THE INEVITABLE HIM

A one night stand with a White waitress in a club was all it took to make him. He had no father but an owner he had. He owned him..turned him into the demon he is now. At the age of eight, he killed the humanity and love he had. "To make you strange and a worthy successor. I don't need any weakling." Akim always roared at him. The day he died the Devil got a free ticket to leave South Africa for good. Revenge from their rival Mafia gang was not in his plans. He wouldn't shed the blood of his people. He needed the for something better. To build a legitimate global empire. He worked his ass of to be a better version than Akim had in mind. He would own it all, by any means necessary. The world wasn't fair so don't blame him if he stumbled on you in the course of fulfilling his plans. You needed to keep up to be able to work for or with him. He had a family, though not perfect, the gang always had his back and so did he. At the age of twenty -six, Lucifer as he was popularly known by his close men was the most eligible bachelor, and the youngest richest business man in the country and beyond. He said it and he did it yet, there was always something else to do. Something better. He might be crazy for wanting to conquer the world, but that was his plan. Lucifer was never the type to run, he never backed down....and though a tiny part of him wanted to, he couldn't. His demons were part of him. He was his own devil. The part of him which thrilled at the site of violence and smiled at the pains and fear in the eyes of others strived and dominated his soul. He wanted out but who was he kidding, his demons were his source of power. Power, which sucks humanity out of him. Lucifer had made his name in the Europeans countries, but he felt that there would be much profit and a fulfilling tap into the culture of Africa which would in no doubt be a jackpot for him. He was a business man and so knew his fact. Africa....he dreaded and loved. He was sure of his target..where else but Ghana..a foreign environment. He was yet to find out that Ghana would give him the encounter of his life.... Kara, popularly called Nana is the "unwanted" bastard of the Agyemang family. Her mother Esther got pregnant with her white boyfriend during her college years overseas. Her mother came home with a baggage instead of the promised degrees. Being the daughter of a strict African home, ones thought would be to disappear for good and bear the shame alone. The family frowned upon her actions, turned their backs on her and was disowned by her father. Single handedly, with help from her uncle, her mother raised her to become a typical Ghanaian child. Even with her fair skin and brunette hair...she was in no doubt a Ghanaian by actions. Many often got confused yet her calm nature and respect for every custom of the society irrespective of it's flaws made her Ghanaian. Kara lived her life like a story being told. She drew her plans from the moment Uncle Kwesi sat her down and told her of the story behind her birth and why she didn't have a father or a large family. She knew who her father was. At least she had a picture of him, a picture shut away. She was satisfied with having her mom and uncle in her life. They enough for her, she convinced herself. Nana's greatest fear is repeating her mother's mistake...Don't get her wrong, she respected her mom immensely, she was by far the strongest woman she had ever know. That didn't change the fact that she would like to write some of her wrongs. Nor did it change the feeling which ate her up all the time...She was an accident and that was something that even she couldn't make right. Being the child of a single mother in a Ghanaian society, there was a lot to do and not do. No matter the amount of wealth, the society would always see you as the daughter of the unmarried woman and hence, you are required to put in much effort to everything you do. Kara wanted her mom to know n feel that her birth was her biggest achievement

CHAPTER 12: Black and White pt2

Kara smiled upon reminiscing their conversation. She undressed and headed to the bathroom, a very huge extravagant one. She would never on such a bath. It was too sophisticated for a personal secretary. "Well, not just the PA of any company Nana. REFICUL". She reminded herself as droplets of water wetted her skin and hair

Hakeem glared at Lucifer as if he would pounce on him anytime. He watched as Lucifer went through the files on his office desk. They were both at his pent house as expected, Hakeem visited Lucifer the moment he left the hotel after being amused by his assistant. Hakeem thought that Lucifer would relieve him of his duties in Boston, however, it turned out that he thought wrong. His friend, and boss extended his position as the acting CEO for two more months. His decision was final, the devil wasn't putting it up for discussion.

" Adriel, this whole plan or whatever it is ain't fun". Lucifer dropped the file on the table in annoyance. He sat comfortably, relaxing himself in the chair as he intertwined his long fingers. "You have taken a habit in calling that name these days" Lucifer spoke cracking his knuckles. Hakeem still didn't change his expression. He needed to know the plan of his friend and his role in it."Oh..okay. Is Kara giving you problems. Is she inefficient or something ". He genuinely inquired. Hakeem stood up abruptly making Lucifer raise a brow. " Do you wanna fuck her? Is that what this whole thing is about?" Hakeem asked, loosing his patient.

Lucifer gave a wide smile. He stood up to the center of his office which was elegantly decorated with black sofas, a wooden table made if mahogany. He took a seat in "his" chair. Hakeem still stood beside Lucifer's desk wearing a sulking expression. " Stop sulking and come sit down Hakeem". Lucifer spoke. Hakeem sighed and complied. He sat down and sighed. Lucifer leaned forward, giving his friend a serious look. He nodded as if he was replying a question. " You are right. I want her. It's a huge desire and I need to satisfy it. I met her three years ago. God knows how I was able to keep myself together and not make her mine right there in the males washroom. Ugh...she was young then, too young." He spoke with his head still bent.

Hakeem was taken aback for a moment. He couldn't quite put a name on what his friend was feel. He was sure that there was desire, but he couldn't help but feel like there was something else. " So yeah, I want her and more now that he is my reach. Get it now?". Lucifer concluded. Hakeem gave a frown. "Lucifer, why all this trouble? You want her, and I get that. But what else are you hoping to get from her? I can't help but feel that you want something else" Hakeem stated. Hakeem relaxed in his chair, keeping his steady eyes on his friend who genuinely seemed interested or he would even say that it was concern he saw.

This was the first time he had been asked the obvious question. "What else did he want from Kara. Why had he grown fond of the memories of someone else. What exactly did he desire?" The question roamed in his current confused mind. He looked at his friend who looked at him expectantly. Lucifer gave a short laugh followed by his answer. " We will have to wait and find that out. Whatever it is, I will get it. Now, let's talk business ". Hakeem shook his head and smiled. " Alright. I will try not to interfere. And oh, I will try not get involved with her". He joked, a joke which was not appreciated.

"Let your words remain a joke Hakeem." Lucifer warned.

Hakeem realised that he was right all along. His friend was already showing signs of possessiveness over a girl who didn't even know of his existence. Or was he wrong? He asked himself.

Kara had been stating at the unknown faces of the world's biggest business men and God help her if she makes any mistake during the party, she would really think that she was either dumb or bad with memorization. The young nice waiter who served her was still around. "Hey, please I'm Kara." Kara spoke politely. The guy looked thrilled, it was hard to hide his excitement. " Kara, nice. I'm Jake. You.. nice hair.....He stammered. "Sorry, that was weird....I mean to say..." Kara laughed. "Don't worry. Thanks You have great hair as well". Jake gave a sheepish smile. " Okay...so what can I do for you...another juice? You have been taking that a lot. And....well..." Kara smiled. " Yeah, I needed to be active. But I'm gonna take a walk now. Can you please keep my bag for me. Somewhere safe? I will not take long." Kara requested. Jake smiled and grabbed her bag, assuring her if it's safety. " Got it. It will be here when you come back". Kara thanked him and headed off to the beach.

Kara wore a green beach dress and a slipper which was adorned with beads at the ankle making it look like a n anklet from afar. As always, she wore her brown leather watch which she keep safe, neat and new. She was amazed when amazed when she opened the closest in the room She wasn't expecting so much cloth for every event. Different dresses, footwear, watches, shades, bracelets, even bikini. She knew that the employees of REFICUL were always treated well, but never did she imagine that it was to that extent or even close to it.

The beach didn't look busy and she loved it. Few youngsters, she smiled at her choice of words, "Youngsters". She was one herself, she still was an adult, she defended herself from herself. They played valley ball and other games. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. She saw us men as always tried tried their luck by hitting on ladies. Couples openly showed affection for each other. Kara took of her slippers and moved to the shore of the sea. As close as she could get to. She enjoyed the weaves, the calmness, friendliness and she ridiculously felt comforted as the waters climbed to wet her legs. It was peace. " Peace", she mumbled.

"Peace indeed". A muscular voice interrupted her " peace". Startled, Kara turned to see a tall, brunette haired white man staring at her wearing a rewarded smile. Yes, a rewarded smile, as if he had been given a gift. He was in no doubt attractive. His small blue eyes was one to watch twice. Kara was confused. "Who was the man and what was making him smile like a two year old?"...
