The Last Demon Slayer

A loud banging sound could be heard from the trunk of an old car that was parked inside an abandoned warehouse. The inhumane rocking of the car was accompanied by a muffled scream. "Shhh... Be quiet..." One said as she slowly opened the trunk and pulled the poor lady out from it. The two suspicious characters that were wearing clown masks tied the poor lady in the middle of the floor where a big pentagram was scribbled. "MSHGGSKKSSSSH!!!!" The poor lady made a desperate attempt to scream but it was to no avail. One of her assailants had the heart to remove her gag but the first thing that she asked as soon as it was removed was, "Is this a prank??? I know it was you, Cassie. That shirt is mine." As soon as she heard her name, Cassie removed her mask. "Ana, don't panic. We will just exorcise you, okay? Calm down. After all of this is done, we could just all pretend that none of this ever happened in the first place." "What?!!!!!! You're crazy, Cassie!" "NO! Look, you tried to strangle me with a belt last night. But don't worry because I don't blame you for that. You were possessed and right now we will exorcise that demon out from your body." "No-----mmmpphhhh" Before the lady named Ana could even speak another word of protest, Cassie already gagged her again with that same piece of cloth that they used before. "So what are we gonna do next?" "You have to pee on her?" "No way! I would never pee on my best friend! Jared, that's insane!" "Then let us just all forget about this whole exorcism thing then because it was clearly written here. Instruction No.1. You have to mark the subject with your own scent." 15 years after the accident

~~~Cassie's POV~~~
Hi! It's me, again. Cassiopeia Everdeen, Cassie for short; and this was how my life had been fifteen years after the accident.
So I walked down the familiar hallway with light steps; the sound of my own footsteps registered clearly on my ears as I walked.
I leisurely took my time, walking. I was not in a bit of a hurry at all.
I know my doctor has been waiting for me in his office already, but I'm sure he can wait for a few more minutes.
I mean, yes, he probably had already waited for me like, good half an hour already. So I don't think adding a few more minutes on top of that would hurt.
Anyway, so as I descended down the empty corridor my eyes could not help but wander around me. Everything was painted white and they were squeaky clean.
This was one of the many things I loved about this place. The tidiness was top-notch. Plus, all of the staff here were good people as well. I could not ask for more.
They made my stay here very interesting. It felt like home to me.
At the same time, the smell of disinfectant lingered on my nostrils. But I am not bothered by it. Some might find this smell unwelcoming, but for me, it was actually comforting.
Yeah, I know. Sounds weird right????
Well, that was how I became anyway. Because after what happened to me that day, my life never became normal again.
It did not take that long before I arrived at the doorstep of Dr. Smith's office.
At this point, I found myself wondering,
"Is he going to give me an ultimatum?"
But I immediately dismissed the thought just as soon as it came to me. After a long moment of contemplation but still coming up with nothing at all, I finally let out an exasperated sigh.
'Come what may!'
I thought to myself. Then I knocked on the other party's door to announce my presence.
"Dr. Smith, it's me, Cas----.
"Come in."
His voice sounded from the opposite side of the door as soon as he heard me. He answered the door way too fast that it made me certain that he was indeed expecting me to come to his office.
"Ms. Everdeen I ask you to come here and have a conversation with me because I want to tell you something."
OBVIOUSLY?!!
A tiny voice inside my head rebuked my doctor's words. But I did not let that show to my face. I kept a nonchalant facade outside and let him finished what he was about to say.
"The team decided to cut your supplies of pimavanserin from now on."
"Are you kidding me?!!!"
Before I could even stop myself from saying my thoughts out loud, I already blurted that out.
"No. I am dead serious here, Ms. Everdeen. Trust me, you're as good as new now. You're ready to face the world again. You are just like anyone else."
He made it sound like it was such a piece of great news to hear, but I am not buying it.
"Ready???"
I repeated with a scoff. I could not believe what he just told me.
"Ready just as how everyone else could ever be. You cannot expect us to allow you to coop up yourself here for eternity. It's time for you to enjoy a normal life."
'Well, I am pretty sure that more than anyone else, I could tell by myself whether I am ready or not. Right now, I don't think I am anywhere near to becoming ready.'
NOT YET!
That was what I wanted to tell him. I wanted to tell that to my doctor right to his face.
But of course, I did not.
I did not let my emotions cloud my rationality and took the better half of me.
Instead, I tried to sound more subservient...
Or let us just say, at least I tried,
