Little Sis

Arya's face was still pale when she got out of the car. She stood at the same spot for a long time and when she walked, her legs felt weak. Her mind was blank. 'What did I get myself into?' she asked herself inwardly.

Once more, she tried to call Kay, but the phone was still off, so she just left him a message that he must call her back urgently as soon as he saw the message.

She heard a man's voice, "Miss, are you alright? Do you need help?" Arya shook her head absentmindedly. When she got inside the hospital, she firstly sat on a waiting chair to compose herself.

She inhaled and exhaled deeply.

After sitting for about five minutes, she stood up and walked to her little sister's room. She did not go inside immediately and just watched through the door window how her mom was feeding Reese.

Tears fell down from her eyes when she saw how lively her little sister was. She was back to being a talkative kid who always asked too many questions.

She was so happy to see her little sister full of energy again. Last time when she saw Reese, she was weak and in pain.

Right now, when she saw her sister in such a good condition, all the worries in her heart had been gone. She felt relieved, as a huge burden was lifted off her shoulders.

Suddenly, Reese's gaze went to the door and her eyes widened in excitement as soon as she saw her. "Big Sissss!!!!" She heard the little girl shout as she opened her small little arms for Arya to hug her.

She quickly wiped off her tears and went inside the room. She smiled, ran towards her little sister, and quickly hugged her.

"Bis Sis, I missed you so much. Mom said you went to a very nice place and will buy me a present as soon as you return. Can I have it now? I've been a very good girl, you can ask Mom. Right, Mom?" Reese asked smiling when Arya released her from the hug.

Arya pinched her little sister's nose and said, "Big Sis is so happy to see that you are doing great, and you have also behaved well. Our little princess is so strong. Here is your present."

It was My Little Pony's collection, Reese's favorite. "Wow, there's so many. Oh, Twilight Sparkle, my favorite! Thank you so much, Big Sis. I love it." Reese said smiling as she kissed and hugged her Big Sister.

Arya's mom was just watching them and said, "Okay darling, give me that first. You haven't finished your food yet. You can check everything later, okay?"

Reese pouted her lips and looked at Arya, then said, "I want Big Sis to feed me." Arya laughed and took the bowl from her mom.

She had practically raised Reese and she was considered the second mom. When Reese was a baby, she was on the night duty-her mother's assistant, from feeding her with a bottle, changing diapers, and cradling her into her arms at night, including the singing lullabies which help Reese to sleep.

She always hoped for a sister as being an only child was too lonely. When they thought that there's no more hope, because her mom was getting old, the unexpected news of her mom getting pregnant made her rejoice.

She loved her sister so much. Reese was an answer to her consistent prayers, a blessing from above.

However, because her mom had lots of complications Reese was born weak.

"Big Sis, why are you so pretty?" Reese suddenly asked while Arya was feeding her. Arya laughed and answered, "Because Mom is pretty."

"I want to grow like you and become pretty like you too." Her little sister continued.

Arya gave her a nose to nose kiss and said, "Of course you are pretty too, we came from the same Mom so we are both pretty. I bet once you grow up, you will be prettier than me."

Then the nurse entered as it was time for Reese to take her medicines. Reese's face crumpled and Arya laughed because her little sister didn't like medicines. They were both alike.

Her mom commented, "If you want to stay in the hospital so much, then fine, don't take your medicines. It's up to you."

Reese pouted her lips once more because she was still complaining inwardly. However, she already wanted to go back home, so even though she hated it, she still took the medicines.

Arya cheered for her and clapped her hands when Reese finally had all her medicines. "Wow, my Little Sis is truly amazing."

When Reese dozed off, her mom said, "Leave now and have a rest first. I am sure you are exhausted after your trip."

Arya refused because she wanted to sleep in the hospital, but her mom insisted on sending her away.

In the end, she took a cab and went to her apartment.
