Davien's P. O. V
I had never been with another man in my entire life, there had just never been an interest between me and a man's body. Certain some men had made advances towards me in the past, but none of them sparked my interest.
Not until I met him.
"They're saying, kiss me."
My hands responded to his words and cupped his face, Kian closed his eyes as I leaned in close to bridge the gap between our lips.
*Ding*
Both Kian and I turned our heads towards the direction of the noise, the noise which happened to be the damned doorbell I had installed midway last year.
Kian reacted sharply and got off me, not waiting to be told, he made for the door, while straightening his clothes.
"Kian wait-" I called out but he stormed off without even making eye contact. My lips twitched as I stood up to go see the bastard who came over at the dead of night to see me.
They'd better have a fucking good reason for it.
"Did I maybe cockblock you or something? You look like shit." Oliver announced stepping into the living room. Thankfully, Kian had cleaned up the documents laid out, so there was nothing to suggest what we were up to.
Not that I didn't trust Oliver completely.
"There's someone else here. Who is it?" Oliver asked with interested eyes.
I opened the fridge and took out two cans of beer, "I take it you didn't drive all this way to pry into my business." I slid his can across the counter with a bit of force, he caught it though, right before it fell off the counter.
"Angry? They must be someone really special, you never take women back home with you. What kind of person was able to make you bend over so easily?" He interrogated eyeing me suspiciously.
"You'd be surprised." I muttered, then stole a glance at the direction of the stairs, praying desperately to the moon goddess he didn't come out.
"So, why did you come?" Judging from his stench, he was just at the club, by the club I meant the liveliest one in the district, the hotspot for all werewolves in the city.
He took two sips before he replied, "There's talk going around, talk that Alpha Renold is trying to form an alliance with Alpha Theo."
"What?" My tone dropped, I hadn't anticipated this, or rather I didn't give it any thought whatsoever.
"It's just smoke and mirrors for now, but if they do join hands, I don't need to point out how detrimental it will be for our pack." He pointed out.
"I know, that snake Renold is the leader of those allying cockroaches, they're not a big cause for concern to me. But if they ally with Alpha Theo, their influence will spread. Plus, they're one of our investors, it wouldn't look good." I said.
But most importantly, it would be a huge blow, since it was Alpha Theo who was one of my biggest supporters. If he pulled out of the alliance, it might spring about a chain reaction.
This was not good.
"Is there anything that implicates them?"
Oliver nodded, "At the club, the guys I saw from the Halfmoon pack were getting pretty chummy with Alpha Theo's men. Not just that, but his daughter Sydney was spotted with the son of Theo's beta. Marcus."
Sydney, why do I keep hearing that name, "Tch," that woman is really formidable, I just can't seem to shake her off.
"Level with me Davien, what do you plan on doing about the whole mating issue? All this is happening because of that kid and the way he acted. If you've already rejected him, doesn't it make sense to move forward with Silvia? She's already doing great in business, marry her and our packs can merge." Oliver told me, making perfect sense with his logic.
But that wasn't how I wanted to do things.
"For now, keep tabs on Halfmoon pack, anything they do make sure to report it to me first. I'll try and contact Alpha Theo." I ordered, glossing over the issue of my mate.
Oliver sighed in defeat, "As you wish." He stood up to leave, but suddenly hesitated, I felt my chest tighten at that moment. Could he have discovered who was upstairs? Kian's scent was just that alluring.
"Oh, Gwen told me to remind you that you have a meeting tomorrow with the board of directors about your failure to seal the deal with Ceaser." He said, I groaned, the problems just kept on coming.
Watching him mount his motorcycle, I couldn't help but feel something was off. I sharply looked over my shoulder, only to see Kian standing by my window, peering down at us.
No, looking closely I could tell that he had his sights on Oliver, and seeing how keenly he kept his gaze on him, my insides burned with anger. At the back of my mind, the thought of how I could've been in bed with Kian if Oliver had only called beforehand, pricked me.
"Give what I said some thought Damien." Oliver said, pulling my attention towards him, I didn't say anything in return, taking my silence as a farewell address, he Kickstarted his bike and drove away.
*Next Morning*
I was never a breakfast person, or rather I never had time to share breakfast or anyone to share it with. I spent my mornings either having morning sex, or in the office, if I slept over from working overtime.
Which was why I found it strange, when Kian took out two bowls and filled it with cereal. I noticed the cereal didn't have any rasins in them, although the box clearly stated rasins were included.
Did he stay up all night taking out the raisins? And more importantly, why did he assume I didn't want raisins in mine as well?
I took a seat at the kitchen counter and stared into my bowl, "You're a really simple guy you know, you're fine with eating basic things." I pointed out, then took a spoon of raisin free cereal.
Casually taking his own seat he responded in a low tone, "I got used to what I was given."
I picked up on the undertone in his words, but didn't want to go digging up his old wounds. For now, it would be best to let him tell me more about himself on his own terms.
Changing the topic he asked, "That man over yesterday, Oliver was it? He's your Beta right?"
It was the first time Kian was taking interest in my pack, but for some reason I got angry. Reluctantly I answered, "He is."
"What kind of person is he?" He probed, I clenched my spoon a bit tighter.
"The human kind." I answered, he knitted his brows but didn't ask anything more, he ate in silence, pouring his undivided attention to the meal.
Was he mad? Over me not talking about Oliver? Damn, thinking about this was making me angrier than I've ever been.
Taking the initiative I spoke up, "About last night.. "
"The deed you found? Since you said you don't want to sit on the fence, I figured you'd go meet with the real owner and smoothen things." Kian stated, blatantly dodging the question.
"That's not it. I'm talking about the kiss…"
He interrupted, "What kiss? I don't recall sharing such skinship with you."
"But it almost happened, mind explaining to me what that was about?" It was just like that fight we had the other day.
Despite his calm temperament, whenever I get serious, he pulls away and avoids the conversation completely. What exactly is he running away from?
"We're both adults, don't you think you should take responsibility for your actions?" I asked him, wanting to tackle the problem of defining exactly what this relationship was exactly.
"Do you want an apology? Because if that's what you're after you can forget it. After all, it was a mistake on both ends, let's forget about that and move on to more important things."
"Move on? What exactly do you mean by that? You were the one who insisted I call off my engagement. As my mate, there is nothing more important than this conversation. So tell me now, what sort of relationship is this?" I demanded in a serious tone, fed up with his evasive answers.
Kian parted his lips but closed them back right away. His attitude towards me was starting to get irritating. A lot of women would go to great lengths to get in bed with me, having him toss me aside was the greatest insult I had ever received.
Finally speaking up he said in a quiet voice, one loud enough for me to hear, "After."
I arched my brows, "After what?" I watched him raise his head from his shoulders, his face was serious, his eyes held mine with an intensity it was maddening.
"After you get back the missing rogues, I'll tell you what our relationship means to me, so be prepared, Mr Alpha." Kian declared, unaware of the anxiety and excitement he caused me all at once.
I reclined my chin onto my palm and tilted my head to the side, a small smile played on my lips, in a firm tone I replied.
"I'll be expecting it, Pup."
