Chapter 18

   Anger coursed through her veins. She ran in front of him. Evidently, her brain was still lacking oxygen from the near accident and so didn't remember that the force of him just walking would tip her off balance since she was lighter than him. She fell on her rear end. 

           He blinked and raised an eyebrow. He stretched his hand and she slapped it away. She stood on her own and shoved her finger deep into his chest. Repeatedly. Deja Vu was a common occurrence with Nova.  

        "I'm a really good guardian, even Chad, the best guardian in the galaxy said I was great. So who the hell do you think you are? Trying to form boss on what doesn't require it", she yelled angrily, forgetting that this guy had the power to kill her in less than a second. 

         To her chagrin, he smirked again and grabbed her unruly hand. He kept her hand beside her and then stared her dead in the eyes. "Chad is the second best guardian in this galaxy. From the bottom. And guess who the best is? ", he said and continued walking away. 

         Ariel was fully incensed now and she smacked his head. He stopped in his tracks. She made a strangled sound when she realized what she just did and who she just did it to. 

.        It wasn't her fault really, he had worked himself into her good books. Yep, despite herself, she considered him a very close friend. Why she felt this comfortable with him was a mystery to her. Normally, she was a very untrusting fellow but with Nova, she let all been guard's down. 

          He turned to her and bent his head to her level. "Do you want to see how my dungeon looks? I'd be pleased to oblige ", he said with an annoyed expression. She blinked. 

          His head was bent at a degree that made him look like a confused kitten. The annoyed expression on his face just screamed ,"PET ME, PET ME". She smiled and little then his question registered in her head. She quickly shook her head. 

          "So what training", she asked again. "Training on how to become Earth's guardian again, as of now, I've demoted you", he said. She scoffed. He looked at her and then brought out a medium sized cube with a color as green as his but his were brighter. "This is your essence, what makes you a guardian ", he said and kept the cube back his his coat pocket. 

             No wonder her powers weren't working. Nova had locked her out. She suddenly felt like punching him. She calmed down and asked. "Why did you want to kill Chad?", she asked. "I didn't want to kill him, if I did, he would be dead", he replied as she tried to keep up with his long legs. 

             Ariel considered this and felt that he wasn't lying, after all, he left Chad when Chad fainted. By the way, she thought Chad fainting was a little cowardly actually. But Chad saved her from Levi so he had to be braver than she thought. 

            "OK then, why were you pummeling him? ", she asked again. "He wanted to hurt you ", he replied patiently. She laughed. "Oh please, Chad would never do that, he saved me from my bastard ex-boyfriend", she said. Nova looked at her expressionlessly and continued walking. 

            "What kind of training are we doing, and why did you lock me away from my crystal, someone can harm it", she said worriedly. "You'll see when we begin, for now you're meant to follow me around and see how I do my guardian business.

              No one can harm Earth's crystal without there being a guardian for it. The only problem is the crystal will get weaker without you but it can't be harmed", he replied patiently. Ariel furrowed her brows. "You're a guardian, no wonder... But why can't the crystal be harmed? ", she asked again. He sighed. 

           "The ground is impossible to open up that deep without a guardian burrowing through it. Plus the crystal has a force field surrounding it, Chad tried to insert Saturn's crystal into yours to destroy earth, but the crystal's force field obstructed him. Which was why we went ahead to grab your hand since the crystal would lower its guard towards its guardian", he said. 

             Okay, Ariel was already getting a really bad impression of Chad. If she put her feelings aside, what Nova said actually corresponded with what her conscience kept saying. Why did Chad roughly grab her hand to the crystal, why was there a knife lodged in Nova's palm when Nova brought his hand behind her neck?  When she thought of all these, tears wanted to form in her eyes. 

               Was something wrong with her, all the guys she ever dated wanted to kill her. Levi didn't really surprise her that much, since she didn't trust him. But she almost fully trusted Chad, and yet he wanted to blow up her planet. She chuckled. 

           Nova rolled his heavenly eyes and turned to her. "Nothing is wrong with you, something's just wrong with your horrible choice in men", he said and kept on walking. She felt incensed again but due to the fact that he comforted her without actually knowing what was wrong with her made her smile a little. 

          She jogged as he walked to keep up with him. When he saw that they weren't making any progress, he grabbed her waist and launched them into the air. Ariel wanted to protest but the feeling of being in the air was too good to complain about. Soon enough they landed, and he withdrew his hand quickly. 

           When she looked up, what she saw almost made her faint. She was currently facing a huge mansion with seven different wings. There was a single white dragon fountain. The dragon looked beautiful, like a celestial being, just like its owner. There were several flowers and different beautiful plants.

            She couldn't leave the spot she was standing in.
