THE INEVITABLE HIM

A one night stand with a White waitress in a club was all it took to make him. He had no father but an owner he had. He owned him..turned him into the demon he is now. At the age of eight, he killed the humanity and love he had. "To make you strange and a worthy successor. I don't need any weakling." Akim always roared at him. The day he died the Devil got a free ticket to leave South Africa for good. Revenge from their rival Mafia gang was not in his plans. He wouldn't shed the blood of his people. He needed the for something better. To build a legitimate global empire. He worked his ass of to be a better version than Akim had in mind. He would own it all, by any means necessary. The world wasn't fair so don't blame him if he stumbled on you in the course of fulfilling his plans. You needed to keep up to be able to work for or with him. He had a family, though not perfect, the gang always had his back and so did he. At the age of twenty -six, Lucifer as he was popularly known by his close men was the most eligible bachelor, and the youngest richest business man in the country and beyond. He said it and he did it yet, there was always something else to do. Something better. He might be crazy for wanting to conquer the world, but that was his plan. Lucifer was never the type to run, he never backed down....and though a tiny part of him wanted to, he couldn't. His demons were part of him. He was his own devil. The part of him which thrilled at the site of violence and smiled at the pains and fear in the eyes of others strived and dominated his soul. He wanted out but who was he kidding, his demons were his source of power. Power, which sucks humanity out of him. Lucifer had made his name in the Europeans countries, but he felt that there would be much profit and a fulfilling tap into the culture of Africa which would in no doubt be a jackpot for him. He was a business man and so knew his fact. Africa....he dreaded and loved. He was sure of his target..where else but Ghana..a foreign environment. He was yet to find out that Ghana would give him the encounter of his life.... Kara, popularly called Nana is the "unwanted" bastard of the Agyemang family. Her mother Esther got pregnant with her white boyfriend during her college years overseas. Her mother came home with a baggage instead of the promised degrees. Being the daughter of a strict African home, ones thought would be to disappear for good and bear the shame alone. The family frowned upon her actions, turned their backs on her and was disowned by her father. Single handedly, with help from her uncle, her mother raised her to become a typical Ghanaian child. Even with her fair skin and brunette hair...she was in no doubt a Ghanaian by actions. Many often got confused yet her calm nature and respect for every custom of the society irrespective of it's flaws made her Ghanaian. Kara lived her life like a story being told. She drew her plans from the moment Uncle Kwesi sat her down and told her of the story behind her birth and why she didn't have a father or a large family. She knew who her father was. At least she had a picture of him, a picture shut away. She was satisfied with having her mom and uncle in her life. They enough for her, she convinced herself. Nana's greatest fear is repeating her mother's mistake...Don't get her wrong, she respected her mom immensely, she was by far the strongest woman she had ever know. That didn't change the fact that she would like to write some of her wrongs. Nor did it change the feeling which ate her up all the time...She was an accident and that was something that even she couldn't make right. Being the child of a single mother in a Ghanaian society, there was a lot to do and not do. No matter the amount of wealth, the society would always see you as the daughter of the unmarried woman and hence, you are required to put in much effort to everything you do. Kara wanted her mom to know n feel that her birth was her biggest achievement

CHAPTER 13: Black and White...pt3

" Sorry for intruding. I couldn't resist the peace I felt, well I'm still feeling it because my eyes as still enjoying the amazing view ". He apologized in his British accent which was hard to miss. Kara gave a confused smile to the stranger who stood in front of her ogling. She didn't know if ogling was the right word to use but the man was looking at her in a very peaceful way yet still uncomfortable. " Yeah, the sea is a beauty peaceful. It's a...." The man interjected.

" It is, but it's far from the expression you are wearing. That's the peace I'm referring to." Kara smiled feeling overwhelmed. "Errr....okay..." The guy giggle at her awkward reply to something he clearly didn't need a reply to. He stretched out his hands to officially introduce himself. " I am Ray. Raynault Matthew D' Oriel". He added a smile, showing his perfect white teeth. Kara took his hand. " I know who you are. I'm Kara Nana Agyemang". Ray smiled curiously. "Okay, honestly I'm now as curious about how you know me to who you are. You are an African.. right? Kara nodded affirmatively.

" Jamaican?..." He guessed, trying to make a lighter funnier conversation. Kara smiled at his effort. "South African... mmm Nigerian...Come on...help a guy out here." His fake frustrated expression made Kara give a short laugh. Kara smiled or did she blush, the man was an interesting man indeed. " And who would think that the world's second best business man would be that funny and easy going ". She thought. " I am a Ghanaian. I don't know of you know of Ghana but that's my home". Kara finally helped him out. "Ohhhh..Ghana. I have heard of it. But I have never been there, maybe it's time I get to know the people there starting with you Mrs or Miss Kara." He spoke trying to figure out if she was single. Kara smiled and shook her head in disagreement. "Emmm...just Kara will do." She said. Ray smiled widely, still not taking his gaze off her. Kara picked up her slippers.

"It was nice meeting you Mr D'Oriel, but I have to leave". Kara politely spoke. attempting to leave. Raynault nodded. " I would want you to stay for a little more. But I don't want intrude more than I have. So alright, but please call me Ray or Raynault." He requested. "I can't actually. I think that I will stick to Mr D'Oriel . See you around sir". Smiling, she took off, head back to the restaurant. Raynault watched as she entered the place. " Definitely a beauty ". He mumbled to himself. He pulled out his phone from the pocket of his shorts to make a call. " Yeah, I need any information you can find on this person. Kara Narnar Eggyeman. I only have a name....but she's a Ghanaian. Okay. Bye ".

Lucifer laid flat on his bed. As always, he got the best room in the hotel. He had been trying to get the hotel for almost a month and he finally got his hands on it. After all the reluctant behavior from the owner, he finally let got. It's not like he had a choice though. He smirk upon remembering the response from the owner's legal team a year ago when he proposed for the purchase of the hotel. He had never given such a great offer in any deal ever before. But as a business man, he felt that the property deserved his respect and a right bargain ought to be made. However, his offer was thrown back to his face.

" Mr Oralnos, I think we both know that you are wasting your time here. We are not interested in any offer you are making or intend to make. And by we, I mean my client and his partners". The lawyer spoke in his haughty voice. Lucifer was not surprised by the arrogant behaviour of the so called renounced lawyer. He had been listening to him babbler about legal terms, knowing well that it was all boiling down to a turn down to his offer. Seem like the man just wanted to mock Lucifer in anyway he could and Lucifer just sat and listened to his crap. Lucifer looked around the restaurant. The hotel's restaurant was an amazing place with great, efficient services.

"This is a nice place don't you think." Lucifer smiled after giving a foreboding smile. The two gentlemen who were the hotel's legal representatives raised their eye brows. "Yes it is. And I think this meeting is over", one of them replied. " Tell your employer that I understand. I will not make any more offers. I will in make debts, I'm better at doing that. Do your job well, I believe that you are confident that you are the best in your field." Lucifer softly cautioned. The two men frowned at his threat.

"Is that a ...." Lucifer interjected the lawyer from daring to raise his voice on him. "It's a clear threat bigshot lawyer. Your associate can explain to yo what a serious threat is. Gentlemen, I will take my leave now." He got up and left after buttoning his suit. Lucifer smiled to himself on the bed. He enjoyed his victory in silence. "Debts not debt", he said it and he did it. Well. not officially. After a year of creating debts for Mr Anald, he hit the rock button. Business is never about fairness. he also loss money in the process to bring Anald down. He had lost quite a lot in faking investors, projects. This meant keeping his legal advisors happy and Lucifer being Lucifer only had lawyers who could help make his business grow and others not worthy of being a competition.

Implanting people in Analds family to make sure money that money was wasted enough to create debts all meant spending money. Well, as they say, " hard work does pays off" and "patients moves mountains". He thought and smiled to himself. His determination and what someone would say " cruelty" though he sees it as his intelligence just got him 70% shares of the hotel making him the biggest shareholder and owner of the Dynasty Hotel. All he had to do was to wait for the handing over and launching of the resort and the hotel. He would kill two birds with one stone. Who would have thought that he would acquire the hotel he wanted and the beach he tried so hard to bargain on the same day.

He pulled out his ringing phone in annoyance. "Yeah, what's it?" He sat up straight on the bed wearing a frown. He certainly didn't like what he had be told. "Alright, keep an eye on her. And yes, fund out what Raynault is doing over here." He ended the and exhaled heavily. "What the hell is he doing with her? Just what I needed, an interested bastard". He threw his phone on the king size bed, took off his clothes and headed to the well furnished bathroom. Cold water ran down his tanned bronze skin. He ruffled his wet black taking delight in the water splashing on his flawless beautiful face. His long eye lashes got heavy from being wet. He stood still under the downpour.

It was past midnight and Kara still couldn't get a wink of sleep. She woke up and detached the wardrobe until she got her hand on a white hoodie and sweatpants. She needed to get some fresh air, regardless of how late it was, she needed to leave the room. Kara was shocked of the crowd she saw on the beach. " Oh, or not so late" smiling, she mumbled to herself. The place looked as though it was just seven in the evening. People were gathered in groups playing all sought of game and having fun. Couples laid beside each other enjoying a heated make out sessions, others were just taking strolls. Teenagers partied and drunk. The day was still young for them. The restaurant was also still opened and servicing.

She was glad that she was wearing a hoodie, the breeze was no joke. She had chills all over her neck. She untied her ponytail hair to allow the cold air to attack her hair and leave her neck alone. Getting a cold was not something she cold afford at the moment. She reached out for her phone which rang. She wore a wide smile on her face when she saw the caller name. "Hello Maa". Kara spoke in her usual warm voice. She yearned for her mom. All her life, she had never been far from her or him.

Even though she went to Senior High School in Accra, the capital city of Ghana, she didn't go to the boarding school because as code and conducts of the school, she hard to cut down her hair, something her mom and uncls were unwilling for her to do. Aside that, Kara didn't want to spend three years away from her mother. Uncle Kwesi even made sure that his friend, doctor Anan grant him a report of Kara's supposed medical condition to make sure that her hair is untouched. It was a win, win situation. Kara smiled at the memory. She just had to keep her grades high, another easy thing for her. Something she believed she inherited from her parents. Her mother is an brilliant lady but from what she has been told, her father is an exceptional talent.

Her mom's voice drew from her thoughts making her feel guilty for mentally being absent." Nana, I hope I'm not disturbing your sleep". Her mom asked in her usual soft voice. Kara shook her head and smiled. "Seriously daabi. Mentumi nda mpo. Na mep3s3 mefr3 nanso mewr3fi. Sorry." She spoke in her local dialect. (Seriously, no. I'm not even able to catch some sleep. I planned on calling you but it skipped me Sorry). Kara apologized. She could hear laughter from the other side of the line. Was her mom laughing, really she was being mocked? Oh game on, she thought. "Nana Aggyemang, I have had enough of you for the last nineteen years. I am not expecting you to call me every hour or everyday". Her mom spoke amidst her laughter.

" I'm not...? Kara asked, a bit confused. Was her mom not the same woman who was afraid of her coming to study there in the first place? What her mom said cleared her confusion. "Plus, woba fie )kyena yiaaa". (Plus you will be coming home soon". Kara made a disappointed face. " Oh....right..." Kara said in a waning town. She knew that the plan was to get her degree and return back home. but her plans had changed over the years. She didn't want to get a first class in business law and go back home with just a degree. Who in his right sense would leave graduate from Harvard University and go back to Ghana to get some random work or wait on bee mother to pay for her masters not to talk of taking care of her like a kid all over again. She didn't want yo use her mom or uncle's money to support her master in Ghana. If she was being truthful to herself, she knew that she didn't want to leave Harvard for any other school, be it her masters or doctorate no matter the expense.

True, she was reluctant to leave her mom, but with her degree, she could get work out there and make enough money to sponsor herself. It would be great if the scholarships she had applied pulled through, at least then it would be easy to convince her mom to support her decision.

Kara sat in the cold wind, heads bent. Her mom's hurtful tone after she had told her of her plans was still on her mind. Her usual "Hw3 wo ho yie" (Take care of yourself " was a hit, a big blow. It sounded like she was choosing overseas over her mom. She realised that someone had taken a seat beside her. Oh, yeah.... there were no chairs, just sand. She giggled to herself. "What's with the sad atmosphere Miss Narnar". Kara turned to see Raynault D'Oriel beside her, showing off his perfect white teeth again. Kara giggled as she was lost of words. " Just a bad...." her phone rang mincing her words. It was an unknown number. "Sorry. Excuse me". She apologized and picked the call.

" Miss Kara Nana Agyemang, I am not interested in knowing why you are outside, flirting with my business rival, who is supposed to be yours as well. However, I want you to be aware of this. I don't take delight in such unprofessional work ethics. Are we clear on that?" Lucifer furiously cautioned. Kara quickly hop to her feet making Raynault follow suit. It hit Kara, though she hadn't heard from the mega boss before she knew it, she felt it, it was her boss. The boss of her boss Hakeem, THE BOSS. For the first time she was hearing from him and it was to be cautioned. Gosh...she was doomed. She concluded....
