Synopsis

Chapter 1The Encounter

The year is 547 after the Kingdom of Avalon first stood, there is a boy named, Arden, living in the dark alley of Atlan, the Capital City of Avalon.

One day, when he was making some handmade thing to sell at the market, Arden heard many commotions outside his house.

He decided to look at the window and saw the duke of Aswen, a province on the western part of the kingdom.

Marching with his army to the Keep of Dragonmane, answering the call of arms from the king to fight the kingdom of Bisvirb in a war.

Arden then realised it's almost night and continued his doing.

The next morning, Arden wake up late, then quickly get dressed and went to the market to sell his thing.

He used the alley as a shortcut since he is already familiar with the alley.

Suddenly, he bumped into a person using a dirty robe covering its face; he chased the person thinking it was a thief cause his thing disappeared from his bag.

He tackled the person but the person wrestle against him making him lost his grip on the person.

They both stand up and the person opened its hood, it's the Duke of Aswen!! Arden quickly apologizes but the duke said: "You are pretty strong, you want to follow me as a soldier?"

It's hard to find a strong young man this day." Arden quickly said "Yes" thinking it was a good opportunity to make something out of himself.

Arden respond "Yes, I want to follow you. But first, let me sell this thing of mine", the duke agreed and told Arden to meet him at the local pub.

Arden and the duke split up after Arden sold all of his things. He goes to the local pub in the area and sat down at a table.

The waitress came to him "What do you want to order sir". Arden told her that he was waiting for someone not to come to eat.

The waitress insisted he must order or get kicked out from the bar, this is when the duke come inside, sit at the same table and told the waitress he liked to have 1 glass of beer.

The waitress finally gave up after this and prepared the order from the duke. The duke and Arden then introduced their self to each other.

He learned that the duke name is Aswick and told Arden to go prepare himself today cause they are going to leave the city tomorrow to the Province of Aswen and meet the army at the gates.

Arden prepared himself and bring all the coins he had.

When the sun was rising, Arden is already waiting at the city gate and met the duke and his army there.

He was given a sword and shield, also a small knife to use in case of emergency. The journey to the Province of Aswen has begun!

The principal character in the book, "Fortune favors the bold", is a polygamous, heartless African man, although socially respected and perceived as cursed as a result of an unexpected bad turn on events. On a migration mission, Asweda losses all his wealth to thieves, his gardener is killed, and his child becomes critically sick. He heartlessly butchered one of the thieves on a defense mission. Asweda makes a hard decision to bury his gardener in a strange foreign bush land and later haunts him and demands to be buried in ancestral land. Asweda ignores the cleansing ceremony which comes along with serious consequences. The now poor African man plots rustling exercise in an attempt to gain wealth, killing an 'Oromo' man, in the process running away with a large, s number of cattle. The Oromo men attacked him on a revenge mission, chopping off his leg and throwing him in a cave where he spent quite some time eating rats for survival. The African polygamous man later reunites with the family only to find all his wives already inherited. He struggled to own back his wives. Asweda sires a son at his old age. Twelve years later, he blesses his son Obulala and then dies partially satisfied. His brother Ocholi also dies mysteriously. Betrayal, cunningness wealth and poverty manifest in Asweda's lineage.
