Chapter 10: Rescuing Humans

Half a year later, Leng Ling was hunting away from their cave for Holly Berry Fruit. She didn't have any in her Phoenix Ring garden and a new recipe she wanted to try needed them.

"Did you have to go so far away, Ling'er?"

Leng Bao's voice sounded through her bracelet. Leng Ling giggled in response.

"Is it my fault that the Holly Berry Fruit grows in the Snow Snake Tribe's region? It needs the cold to grow. I'll be back in a few days."

"Be careful, Ling'er!"

This time it was Leng Ai's voice that came through.

"You worry too much, Ai'er. Who's going to attack me? Laoshi She would beat them for even daring to!"

Leng Ai's giggle sounded through the bracelet.

"That's true. You're the princess of every tribe in 10 Thousand Beast Forest!"

"Oh shut it with that made up title! You three are the only ones who call me that."

Leng Ling's face was dark as she glided through the forest using the wind element. Due to her pill refining and artificer skills, every beast tribe had made friends with her. Her wolf siblings had begun a running jokenof calling her the Beast Princess because of it. Because of their joke,it had also spread throughout the forest and other began to call her that also.

Suddenly she stopped.

"I need to go. I can hear sounds of fighting nearby. I'm going to check it out."

"Be careful, Ling'er. Don't get hurt."

Leng Bao responded before closing the communication. Leng Ling rolled her eyes before heading towards the sounds of fighting.

Before long, she spotted two men fighting a massive snow white python. A third man lay injured to the side. Leng Ling recognized the python. It was Laoshi She's son, She Gang. As one of the men when to send a strike, Leng Ling stepped between them and She Gang.

"Miss! Watch out! It'll attack you!"

One of the men cried out as he stopped his attack. Leng Ling merely waved her hand at him to stay still before approaching She Gang who had calmed down as she stepped between them.

"Brother Gang, what's happened here? Why are you fighting?"

Leng Ling popped a couple of pills into his mouth as she reached him speaking in beast tongue. She Gang was a young python and had not yet reached Supreme level yet. He was unable to speak the human language yet.

"They were trying to steal the Holly Berry Fruit you asked Dad for."

"There is no need to risk you life to protect it. I could have waited for the next one. The recipe is not urgent."

Leng Ling spoke sternly before waving him off.

"Go home. Tell Laoshi She I'll be there tomorrow. I'll settle things here."

She Gang nodded his head before sliding off. Leng Ling turned back to the men behind her before heading to the injured one on the ground after throwing more pills towards the ones standing.

"Pills? We have our own."

The man in red spoke out.

"Not like mine, you don't. Take them or not. I really don't care."

By this time she was crouched next to the man in blue lying on the ground. Checking him over carefully, she took a pot of cream out of her bracelet and smeared it over some of the external injuries before taking out a bottle and pouring out two pills. She stuffed them into his mouth where they disolved quickly. Within minutes his injuries began healing and he woke up.

Seeing the results of their friend, they quickly stuffed their pills into their mouths. Within minutes they could feel their injuries heal.

"Miss, what are these pills? I've never seen anything that works so fast."

The man in red spoke again.

Leng Ling had realized that he was the same person who called out behind her when she first stepped between them. The man in white next to him appeared silent and cold. However, she ignored them both as she monitored the one on the ground. When he woke up and sat up, she stuffed both the pot and bottle into his hands.

"Apply the cream twice a day. Take two pills three times a day for three days. You still have injuries that need attending to. Old ones from the looks of it. You should never have been out here fighting with them."

After speaking, she stood up and began to stride off in the direction of the snake.

"We're out here because of his injuries. We need the Holly Berry Fruit for the elixer to cure him."

The man in red said as the three men started to follow her.

"He has heat poison?"

All three men looked in shock at her question.

"How did you know?"

The man in blue asked.

"Holly Berry Fruit is only used in Fire Poison Elixir. I was coming to get it to make some."

"You can make Fire Poison Elixir? But that's a Godly grade medicine."

"How were you planning to make it then?"

Leng Ling asked sarcasticly. She was capable of Immortal grade medicine. Godly grade was simple in comparison.

"We were going to look for a Godly grade refiner. There's supposed to be one in Fenghuang Guo."

Leng Ling rolled her eyes.

"Forget it. I'll make it for you when we get to the Snow Snake Tribe. The one you tried to take was being held for me for this purpose."

"What do we call you Miss?"

The voice was quiet but sounded like silk as it flowed into her ears. It was the man in white who spoke for the first time in her presence.

"I am know as Leng Ling. I live with the Fire Wolf Tribe."

"But you are a human?"

The man in red asked.

"They raised me from a new born. They found me with my mother at the bottom of a cliff. My Mother did not survive the fall or the birth."

"There is such a thing? I didn't realize that beasts were capable of raising humans."

Leng Ling stopped then and turned towards them. Her face was dark with anger. Placing her hands on her hips, she began to scold them.

"Beasts are no different to humans. They raise their families. They love and care for them. In fact they are better than humans in some ways. I've never seen a beast throw their family member off a cliff to kill them. Nor have I seen them toture others.

They kill to eat or to protect. Not for fun. Unlike humans who kill just because they can and have no loyalty to their families. Always plotting and feuding against each other."

With that she spun around and strode off. The three men stood quietly in shock before quickly trying to catch up to her. It was dark by the time they caught up to her. She was faster than they had expected and was already setting up camp by the time they arrived.
