Training The New Members

I woke up as the carriage was coming to a stop in an open field that was filled with low level and medium level monsters. I sat up and nudged Ruby and Maria awake and they sat up and stretched.

"Is this the place?" Ruby wrote.

"Yeah, here you and Sofia will be able to train and once we see your levels we can then look to see if there is a dungeon in the area" Maria replied patting Ruby on the head as we exited the carriage. Hibana and Mia were outside looking around and Sofia was sitting on a stump ahead of the carriage.

"You guys sure took your time waking up" Mia remarked as we walked over.

"I slept good and the carriage was comfortable so I lost track of time"

"Alright besides that lets test Sofia and Ruby's abilities. This is the perfect place there are plenty of low level monsters and the occasional mid level to high level"

Ruby walked over to Sofia and Maria and I walked to Mia and Hibana.

"This is a good chance to test them and we can also search the area and see if there are any dungeons in the area that we could clear. We might even find some high level monsters for us to train on"

"If there are no dungeons around we can always train by sparing with each other. We are all high rank after all and it would be a good chance to level up and experience combat with other high ranks in case we have to fight humans again"

Ruby and Sofia came over and Sofia said

"We are ready, lets train"

We all went into the field and Sofia and Ruby led us towards their first monsters, which were green slimes.

"I'll go first" Sofia said and she approached the slime. Sofia grabbed a stick and cast an enchantment over it that was unknown to me. The stick glowed a light yellow and looked light a light steam was emitting from it. Sofia lunged forward and swung at the slime slicing it in two and the slime didn't reproduce. The slime began to dissolve instead and that's when Maria spoke,

"That poison she used must have been a zeelroot. I heard that it had the ability to dissolve the person it is used on but I didn't imagine that it would be able to work on a slime. That is very impressive and could be useful in the future"

Sofia walked back over and it was now Ruby's turn. Ruby tugged on my jacket and I turned around

"If I do good can I get a reward" was written and she was blushing. I patted her head and replied,

"Sure, you can have whatever you want if you do good"

Ruby nodded and went ahead of us with her pencil and paper. She began to draw and I turned to Maria and she looked at me and shrugged.

I turned back and watched as she drew. Ruby finished drawing and lifted her pencil and pointed at the slime. A large rune appeared in front of the pencil and a giant rock fell from the sky and landed on the slime crushing it.

"I have heard of this magic before but I didn't think anyone had known how to use it. It was believed to be a lost magic" Maria said

"What was it. How did she do that" I asked

"It's called Argicus or Imaginus depending on the language you are speaking. It was a form of magic that dwarves are taught at a young age which allows them to use art, drawings or their imagination to cast magic depending on how strong the dwarf is" Sofia replied.

"That is insane, If Ruby wants she could become extremely powerful" I said.

"The problem is that Ruby doesn't use it that much because she needs a reason to use it or a purpose. At Least that's what she told me when we were back at the slave auction so I wonder why she can use it now"

Ruby turned around and came up to me with her paper

"Did I do good, was I impressive"

"Yes you did excellent" I said patting Ruby on the head. Ruby was smiling but I could feel the envious gazes from Mia, Maria, and Hibana.

"Alright now that we have seen your abilities we should go further and see how you guys fair against harder monster"

"Alright"

We walked further and we approached a small forest and stopped.

"In here there should be a few goblins and maybe a few kobolds so this will be more challenging than before. Are you guys ready?"

"Yes" Sofia replied

"Yes" Ruby wrote

Little did we know that there was a greater threat dwelling in these woods I could feel a little bit of malice coming from the forest but I paid it no mind and sent Huggin to scout and return if there were any problems. I was watching over Sofia and Ruby with Hibana Mia and Maria.
