The Marriage Contract: His Conspiracy

Meeting after many years, my ex-boyfriend had become an extremely powerful man. He asked me, "Do you regret dumping me?" I nodded quietly. Getting the answer that he wanted, the arrogant ex-boyfriend left, leaving me alone at a bustling party full of …people. I thought our fate would end like that. I thought he would continue to put on his cold face and do something to hurt me but he unexpectedly proposed to me. No, he wanted me to sign a marriage contract, to be exact. Without thinking much, I nodded in agreement. Approaching his world, I was startled to discover that his world is not as peaceful as I thought. There were so many unanswered questions in my head: Did he still love me? Why did he marry me? What was he up to? I knew Alex had a plot, he was not the one who could throw all of his pride over and over again to hold on to a girl but I still agreed to marry him. This was the only opportunity for me to be with him again.

Chapter three. He lost his mind?

The girl who just bumped into me immediately turned her head when she heard that voice. Her attitude immediately changed, no longer as fierce and uncomfortable as just now. It seemed the man who had just arrived was the one she loved.

"You arrived earlier than I expected, I thought you didn't come before the party started. Luckily I'm here early, otherwise no one will be with you, if so, you will be very bored." the girl said non-stop. She walked quickly towards the man as she said.

Along with the girl's steps, the figure of a man was somewhat revealed.

"Don't worry about such petty things anymore. She looks like an ordinary employee, making money is not easy. How can she give you another dress? If you like it, I will take you to buy another one." The familiar voice startled me.

Although I only saw the side of the man's face, I was very sure it was him. The man who appeared in my dreams every night and was the same man I dumped years ago.

"I listen to you." The girl smiled and took one of Alex's hands.

Her eyes looked at Alex admiringly and his eyes looked at her also very tenderly, the two held hands very naturally, like this was a very normal action that they did every day.

Were they lovers?

Most likely so.

I shook my head disdainfully, my story with Alex was in the past, I was the one who caused him pain. Whoever he fell in love with or married had nothing to do with me.

Alex was still holding her hand, pulling her towards me.

My body trembled with every step he took.

Five years had passed, I had thought about the scene where we met again many times and everything turned out almost as I imagined.

After five years, my life was still very bad. I appeared in front of him in a disheveled look but he was still as cold and arrogant as ever. He of today was still the same as he of the past. If I had to point out one difference, it was that he is more mature and successful now.

Yes, to be a guest at such parties, he must be more or less a person of high status in society.

Seeing me, he was extremely calm, as if I were an unimportant girl who had no influence on him.

No one could love someone forever. Five years had passed, a lot of things had changed, I in his memory may be faint.

He slowly approached me, calmly said. "You can go now."

His attitude was very polite, but his words were extremely cold, like just saying one more sentence to me would make him tired.

"She bumped into me. You can't let her go so easily." The girl next to him pouted.

"Okay, don't be angry anymore, it's really not worth being angry just because of an unrelated person." He gently stroked the girl's hair.

"Okay." She looked at Alex fondly. "I will listen to you. I won't make her pay for the dress."

Then she turned to face me, raising her voice. "Next time you have to walk carefully, not everyone is as easy going as me."

I ignored her and focused on Alex's expression. He was not surprised, not angry, or even a little bit attached.

He really treated me like a stranger.

I laughed at myself, I was the one who threw away our love but it was also me who couldn't forget the past, couldn't get rid of the guilt for giving up on our love.

"Thank you, Alex!" I lowered my sight.

I should leave this place. The flowers were broken. I had to find other similar flowers to replace them.

The price of the flowers was not cheap, I had to pay for it with my own money. Thinking about the hard earned money made me feel sad in my heart.

"You know me?" Surprise was evident on his face. When he said that, I was the one who was really scared.

Why did he say that?

Has he lost his mind?

Or he pretended to have amnesia.

Or was he planning something to insult me?

No, I immediately dismissed that thought. A bad girl like me didn't deserve Alex to lower his value because of me.

After that unhappy farewell at the library that year, Alex and I didn't contact each other anymore, but I knew he made it. He really succeeded.

In the only class meeting that I attended, everyone talked about him.

After graduating from university, he started his own business. His business was not favorable at first and even went bankrupt a few times but he was still determined to follow the path he had chosen.

Finally Alex succeeded, He was the founder of AL technology, a technology corporation that was rapidly growing. According to experts, in just a few years, AL would dominate the technology market.

Alex from a prince admired by many girls had turned into a successful man that any girl wanted to have.

Seeing me bewildered, Alex looked at me suspiciously.

"Do you know me?" He asked again.

I regained my composure, stepped closer to Alex, carefully observing his every expression to confirm if he was teasing me.

"And you, do you know me?" I whispered.

Alex shook his head. "Have we met before?" He said, confused.

"No."

It didn't matter anymore, whatever he had in mind, it didn't matter anymore.

We no longer had any relationship.

"Then why do you know my name?" Alex inquired.

"Online." I replied calmly, but I was obviously not calm.

I once again judged Alex, he didn't look like he was acting at all.

His facial features were still the same as before, but his aura was completely different. He was no longer an active guy who liked to laugh but had become a quiet successful man.

Alex frowned at me. It seemed he was not satisfied with my answer.

"Only my family and close friends call me Alex." He objected. "My name is Alexander Stephen, people call me Mr. Stephen."
