frist mission success

When I wake up I check outside frist, the snow had started back up, also the sun wasn't even up yet. When I get everything on, to go on the hunt, I spot General White, outside already waiting for me.

"Well looks like your up early, already off for the hunt?" I nod in agreement with what he says, "General White, I heard some of the conversation yesterday night, so I have to get him no matter what don't I?"

The way he just smiles says yes, "I'm sorry Daniel, I talked with your grandfather, and yes if you fail I can't have you join, but I do believe in you, also I think your grandfather does too." The idea of my grandfather also silently believing in me is a nice one, I just don't think he wants to see me go in any kind of fashion.

"Thanks White, just tell my grandfather that I shall be out of the house for some time, since I've prepared for a multiple day hunt." The face he gives is one of confusion, that was until he saw the bag my back. "understood, however Don't push yourself past your limit." After I give him a swift nod, I start walking into the forest where I planed to make it my place of stay for the next three days.

The time will hopefully fly but I can't promise myself, but hopefully before the time is up I will have gotten my prize I aim for. The only problem, is that if the temperature drops to low I'm gonna have to return back to the house, since the only things I brought with me was a heavy fur sleeping bag, along with a few quick tools to start a small fire. The good news is that hunting wasn't going to be too hard, at least I hope it won't be, but I am determined to show Mr White and my grandfather what I can do.

"three day skip"

Once I look back at what I had told myself three days ago, that it was going to be easy, that staying out in the blistering cold was going to be easy, I clearly was lying to myself. The past three days had been nothing short of brutal, "well I guess I know how it feels to have to survive in the coldest elements."

Day one was nice enough not to snow to much, along with it being reasonable on the cold factor, ment I could hunt the whole day. The amount of times I caught glimpses of some tracks I would follow, just to end up not seeing the wolf I was aiming for.

The second day was painful, the cold intensified down to the point I thought about packing it up, but I decide to hunker down in one location, back at the top of that very frist hill where I say him the first time. The only thing I caught was snow in my face for the whole time I was there, but something told me not to move spots, to sit there and let the snow form around me, so I did.

This day so far has consisted of me sitting still under a small blanket of snow, wearing all the cloths I can to stay warm. The hunger I feel is starting to hurt, I'm dead tired, on top of it my body is cold from the sweat freezing to my skin. "maybe this was a bad idea, I don't even know if this is worth it anymore."

The sun is at mid day, with the wind hitting me in the face I'm feeling the bite of what nature has to throw at me. When I felt like packing it up, I get I look out in the feild, it's him, the wolf I was hunting, and now that the wind is coming my way, he's unaware of me being here. The stage is set, he's carrying a rabbit just like last time, I guess even some days can repeat themselves, however this time I'm the one walking away victorious.

The wind blow's softly against me, with it the cold forms around me, I lay still and sillent waiting for the opertunity to take the shot. The one down range is unaware, as he feeds on his meal that is infront of him.

My breathing is controlled, along with my scope pointed at his vital part, his heart. After my brain goes completely blank, a few seconds later there is no sound, except for the sound of my rifle going off, as I see the white Wolf I had been hunting for the past three days fall to the ground no longer moving.

When I get up I'm greeted with a smile and claps of approval, "that was impressive sir Daniel, I have to say I am surprised at the level of skill you just demonstrated, now it would be wonderful if your grandfather would allow us to-," my grandfather began to walk this way over in a small rage.

"That will not happen, I refuse, I shall not and will not give up my last family member to your army, no matter what, is that clear!" my grandfather's face is searing with anger, but I work up my strength and will power and tell him straight up.

"Grandfather I know you care for me, I know this, but please im no longer that scared twelve year old kid that fell into your arms when mom died, I may be the last member of this family that still sees you, but I wish to protect this empire I grew up in at all cost."

With everything I said out, and in the open now, I see grandfather become saddend from what he heard me say.

Then he salutes me, " I now recognize my grandson, Mr Daniel, as capable and worth of being both a young man, able to make his own decisions, and able to freely choose to do as he pleases." When he finishes up he was weeping, the last time he wept like this was for my mother's funeral five years ago.

Without hesitation I turn to the general giving him a salute, "General White Gilmore, I Daniel will and shall accompany you as a new recuit, to fight against the on coming presence of war, do you have any objections sir!"

when I finish my little speech he smiles a bit, then salutes back, " this is General White I officially recognize your enlistment, into the Empires fight against the impending war to come, and I officially recognize your skills, you shall be part of the white ghost snipers team, now prove yourself worthy of that position, sir Daniel."

After our discussion is over I see Mr White walk back in the direction of the house, but my grandfather put his hands on me, "well since your going to remain stubborn, all I have to say is good luck, and please, please come home in one peace." After saying that he hugs me, I'm still freezing cold but his heat warms me, I know he's beyond sad, and if I was in his position I probably would be too.

When I look back towards where I had shot The wolf I see two small white things, as they move about out there I can't quite tell what they are, so using my scope I decide to get a clearer image as to what I'm seeing. when I look out there, what I see shakes some, since if I had known, I wouldn't have shot.

"Hey grandfather, I have a mission for you, while I'm away look after the little ones, make sure they become strong." The expression on my grandfather's face is that of confusion, but once I point him to the scope, where he takes a look he fully understand what saying. "The one I have to worry about more is you, I can look after them from affare, they will take care off themselves more now at the age they are at." Those words were a relief, so with those words I packed myself up for home.

Back at home General White was waiting for me, "I believe it's time to head out, take anything with you that you feel is absolutely necessary." When I think long about it, nothing really comes to mind, however, my grandfather rushes into the house to grab something for me. "Daniel, here take this you will need it more then me where your going." When my grandfather hands it over its an old badge with a white rifle, along with a black figure holding the rifle.

"This badge was worn by elites, back when I had done my service, this team was referred as snow ghost's, now I believe it is time that you should wear it." As he straps it onto my jacket I can feel the emotions build up, in the end I can hold them, as I hug him I cry some knowing that fully well, from here on anything can happen.

As I jump into General White's car with him, I look back to see my grandfather standing there, waving me goodbye, "so anything you need to take care of Daniel?" I quickly think, as a matter of fact there was something, "yes General White, I need to head to work real quick, there's someone I must say goodbye too."

As we drive towards town, The last image in my head keeps playing, I feel guilty for having pulled the trigger now. "what's the matter Daniel you look down?" Yeah I am slightly down but I decide to tell him, "it was just the last thing I saw when I looked back through the scope, nothing much General." He looks at me but doesn't question any further. The image will probably stay with me for a long time, those two pups standing over there parent, nudging him to see if their father will move.
