Chapter 7: Everything at Home? (Edited)

After buying some snacks for her son and daughter, Elena took the siblings for a walk through Diagon Alley, an activity they affectionately called "stroll and eat."

Since Bell wanted to go into every store to see what they were selling, their pace was not exactly fast.

As they strolled, Bell bought a beginner-friendly broomstick and then spent a long time in a pet shop. Bell would love to have a pet, but considering that Shanna was still very young and could get hurt by a pet, he finally gave up on the idea.

In a magical accessories store, Bell explored the place with great interest alongside Shanna and then asked a curious question: "Mom, how does the Remembrall detect if the person holding it has forgotten something?"

Upon hearing that question, Elena was left speechless.

'How do they work? I have no idea! I've never thought about that question before!'

Elena coughed a couple of times, trying to maintain her dignity as a mother.

"It's just very powerful magic cast onto a glass sphere, and that's what makes it work."

"Is there anything else? Do you have any other questions?"

Realizing that Elena was showing signs of being upset, Bell quickly backtracked.

"No, Mom, I just want this." Bell pointed to the Remembrall.

"We already have one at home. When we get back, Mom will give it to you to play with."

"Oh."

Quickly, Bell found another magical accessory that interested him: the Two-Way Mirror.

"Mom, how... uh... Mom, I want this."

Elena had the strange feeling that her authority as a mother had been compromised by what had just happened.

She squinted and looked at Bell for a while, then smiled and said, "We already have one at home. When we get back, Mom will give it to you to play with."

"Really? I like it!"

Bell took Shanna's hand, and they continued to explore.

"Mom, this Two-Way Mirror..."

"We already have one at home."

Elena nipped in the bud what Bell was about to say next. After all, even she thought her previous explanation had been a bit forced. What if Bell asked how a Two-Way Mirror was made? She had no idea! They never taught her that at Hogwarts...

Right! It's Hogwarts' fault! It's because Hogwarts' curriculum is poorly designed that she didn't know! It's definitely not her fault. After all, she was the Prefect and an exemplary student in her time.

"..."

"No, how come we have everything at our house?" Bell asked in surprise.

"There's nothing wrong with having some extra magical accessories. We have almost everything that can be bought on the magical accessories market, and we've also accumulated some items that aren't easily found," Elena said casually.

Faced with his mother's heartless statement, Bell could only think that she was doing very well.

Since they already had everything at home, Bell lost interest in further browsing. Seeing that it was already lunchtime, Bell decided to buy some books at Flourish and Blotts and call it a day for shopping.

However...

"There's a library on the fourth floor of our house with even more books than the bookstore. If you want to read something, you can look for it there."

"..."

"It's lunchtime now. How about Mom takes you to the Leaky Cauldron to eat? The Leaky Cauldron is very famous, and although it's a bar, the food is really good," Elena suggested.

'I think anyone with hands can make a decent meal compared to English food. Or maybe with their feet?'

However, Bell only dared to think that in his mind. Saying something like that in the middle of the street could get him into trouble.

"No, Shanna is too young! How can you take her to a bar? Besides, I've heard there aren't many decent people at the Leaky Cauldron. What if Shanna misbehaves! It's better if we go home for lunch. Shanna is tired, too, and should take a nap after eating."

Elena reflected and realized that she had underestimated the situation, so she took the two siblings back home to end their shopping day.

After lunch, Shanna, who was already tired from walking, fell asleep immediately.

Although Bell was a bit tired too, he was excited to have his wand for the first time. He caressed it and took care of it as described in the book, and finally, he prepared to try his first spell.

He opened "Standard Spells, Beginner Level" and found the first spell taught: the Lumos Spell. Bell had already memorized the words and the required wand movement to cast the spell, but since it was his first real attempt at magic, he decided to review it again for caution.

After performing the movement several times to make sure there were no errors, Bell stood up with determination and headed to the garden.

"Lumos."

Bell confidently pronounced the spell as he moved the wand, and then... did it work?

Seeing the flash of cold light emanating from the tip of the wand, Bell felt a little stunned.

Was it so easy to succeed?

Bell felt that all the seriousness and tension he had shown before seemed unnecessary, as if he were performing for a blind audience.

Bell was initially concerned that casting his first spell would be a difficult task, full of challenges and obstacles. But in the end... did it turn out to be so simple?

Well, no matter how you look at it, successfully casting a spell is always a good thing. It seems like he was being a bit nervous with himself.

After casting the Lumos spell several more times and releasing the mental tension, Bell was able to perform it easily. After all, it was a very basic spell, perhaps that was normal?

Bell flipped ahead in "Standard Spells, Beginner Level" and found the second spell taught in the book: the Repairing Spell.

This time, he wasn't as nervous as before, but he remained cautious. He practiced the spell's movement several times before attempting to cast it for real.

Bell tore a small piece of the book page.

"Reparo."

"..."

Once again, Bell succeeded. The torn piece of the book flew back to its place and merged with the page, leaving no trace of it having been ripped.

Hmm... basic spells, standard procedures.

Then, Bell tried some slightly more difficult spells, like the "Diffindo Spell," the "Reducto Spell," and the "Petrificus Totalus Spell." Bell also succeeded in casting them with ease, although their effects... were rather null.

He was beginning to get it. By reciting the spell with conviction, guiding the magic through the correct movements and the right gesture, the spell worked. It was like doing addition and subtraction calculations on a calculator: if you input the right numbers and formula, you got the right answer.

After investigating magic for a while, Bell began to feel that his body couldn't take it anymore. After all, he was only 5 years old, he had been walking around the city for hours, and he had been practicing magic. His body was seriously protesting.

'Ugh, how I miss the days when I was surrounded by my wives on my phone,' he thought to himself as he returned to his little sister's room. There, he lay down on the bed and fell into a deep sleep, holding his beloved sister Shanna.
