Chapter 20
Demitria Frostine
"Focus... Focus Demi," I told myself.
I was in the training field alone while the other students were in their classes. I was training myself on summoning weapons in a blink of an eye.
I know that if I keep on the slow pace, I will lose. My opponents are all fast and almost good at what they do, I have to keep track of them.
The headmaster told me that I have to be at least on the top five and got an average of 7/10 or up to impress the council. I have to trust his words, he was helping me because he knew what I can do and he has seen me before.
"How's your training?" I heard a man's voice behind me while I was preparing my equipment. I am now done with summoning training and I will sharpen my vision as well as my senses.
"It's all good," I answered Liro who was again, leaning in the wall while his hands were on his pockets. He was wearing his training uniform; a green shirt with black long sleeves and comfy shorts.
He chuckled and continued getting weapons on the table. I decided to just rest for a while since Liro will be training. I sat at the table where I can still see him and the targets.
There was a small barrier between our place and the field where the targets are located. He prepared himself behind the barrier and aim the dagger in front of him.
Suddenly I felt the ground shaking and it feels like rocks were rolling under the ground. For a second, I thought it was an earthquake which rarely happens in our kingdom.
"What's that?" I asked.
Lori looked at me with his daring smirk forming on his face. He looked back to the target and closed his eyes.
It was Liro and his rock element. A Tower of rocks suddenly emerge from the ground and held Liro's feet and went up high. Another tower of rocks emerge and he transferred from one tower to another tower.
He used those rocks as his transportation.
"That's cool, I wish I could do that with mine," I said murmuring.
Liro's eyes were shut all the way and I got startled when the tower suddenly pushed him upwards making him float in the air. His hands were intertwined in his chest and a crystal-like dagger appears in an instance and hit all the targets on the field, including those who were hidden.
I remembered the button he pushed before when I was training alone so I went to check it and saw different colored buttons. Blue for the beginner level, Yellow for the intermediate, yellow for amateur, and red for pro.
I don't exactly understand what these colors mean anyway so I'll just have to pick the red which I don't know why except for the fact that it looks the most dangerous.
"Oh sh*t!" I think I made the wrong choice. My heart starts beating when I heard a loud thud.
When I pushed the red button the field was suddenly covered by a translucent barrier. Human-like figures were slowly forming inside the field. Liro was already on the ground and was shook to see figures inside the field around him.
"Demitria, What did you do?" Panic can be observed in his voice as he was screaming in disbelief.
"I'm sorry, I was just trying to help you train," I shouted back.
There was no turn off button so I guess he just has to defeat all of them so he can get out.
It was chaotic inside the covered field. Cloud of sand smoke was so visible inside and I cannot almost see Liro while trying to defeat those human-like figures.
"Oh, they also have elemental powers," I said as I was still watching Liro battling with them. It was like an endless battle, we didn't know when it is going to stop.
"You'll pay for this, Demitria!" He screamed in between those cool attacks. I laughed as an answer which is not a good response for him.
"Ahh!" I heard him screamed and suddenly rocks starting to float inside that field. Crystals were shining as it surrounds the whole field.
There were no noises that can be heard in the field aside from the growling rocks under us. The translucent barrier already disappeared except for the sand smoke that was surrounding us.
"Liro?" I called his name when I entered the field. I received no response.
I got scared for a second and guilt almost ate me but I saw a shadow behind the smoke, it was a man kneeling on his knees and his both hands were also on the ground.
"Is that you, Liro?" I slowly walked towards him and reached for him to help him stand.
"I cannot believe you did this to me," He said and look at me.
Blood was dripping on his head and his arms were full of small cuts. I knelt down facing him to help him stand. I cannot even say a word. This was my fault. What have I done?
"It was a good training though, Thank you," He said as his hands were over my shoulder and my hand was on his side.
"I'm sorry, I mean I wanted to see you play with training targets just like what you have sone to me," I tried to explain while we walk towards the clinic.
"But there were just too many colors I didn't even expect to be there." I heard him laughed when he heard me defending myself.
"I'm not blaming you, Calm down, woman."
I didn't even notice that there were students in the hallway while we are walking in this alley. All eyes were on us, surprised looks reign in the hallway as I was with Liro who was badly injured. He can't even walk properly.
"It's okay, you can just let them look at us or you can leave me now," He said and chuckled. I pinched his arm that made him screamed in pain.
"Shut up or I will,"
"I guess you had a good training, Liro,"
Liro and I looked at each other, none of us were sure if we should say something or just let the healer talk. She was putting some potion on Liro's body and a potion on his drink.
"Drink this to keep your energy from flowing to your body, this will help you and your body to heal the wounds in no time," she exclaimed.
They said that the performance of training can be judged according to the injuries you can get. The more you have the more your training is called so good.
"You may go now, Demitria. I will be escorting Liro back to his room," The healer said.
"I'll see you when I see you," I said to Liro. I was about to walk out of the room when we heard a ring on the healer's table.
"Yes, okay. I will be there in a minute," The healer looked at me and smiled.
"I'm sorry, Demitria. The headmaster is calling me, can you escort him back to his room?" She asked.
"Well, sure."As if I have a choice, this was my fault anyway so I better be receiving my punishments.
Liro's body was still in the healing process so he still needs to be guided as he walks. He will be better before sunrise tomorrow and all his wounds will be gone by tomorrow.
Healers in the academy were just as intelligent and well-trained as they should. It was a nice thing to have them inside the academy were fighting and having injuries are all normal.
"Open your door," I told Liro.
I was hesitating to enter his room since we were not allowed inside the boy's dorm. Luckily, his room was on the second floor, a floor for all the royal blood elemental users.
"I can go inside if you don't want to," He said and walk himself towards his room but just a second he fell.
"Fine, Come on," I put his arms over me again and my hands were on his side to help him stand and guide him to walk.
"Are you alright? Your heartbeat is loud and fast," I asked him as we both reached his huge bed.
"N-no, I m-mean I am a-alright," He said and cannit even look at me.
He might shake when he fell so I let him sit on the edge of his bed.
This room was bigger than our normal room. His bed was bigger than mine and he also has a small dining table and a mini living room inside his dorm.
I can't stop myself from looking around his place as it was so pleasing in the eyes. I even saw the huge family portrait on his wall as well as his own portrait.
He looks good even without smiling, even without his dimple showing and greeting. The way the color emphasizes his eye made it look more realistic.
"Thank you, Demitria. I'll see you tomorrow."
