The Lifegivers

My right hand is so amazing that it can make any inanimate objects come to life. Crazy, right? Do you think I’m god? Nah, I'm just a freshman in college with all his problems. However, my brother sucks. He's a selfish prick who wants to see the world burn. Looks like I have to use my power to stop him. That must be really sucks. By the way, my name is Evan. I'm an alien from a planet called Xionezsoqiuvenoririrexunaxiantiqinoverizovadusuruxivurunzezex. Being an alien is also sucks.

41. Hanging Out with Spec Ops Members

Many types of luxurious food served at a large table. Still wearing the beanie on his head, Pieter moved his fork and knife slowly. His casual appearance due to the hoodie he wore was a stark contrast to the bodyguards standing in several corners of that large room. They all wore neat black suits.

"I hope you're happy." Grigio, who was sitting opposite Pieter, smiled.

"Well, I actually prefer beer, fast food, and women." Snickering, Pieter looked at a piece of meat in his fork, then popped it into his mouth. "But, I appreciate your welcome, even though I don't want it."

Grigio slightly moved his head to the side. The veins on his neck were slightly protruding, a sign that he was holding back his anger.

The people who were given power by Dovi were mostly like this. They consider themselves much stronger than others. Grigio hated such an attitude.

They will only submit to the big boss.

"So, what should I do?" Pieter took a sip of his wine. His face immediately frowned and his tongue stuck out. It was obvious that he didn't like that drink at all.

Grigio got up from his chair and started walking away. Having only met for a while, he was fed up with Pieter's behavior.

"You just have to go on a rampage in public ." Grigio pauses at the glass wall of the room, which offers views of the metropolitan city.

"Rampage in a public?" Pieter chuckled. "Did I hear you right?"

Grigio glanced at the man. "The mission is to lure someone out. After he appears, you have to catch him, not to kill him."

Pieter gave a big yawn and got up from his seat. "I'll hear your briefing later. I'm going to sleep first. I'm so sleepy."

Pieter walked away lazily.

"Did you forget that my rank is higher than you?" Grigio spoke in a cold tone. He did not look at Pieter at all. "Our Big Boss doesn't like people who take a mission lightly."

"I know." Pieter started walking away. "Goodbye."

"Remember, I managed to persuade the big boss to bring one monster into this country. That is a very big request. Usually, such a thing will not be approved." Grigio continued in an emphatic tone. "The question is, what if I ask for something smaller? Well, for example, what if I ask him to eliminate one of the members? Do you think the big boss will agree?"

Pieter stopped walking, chuckled a little, and walked over to Grigio. Grigio turned to Pieter without showing any fear.

"You say something interesting, old man." Pieter stopped just inches from Grigio, then smiled broadly. "Have you forgotten who I am?"

"And have you forgotten who I am?" Grigio hissed. "I am Grigio, one of the longest-standing members of this organization. I am trusted by the big boss to do important jobs."

The old man brought his mouth closer to Pieter's ear, then whispered in a sharp tone, "My life is more valuable than yours. In the end, you are just a hitman while I play a big role in the organization. I guarantee you, if I die, the big boss will be very very angry. Do you know why? Because he lost one of his most loyal aides. Do you know what happens when the big boss gets really angry?"

As Grigio retreated, Pieter gave that man a sharp look. Grigio didn't care and walked away.

Snorting irritably, Pieter finally sat back down to his seat.

"You will lure a man who is suspected of having superpowers that are equivalent to gods." Grigio continued. "People call him the life-giver ..."

Grigio's words are interrupted by the large door which suddenly bursts open with a loud sound. A guard in a suit was thrown in.

"Aah, Dovi's bitch." Grigio hissed at the sight of the spider monster in black, sleeveless tight clothes. The monster entered while dragging another unconscious guard.

"Well, well, well." Pieter took off the beanie on his head and just threw it away. Then, he got up and took off the hoodie and t-shirt he was wearing. Now, his muscular body was clearly visible. And then, substances that shaped like dark blue mud gleamed out of his skins and quickly enveloped his body.

In a short time, the man had become a multi-horned monster, with bright red eyes, and very long fangs.

And of course, his hands were shaped like sharp blades.

"Hey, my name is Pieter. What's yours? I never saw you in the organization." Pieter said in a hoarser, deeper voice.

The spider monster, who was actually Lexi, didn't answer at all.

Dressed in all black special forces clothes complete with headgear, Evan sat in a truck with a group of real special forces. The truck was heading to a place that was suspected to have been visited by a monster sent from abroad.

The atmosphere was so stressful for Evan. He was surrounded by people who were very focused, and so intimidating to him. It made him unable to concentrate on hearing the person sitting at the end. All Evan knew it seemed that person was the squad leader.

"Hey, you that sit on the other end, are you listening!!??" The squad leader snapped loudly.

Evan gasped violently. He knew right away that it was him who was being scolded.

One of the members of the squad raised his hand. It was Bob who sat next to Evan.

"With all due respect, sir. He hasn't had enough training. He's probably still too nervous." Bob explained in a brisk tone.

The squad leader gave Bob a sharp look. "Then he is your responsibility, Bob!"

"Roger that!" Bob answered firmly, then turned to Evan and spoke, "Now bring this thing to life, so we can fight better."

Bob held out a gun. Swallowing hard, Evan placed his palm on that firearm. His heart started beating very fast. He couldn't concentrate because those people with stern expressions were watching him. As a result, not a single glimmer of light emanated from his right hand. That young man then kept trying several times but always failed.

With stiff movements, Evan looked up, then laughed awkwardly. A laugh that he shouldn't be letting out at a time like this. "Sorry."

The people there stared at Evan with an increasingly sharp expression. They don't seem to like what's going on. The atmosphere made Evan feel even tenser, his stomach muscles become tense too. He wanted to poop very badly because of that. This is more terrifying than meeting a monster.
