind, it was a song that spoke deeply and delivered the idea of how a parent has helped their child get to where they are now, and to how that child will now do the same to the next generation.

As Beat was singing, the headphones he had around his neck was also amplifying his voice to be produced louder so they can all hear as well as producing the background music. His music could be heard from a good distance so a large number of people had come over to see what was happening.

It didn't take long before there was a massive crowd around Beat now.

The song he was singing was quite the popular one that he himself had wrote in his spare time, Though, while it was one he did in his spare time, that didn't mean he didn't put much effort into it. The meaning behind the song's words were powerful ones, and it seemed to be impacting pretty much everyone around him.

The older ones watching, such as parents and young adults seemed to easily understand the meaning behind the words as those with children seemed to hold them closer as the others just gave smiles as they listened. The children who were probably younger than ten seemed a bit confused as they tried to understand his words, though seemed to somewhat understand after their parents held them closer.

Those who Beat could easily see were trainers, ranging from ages ten to around sixteen maybe were all listening as well as they had smiles on their faces. They seemed to understand the words, and could easily relate since it was their parents that had helped them up to this point of their lives, having become Pokemon trainers and leaving on their journeys.

It wasn't just the humans that were relating to the song, but their Pokemon as well.

Snivy was still listening from atop of the building roof as he was also connecting to the song well. While he may indeed have left his home without their permission, the song did hit him quite a bit. He knew that one day he'll definitely be returning back to his home to say hi to them and face them, but he'll also bring Beat along. They were friends now after all!

Aside from that though, Snivy and all the people couldn't help but marvel in awe at Beat's immense talent for both singing as well as dancing. Beat wasn't dancing too much throughout the song, but whenever he did, his moves were smooth and precise. He reminded them of a certain two idols here in the Unova region, perhaps even better.

The song lasted on for a few more minutes before it slowly came to an end. Beat didn't seem tired at all as he just kept his usual smile, he was used to singing multiple songs without rest so singing a single song was easy for him. He could probably sing for about an hour and a half non-stop before he starts to actually feel the exhaustion.

It's honestly a miracle he hadn't lost his voice.

As Beat switched off his headphones, a bunch of people had come by and dropped off some money into Snivy's bag that he had taken not too long ago. They were great in numbers so he definitely made quite a damn lot. The appearance of the money was also in the form of coins with different numbers, so it was definitely easy to understand.

He had a number of people asking him different questions as everyone had clapped and cheered for him after he had finished singing, some had asked for his name as well. What kind of weirded him out was that a good number of females seemed to have started some kind of Fanclub or whatever on the internet, they seemed to have that here.

He didn't know if it was through some kind of social media platform that this fictional world had, but it kind of worried him that if he became too popular that he would never be able to have a calm walk around cities and such in his human form. If that did happen, then he might have to resort to using a disguise or covering his appearance.

But, he'll worry about that later.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Is this necessary?"

"Yes, it's a failsafe."

"I guess..."

Snivy had groaned as both him and Beat, who was now back to his regular Pokemon form, were now sitting on top of a different building's rooftop as a black and white backpack was present beside Snivy's leaf one. It seemed they were in luck and Beat managed to buy a backpack that apparently worked the same as the ones in the games.

He didn't know how it worked, but he wasn't complaining!

He had taken the liberty to buy a bunch of things such as two tents, one for each of them, and also other materials such as food materials, cooking equipment, and more. Beat knew that Pokemon would usually survive off berries, but there was no way he was going to live just by eating berries for the rest of his life now.

Cooking was vital!

"Ready?"

"As much as I can be I guess." Snivy shrugged as Beat then primed what was easily identified as a Pokeball, causing it to enlarge. He had bought a number of Pokeballs as well as you never know if you'll need them. Right now being a case. He wanted them both to be captured so that trainers that end up seeing them in the future can't catch them.

It was a good failsafe.

Beat then tapped the ball on Snivy's forehead as he was then sucked into the ball. Beat held onto the Pokeball as it shook three times, that was when it soon stopped shaking and released small faint glowing particles that quickly dispersed. He then pressed the button again as the ball opened up and out came Snivy.

"We're not going to need to go back into those things again, are we?"

"I don't know. We might have to, depending on the situation that is. Though, it'll probably be you going into the ball as I'll take on my human form if I'm able to." Beat answered with a small shrug of his shoulders before fishing out another Pokeball. "Okay, I'll need you to do the same to me. We'll then put them into my bag for safekeeping."

"Hear ya loud and clear." Snivy nodded as he did the same thing to Beat. Beat was then sucked into the ball as he looked around, it appeared that he was actually standing in the ball. It was a strange view, it was as if he had shrunk and the top half of the ball was transparent from inside as he could see outside. Snivy's now huge face was staring at the ball he was in.

It didn't take long before he noticed particles now coming off of him before dispersing, that must have been the signal that he had been successfully captured. Beat was then released from the ball as he landed not the ground next to Snivy and turned to him. "Doesn't feel as bad as you thought it would be, right?

"I guess... Though, it still feels strange being inside that ball."

"Meh. So, what's our next move?"

"Well, how about we explore this city for a bit. It wouldn't hurt us at all to check out all the things here." Beat suggested as Snivy just shrugged his shoulders slightly in response before giving a nod.

"Sure, better than doing nothing."
