Chapter 13 : Petting Kittens.

I never thought I would say this, at least not after seeing all the memories of this body's previous owner, but Hogwarts was better.

School was extremely tiring, not physically but mentally and emotionally.

I could care less about the glares of boys which consisted of barely one tenth of the class' population but by all things that are evil, the girls are untiring.

The questions which were held off during my introduction were all rained down on me as soon as the teacher left the class.

After the mind numbing time in classes, the school was over for the day.

We decided to meet at the Occult Research Club to discuss the matters relating to the governing the territory.

I and Rias take one end of the room symbolically showing our standing regarding the discussions about to take place. Sona is smart enough to take the hint here.

"What is it that you wished to discuss Shin-san?" Sona asks pushing up her glasses an action I mimic just to get a reaction out of her.

"I would like to discuss about the security of the territory, the surveillance of the territory and the procedure followed if we encounter an emergency."

"I and Rias govern this territory with me taking command of the activities during the mornings and Rias at the night. We take the jobs to hunt stray devils in the area as instructed by the higher ups and can have prior discussions if there are any changes in the schedule." She replies with a slight blush at my mimicked action.

I understand why Serafall likes teasing her so much. Her reactions are absolutely adorable.

"What I mean is, I would like to set up a surveillance network around the town to pick up magic activations above a certain level, exceptions will be the magical signatures of the one I pin inside the network. It will also work on sacred gear activations and certain points of video surveillance at key locations around the town. I will make this network at my home and the wards will allow only the members of our three peerages inside the monitoring room. Meredith here will take care of the wards. She is a genius when it comes to barrier and security magic." I say pointing at Meredith who ….well tries to be stoic but the blush in her face ruins it for her.

"That will certainly make our jobs easier to protect the territory. I do understand the reasons for your steps as well." she says while in thought, measuring all her options. Obviously I won't give her access to all the points and Sona is smart enough to know that and even smarter not to question it. I could have asked Rias and we could have done this even without her permission as Rias alone had this much right from the very beginning. What she is getting now is already that much more than she could have expected.

"On a different note, Shin-san, I would like to ask what other artifacts you are planning to sell. If possible I would like to order a few of them for my peerage if possible. My queen was quite taken with the Ten Commandments Demonic Spear." Sona says eyeing Tsubaki who blushes slightly even on her ever stoic façade. She looks cute though.

"Then please allow me to present you with this spear." I say taking out the Ten Commandment Spear I had made in my spare time. It was honestly the most simple one of the current artifacts I had in my possession as long as I had materials, just within my mana range to make it comfortably. Giving them this spear will act as a sign of goodwill and a cookie point to me from Serafall.

"This is for allowing me to have a place in this territory along with you and Rias. I know it is a bit crowded but I will try to keep everything as simple as possible from my side." I smile at her.

"I cannot accept such a costly gift. Allow me to pay for it. Please give me the price, the Stiri House will pay for it." Sona says a bit serious.

"Consider this as a sign of my goodwill. I know giving gifts and exchanging valuables is a tradition among devils to form good relations. It is the same in many places in the human world. This is a sign of my friendship to you."

I did make myself clear, leaving no room for doubt. I want their friendship and if she rejects then it will look like she doesn't want the same, an insult to me. To be honest, it kinda puts her on the spot but I am not really a pure gentleman not to use such simple maneuvers to my advantage. I can see her thinking the matters through and then deciding her options.

"In that case, allow me to accept the gift and offer my friendship as the Heiress of Stiri House in return." She says accepting the spear and passing it over to Tsubaki, who stores it…..somewhere.

"Now that the formal matters are out of the way, how was your first day at school Shin-san?" Sona asks with a hint of mirth in her voice.

"The school is nice and all, I definitely don't have any complaints regarding the school itself. It's just the reception is…. rather enthusiastic. For a moment I had considered facing the thousand year old basilisk in my previous school was easier than the students here. They were out for blood." "That was the second year. Every year had a different story. Never mind, we are getting a bit off topic here. I'd rather forget that place if possible." It was an honest statement. "Tell me about your requirements of the artifacts. What are the preferences of your peerage members? What kind of fighting style they possess or what role you would like them to play? I would normally not prefer taking orders for custom made artifacts so soon but I can make an exception for friends." I say.

After thinking for a while, she speaks up "In that case, I would like a sword type artifact for my knight, and surveillance type or range attack type artifacts for my bishops and a defense type artifact for my rook."

Pretty basic if you ask me. I can make a fucking Sword Birth or it is holy counterpart after scanning Kiba's scared gear. It is an epic grade artifact.

Surveillance type could be the Gaea foundation which is extremely useful for infiltration or I can think of something different. Ranged attack type could easily be a magic gun or similar artifact with elemental magic, the easiest in my opinion among the list. The defense type artifact is a bit confusing actually which is actually surprising.

"I have a decent idea about what I can do about your other requests except the defense type artifact. It is the one which I am honestly confused about. What kind of defense are we talking about? Magic powered defense or physically. I can make both but I need to know what kind of fighting style your rook prefers so that I don't mess up."

"A physical type. Tsubasa is more into physical fighting aspect rather than magical. Can you tell me about the ideas regarding my other requests?" she asks a bit intrigued.

"I can make a variant of Sword Birth for your knight or if she prefers a simple sword though I am not much of a blacksmith. In that cause I will get a decent sword and imbue it with elemental effect. Depending on the source I am using for the enchanting purpose or simply termed as core, it can turn out to be pretty strong. Same for the range attack type artifacts. I could always make a boy or gun with elemental attacks. Core will determine its strength. Surveillance type sacred gears will be the Gaea foundation."

"You can make a Sword Birth? What variant are we talking about here and what cores can I choose from?" she asks. Sona is really through in these matters. Rias, at least before she met me wouldn't have reacted so thoroughly.

"Variant like in terms of the weapon produced. It can be a sword or a spear or simply knives as I am planning to make for Sakuya." I say looking at Sakuya who gives me a slight smile and a nod. "If I get a decent enough core, I could make a Blade Blacksmith instead of a Sword Birth but getting such a core will require making a deal with Heaven in most of the cases, so that is out of question for me. If I could get a hand on a strong enough Holy Sword, I could always use it as a core. Any holy sword can be used and not necessarily the Christianity's versions of it."

I did sense the fall in temperature at the mention of Holy Swords. Kiba is….the fuck glaring at me? He fucking dares. I could tear him into pieces and feed him to Ciel any time I wanted. It's just that it will make Rias sad and he has his uses. He is a well-trained knight. Strong but not irreplaceable. Maybe I should arrange an accident again.

"Any of those things will be hard to get. The church will go up in arms if they lose a holy sword. I will ask my family and see if we can get any suitable cores to go along with it." She replies, not really complaining to Kiba's release of KI.

"In that case, let's get along Sona. I will have to take my leave for today. We are still settling in after all. Some stuff needs to be taken care of." I give a look at Rias who nods at me in return.

"Then we will leave you to your work." I like this about Sona quite a lot. She is good at taking cues.

After they leave the clubroom, I address the matter at hand.

"Will you tell me what your problem is Yuto?"

"Holy Swords?" he growled out. It seems like the saying anger takes away one's intelligence is true after all. This idiot is answering me like a caveman.

"I think I will need more explanation than those two words." I will rub it in his face if I have to.

"They took away all my friends. It is my life's aim to destroy all holy swords and their wielders." He answers through gritted teeth.

What the actual fuck?

I thought he had problems with the Excalibur only and to some extent some other holy swords? What the fuck is with this extension of grudge.

And you want to kill someone else who is completely unrelated to this whole mess because they were 'unfortunate enough to be 'born' with the power to use holy swords. Both of you are killing innocent people over something they had no control over and you want to deny that you are different from them."

I ask him as he starts to finally think of the situation.

I was not going to have mercy on him. Rias showed him mercy all this time and see where it led her.

"Let me tell you what will happen. The church people will declare you as the public enemy of the church and the Heaven faction. They will send their best exorcists after you. Obviously not to congratulate you. What do you think will happen then? You are barely at the level of a Mid-class devil and their top exorcists are people who can fight a Satan on an equal footing. You won't stand a chance. I know Rias, Akeno and Koneko well enough to know that she will not declare you Stray to save her own hide, nor will she abandon you to die. She is far too kind for that. What do you think will happen to them? They will lose respect in the underworld at the very least. With Rias being Sirzechs' sister they hopefully will not try to kill her but we never know with the Zealots. What about Akeno and Koneko? Well they will obviously be killed. Sirzechs will HAVE to declare you Stray even if he didn't want to. Just to prevent a potential Great War all over again."

His eyes have lost much of their anger by this time and now are filled with despair. Not enough yet. A bit more.

"You know the funniest part after all this?" I ask while smiling at him. A mocking smile to show him the worthlessness of the situation. "They will just remake the swords again."

And then the real despair settles in.

He falls to his knees.

Koneko and Akeno want to get to him while Rias looks at me pleadingly.

I can see him thinking thing a bit now. I don't expect him to become all gung-ho about my views overnight. But at the very least it will stick in his head.

"What was the name of this experiment by the way? Maybe I can find out who were the ones involved."

"The Holy Sword Project." He answers in a much lower tone.

"Very well I will keep that in mind. If I find any information regarding it, I will inform you without fail. For now, all I can help you with is increasing your strength. I will be helping you and everyone else train and reach eight winged devil stage in the near future. At least that is the target I have set for everyone here." I say seeing his eyes widening at my words.

I could see their doubts but in the end a look at Rias and they agreed with a simple nod.

"Very well then, Meredith will you take care of the warding of our home and the school first. I will take them in for a round by then." I say getting a nod from Meredith who just smiles at Rias' peerage.

Thanks Game. Undead was getting a bit repetitive.

Though I would like to start them off with undead because I am more familiar with it and then move on to Angels.

The room around us disappears as we are teleported in the same undead realm that my peerage has become quite familiar with.

"It must considering we are in one of the realms of death under the control of Death herself. She is my patron and I can use these realms for trails to gain strength. Inside this place, you grow stronger with each enemy you kill. If you fail, you will be forgotten. That is the price to pay for entering this trails." I spew the usual bullshit.

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's start killing", I say while firing off a bullet of the PoD at the nearest position where my Eye of Darkness has seen a zombie walking over. "Today we will be hunting liches to celebrate your first day here."

I can see the stunned looks on Rias and her peerage's faces but they snap out of it a little. They still look a bit shaken at the sight of a zombie and undead. My bullshit did work on them. I guess I will let it be for now.

We need to level up.

- Scene Change –

Sweating and completely covered in dirt, the members of Rias' peerage look like they have been through the wringer in more than one ways. I had no idea they were afraid of zombies. Gasper was trained by Sakuya at her leisure and I was even surprised that she was teaching him how to create knives made of magic.

Kiba seemed a bit distracted at first but got into fighting off the mobs after a few level ups. I even gained a bunch of Affection and Reputation raises from everyone who trained here by +5 points each.

I on the other hand paid a visit to the inner areas a bit removed from where the group was training. The leveling speed has slowed down considerably in the higher levels for my Umbramancer. I wonder how long it will take to level up to level 100. All I got after 4 hours of blasting around was 2 mere levels. I am now a level 77 Umbramancer.

The only plus side to training many people for me are the…..drop items.

Even if the rates are lower for the other people, it is still better than nothing.

I got item drops which will go to the newbies to help them pick the pace for the next time. The only things that I got were the 2 Gacha Tickets.

I think I will keep them all bundled up for now. I have enough skills and I still need to recruit Ingvild first. No need to stick my fingers in too many pies at once only to mess it all up and end up with nothing.

"When you said that we need to get to Eight Winged Devil level and your training will help us achieve it, I never imagined it to be like…..this." Rias speaks, I think for everyone in her peerage.

"Oh come on, it was easier for you people. You barely fought a boss in that fight. Mini bosses at best. I had already taken care of the bosses before you reached there." Which is actually true. I have a Master level upgrade quest for my FGS magic going on and I need to kill 100 elite and 2 champion-level, opponents. The boss was an elite. I needed that kill.

"Although, I can understand the reason why you would want this to be kept as a secret. There is no doubt in my mind that the entire underworld or the entire supernatural world will be after you if they find out about this ability."

I nod at her reason. "Well we just need to keep this up everyday and in a few months, you all we be eight winged devils prepared for most challenges. For now though I think we all should cool off and get cleaned."

All in all, today was a really productive day. Their progress will slow down as they level up more but that is something that is normal. Riser Cockroach, hehehe…. that name was so apt, was not liked by many people. It was awesome to watch the Rating Game where a snobby 'Pure-Blooded' Devil got his ass handed over to him.

The said boy was quite mysterious. There are already major waves regarding his name in the Khaos Brigade. Plans to get him in one of their factions or completely eliminate him.

She was not among those members though. Vali had said that he didn't want to kill anyone among his peerage as he will help his rival to grow stronger.

Ley Fay didn't want to fight her friend and she too didn't have any opinions regarding them. That was at least today.

What did that Red Dragon Empress bitch mean by Onee-chan. Shirone had only one Onee-chan and that was her. Although she was grateful to her to help her sister get out of her shell, no one takes her place. That bit of jealousy was biting her at the back of her mind. They were in their club room talking with the Stiri Girl after which the closet emo Knight snapped. He was taken care of pretty quickly and the Touki she felt from Mysterious Boy, Shin was absolutely stunning. The mastery was above average. Not something to write home about still considering that he is a magical type, it was quite an achievement.

The surprising part was the purity of the Touki. She had seen that kind of purity only in the sages that she had the chance of meeting a few times. Sun Wukong had that kind of Touki in terms of purity.

To be honest the way he took down the Knight kind of made her wet down in her nether regions.

Youkai wanted strong mates and Shin was plenty strong. Those bracelets may hide his demonic power from other people but she was an expert Senjutsu user and she could see right through those barriers.

He is a giant in terms of Demonic power. His demonic power was twice that of Vali and Vali was a Lucifer. Just what kind of monster was Shin Kageyami?

Moreover his magic is very unique. Others have a set aura which gives Senjutsu users an idea about their magic, but Shin's aura is extremely flexible.

It was completely unheard of someone of his power level to have an aura like that. People of his power level already have a set type of fighting and so their auras are more….fixed in their ways of fighting. An aura that can adapt to anything, that was completely unheard of.

What it meant was that he was still growing. He hasn't even reached a point where he had to leave other fields to specialize in one specific field of magic or style. But that couldn't possibly be true. Because he was far more versed in touki or his magic to not have a set path already.

Arghhh, so annoying. Too many thoughts makes the kitty want to find out everything about him.

As she was thinking all these, she suddenly felt the presence of someone right behind her.

How? She didn't sense anyone teleporting. No magic circles. Speed was out of question? Did the maid find her and stop time?

Calm down. Normal cats do not panic.

Like fuck they don't. She felt all the hair on her back rise up as she turned back but before she could do anything, she was scooped up in the arms of the one behind her.

"So cute. Did you get lost cutiepie?" she heard a very familiar voice. She had heard this voice many times earlier today.

The hands petting her were strong but it felt soooo good. Mmnnn. Wake up Kuroka, he is the enemy.

"Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat? Here try some of these, Sakuya is a really amazing cook." He says as suddenly a plate of snacks appears in front of her, delicious looking sweets were all pilled on the plate. But instead of feeling happy about it, Kuroko felt the biggest chill of the day yet.

She couldn't sense it at all. So couldn't sense any hint of magic power when the plate appeared, no disturbance in his energy reserves to even give an indication that he was preparing a spell. Absolutely nothing.

Till now she knew of only one person…..no being who could do something like that. No one else, no matter how strong she had met before could do…..this.

And this man, carrying her was not Ophis. So what exactly was he?

Just what kind of mess did her curiosity get her trapped her in this time? Really the saying 'Curiosity killed the cat' had some basic behind it after all.

"So, would you tell me why you are here, Kuroka." She falls completely still at her name being called. "I have some ideas but will love it if you help me confirm my thoughts." I sensed her muscles tensed and touki starting to brew around her but before she could do anything, a single shadow stitching spell puts a halt to her thoughts.

"Don't get too tensed. I told you I don't intend to harm you, that however will change if you try to harm me in return. Oh and on a second thought, the poison that you have been releasing in the air is too weak to act on me. I have the poison of a thousand year old basilisk running through my veins. This level of poison doesn't work on me. So can we finally put always the usual enemy to enemy charade and talk for a while. I even gave you my share of snacks, the least you could do is have a proper conversation."

It seemed that my words finally had an effect. She started to change and he form began shifting as she grew in my hands. In a few seconds what was once a cat with beautiful midnight black coat of fur, now sat a beautiful girl in black kimono which was dangerously threatening to fall off from her shoulders. She had beautiful silky black hair which was framing her exotic face and a stunning pair of golden eyes. The biggest eye catcher however was the pair of cute black ears on top of her head and a pair of black tails swishing on my thighs right above her buttocks which was….grinding against my crotch.

And I thought seven rounds of sex would have calmed me down.

That case was too much of an anomaly to be considered clean. Killing the whole race when one of then who was not even completely of that race anymore killed a single high class devil is tooooo fishy. It's not like it was the first time some stray devil had killed a high class devil who was also their master. Too many inconsistencies. It almost seemed like they were trying to remove evidences. Naturally, people will believe what the government feeds them. It is the same in every place." I continue spewing my arguments one after another while petting her ears. They are really soft.

"I can live with that. Well then Good Night." I say getting up and removing the plate from the front of her face back in my inventory. Inventory will keep her busy for a while thinking about it. Normally senjutsu users can sense activation of magic or any shift in space. But any skill from the system that uses the power of the system instead of my MP is Perfect. There are no flaws, no disturbances in space, anything. This will make her misinterpret my actual power level and make my offer that much more enticing. Is it cheating? Sure is. Do I care? Fuck No. I am a Gamer and…. Gamers cheat.

"Also next time I will charge you for the show." I finish with a smile as I use shadow walk and blink back to my terrace.

I observes Kuroka from the eyes of my Shadow Servants. She keeps staring at my room's window for a while with a complex expression on her face before she turns into her cat form and disappears in a magic circle.

Collecting Peerage members has been on halt for a while. I have to complete leveling my Umbramancer class before getting to Alchemist. Waking up Ingvild will take a while. Maybe I should get her here first. She is currently under the protection of the old Leviathan Loyalists. If I want her in my peerage, I need to get them to allow Ingvild to leave the place. Maybe I should kidna….uughh relocate her in my house while she is still asleep. As for the loyalists, they can either agree or well keep searching for Ingvild till she is loyal to me.

I wonder who I should recruit next. I would have preferred having Vali in my peerage but he is too proud for that. I don't want the dragon battle galore in my peerage either. Valerie and Rossweisse are currently out of my reach.

Asia maybe. Then it again raises a question. I am here early. The idiot is already dead. Would they even bring Asia here? Has she even been excommunicated from the church yet? Will Diodora get to her first or will the Fallen find her again? Her sacred gear is so-so at best but the real catch is her Dragon Tamer abilities. I can't let her go to anyone else.

Fuck, this changes the plans a lot.

Now I have to find Asia and monitor her for further movements. What do I do if Diodora attacks? Kill him and disintegrate his body completely. Just make sure that I don't get caught. I could care less about all the chaos it will cause in the underworld. Honestly if they don't want their children to die, they should keep them in check.

As I was thinking about these things, I felt the presence of an extra shadow behind me. To be completely honest, I didn't sense anything at all. No magic, no lifeforce, no strange shifts in space, nothing at all.

Turning back, I saw a little girl, in purple gothic Lolita dress looking at me with emotionless greyish black eyes. Her black hair flowing in the wind slightly revealing the pointed ears behind her hair.

Instinctively, I used observe and felt my blood freeze at the confirmation of my fears.

Hope you liked the new chapter.

I was planning to bring Ophis in this chapter as well as complete her conversations but, I thought (Evil Me: Let them fade the cliff). Not that. I thought that I wouldn't be able to complete what I want with this scene with the number of words I have left.

As you can guess, things will start gaining speed once more. I am planning push the Kokabiel arc to a bit later. Shin will take care of a few things before that.

But I will be moving to the wizarding world soon enough.

I will not be focusing completely on the wizarding world and leave dxd alone. No worries about that. That place is basically for Shin to establish a foothold in a place where none of the other supernatural factions contend with him.

Kuroka was a sudden addition but I got a great idea and thought that it will help me if I introduce her early on.

Kiba got a toning down. He is not completely over his grudge. To be honest the protagonist's talk no jutsu is completely BS.

Shin doesn't have that. HE will do things in his own way. By beating the crazy out of the ones he wants to.
