Battle Cry

Fryatt was sitting in a corner in the dressing room, with his shoulders slumped. Manager Kelly was going through the tactics, but no one was paying attention. After that brutal first half, eveyone was exhausted physically and mentally, the tactics were the last thing on their mind right now.

Everything had been going well until the last five minutes. Even though it was brutal and fouls were happening all over the pitch, the game was even before Maybury was carried off the pitch. But the last five minutes drained them of eveything they had. The only silver lining was that they were tied at the half time.

Fryatt joined Leicester City last season during the winter transfer window. After scoring six goals and helping them in avoiding relegation, he was tipped to be a key player in this season by media and fans alike. But injuries to his ankle and foot derailed his seaon, and even after playing in 27 games he had found the back of the net just three times.

'Man, this isn't good, I have to score or my position as a starter may be jeopardised', Fryatt brooded when Rob Kelly called him.

"Hey, Matt, where is your head?", the manager called him out.

"I'm listening boss." Fryatt replied as he paid attention to what was being said.

"So, in the second half, when we have the ball, I want you to drop deeper and combine with Joe who will be making runs down the left flank. And when we lose the ball I want you to try and win it back high up the pitch. Do you get it?" Rob Kelly said as he worked his brains on how to win this game. Fryatt just nodded his head.

Fryatt slumped back on his chair. Even though he wanted to score goals, but if it can help the team get a win, he was ready to do whatever was asked of him.

"C'mon lads, we can win this game and at the end of the season, there's a bonus waiting for you if you avoid relegation." Manager Kelly said in an attempt to rile up the players.

'He's not very good at the motivation thing.' Fryatt thought. He was one of the supporters of Rob Kelly. He even pleaded the board of directors for Rob Kelly to remain the Foxes Manager last season.

Fryatt stood up as the team started to get ready to go back on the pitch. As he went out of the changing room, he saw a man was standing just outside the locker room. He felt that the man was familiar but he couldn't put a finger on it.

"Hey, isn't that the new President?" the team captain Patrick Kisnorbo spoke up while Fryatt was trying to identify him.

'Huh, that would be a first, what is he doing here?' Fryatt thought as the whole team wondered about it.

"Hello, I am the new president of the club, John Baker. I would like to know you guys better but this is hardly the time for introductions." the President and the owner of the club spoke as the manager came out of the locker room.

"Mr. Baker, what are you doing here?" Manager Kelly asked him curiously.

"I will just take a moment, Rob." the chairman in his blue suit said confidently.

"Now, I am not here to tell you guys how to play, I am sure you know better than me about it. I am just an ordinary fan. I am just here to say one thing..." he continued as his voice grew louder, "Fight", the chairman almost yelled.

"Fight them with everything you got. If they kick you once, kick them twice, hit them until they don't want to play. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, but by the time the game ends, they should be terrified of you guys. Fight them so that they think twice before even touching you guys." the chairman roared in front of the team.

Fryatt suddenly felt his blood rushing to his brain as he shouted, "Fight."

He looked around to see that everyone, including the chairman was staring at him. But before he could feel embarassed he heard the the captain let out what almost seemed a battle cry, "Fight"

Then the whole team erupted with emotions, "FIGHT"

The team then lined up to go on the pitch, but there was a stark difference in the mood of every player. They had a determined expression on their faces and even though nobody said anything, the whole team felt compelled to give everything on the pitch.

'I will definitely score in the second half.' Fryatt said to himself, dead set on getting a win.
