Chapter 17

She was finally ready. This time, she would run away for good. What did Nova mean, saying she was in danger, he himself was the danger. He tried to kill Chad with no reservations at all. She couldn't help but be disappointed at her long time crush.

She had studied the layout of the place and with her extremely perceptive eyes, she should be able to avoid all the cameras that Nova used to see her. She waited for seven whole days, planning her escape. She was sure it was foolproof now.

She kept her TV on and minimized her presence. She got out off the hammock room and plastered herself to the wall when she saw the camera facing her door. She slipped and bent away from it. She avoided 16 cameras. Wow, they didn't trust her one bit.

She saw the door again. She opened it and didn't go out. She waited but Nova still was no where to be found. She was sure she waited for seven minutes and then she stepped outside. She stealthily came down the steps.

For the first time since forever, she felt grass beneath her feet. She didn't wait to cherish it though. She ran as fast as her feet could take her and when she was sure she had gotten far enough, she collapsed. Finally, she was finally free. She just had to burrow through the ground and get to Earth's crystal to get back home.

She hit the ground and hissed in pain. The ground wasn't opening. She hit it again, it didn't open. She began to unravel. Why couldn't she burrow, were her powers as a guardian now dormant. She looked around and saw that there was an open road if she ran farther down. She ran and saw the road. There were Atleast a hundred cars zooming freely on the road. A hundred really really expensive cars.

This seemed to be the richest neighborhood, all the cars were more expensive than hers. And her car was really expensive. She was on a dean doctor's salary so she was really well off. She considered hitching a ride but then thought better of it, these expensive cars wouldn't want to pick up a barefoot girl with over washed clothes. Not that anyone could blame her, she was in a hurry she couldn't possibly take her beautiful sneakers along. Plus, if she didn't want to end up stinking, she had to keep washing her clothes everyday while wearing them every day, so the beautiful jeans looked crazy and her favorite blue shirt was almost white.

Oh if she could get her revenge. She would punish Nova with every ounce of frustration she felt right now. She considered crossing the road to the other side. She waited and when the light was red, she tried to cross. Suddenly, a runaway truck headed straight for her.

Ariel felt her heart at her feet. Out of the frying pan into the fire. There was no way she could run away from the truck that fast, onlookers had already started mourning. She closed her eyes to endure the pain but it didn't come.

Instead, she was trapped under something, sandwiched between the thing and grass. She slowly opened her eyes and was met with cool but angry green ones. "You just had to make me save you, didn't you? ", he drawled out. Ariel felt like hugging him, he just saved her from a high impact straight death collision with a solid truck.

He lifted his body and stood up straight, pulling Ariel with him. 'Deja Vu again', she thought, remembering the first time she saw him. She felt a little ashamed. Her kidnapper had saved her from death, what the heck. What kind of guardian couldn't even protect herself from a small truck. (P. S the truck wasn't actually small at all).

He left in a flash and she peeped to where he went. He stopped directly in front of the car and stopped it. The truck pushed him back a little but he still managed to stop it. The owner of the truck came down with teary eyes, wanting to thank the wonderful savior that prevented his death. But Nova had disappeared from the scene and was quickly back to her.

She lowered her head. What if he got angry at her and killed her instead. Now he would never trust her no matter what she did. "I think you're finally ready to leave your side of the house", he said calmly. She raised her head up in disbelief. Did he just say what she thought he said.

"You're finally ready to start your training", he said with a small smirk. She furrowed her brows. "What training?", she asked. "Guardian training. You are the absolute worst guardian any planet had ever seen. Even Jeminai's guardian's a lot better than you. You let someone who wants to destroy your crystal willingly into the crystal's safe zone. You still need help ", he said and started walking.
