Dating Sim

"Kenma your basement really is amazing."

"You even have some old retro games that don't go on sale anymore."

"It's just that I like collecting games. Also here's the console that I told you about during the practice matches."

Leading the guys who came over to his house, Kenma showed them his basement and his vast collection of different games. The room had bookshelves filled with retro and newer branded games, with the addition of multiple different consoles.

Haruto looked at his collection and peeked at the games that he thought Akane would have drooled over since she was also a collector of such items.

Kenma told everyone to get comfortable and they all spread out throughout his basement to relax.

Haruto looked at the collection for a bit longer before approaching Kenma who was at his computer. He was on the home screen and it seemed like he was sorting video clips of his gameplay.

"I heard that you made someone break their keyboard. What did you even do to make someone rage that hard?"

"Hmm? Ah I just kept killing him right as he spawned back onto the map and I guess he couldn't take it anymore."

Kenma gave a slight smile as he remembered the feeling of giving payback to the person who kept talking shit to him.

"Wanna hear a clip I got from the time he broke it?"

"I guess so.."

Haruto didn't know if he should smile or not but he was indeed curious on what had happened.

[SHIT! STOP FUCKING KILLING ME EVERYTIME I SPAWN.]

[Skill issue.]

[YOUU!!!!]

[GG EZ.]

[THIS MOTHERFU-&$&@!&@*%]

The rest of the clip was just sounds of things breaking and a guy yelling profanities that repeated over and over. Kenma once again had a smile on his face hearing the angry outrage the person gave out.

*Ding Dong

"It looks like the food arrived."

Kenma heard his door ring and got up to get the food from the person who was delivering it. Haruto and Akaashi followed along to help him out since there was quite a bit of food for them to eat.

""Thank you Kenma for the meal!""

"Don't worry about it."

Everyone thanked Kenma and he just waved his hand not to worry. They opened up all the packages and began to eat the variety of food in front of them. It was chinese takeout so there were a boatload of portions and everyone was happy with the taste.

They savored the different types of chicken and also the fragrant noodles that paired well with the protein in the meal.

They started to talk about their time at the rock climbing place and branched out to other topics as they ate.

"Do you really think I could finally have my special encounter with a girl, when we go to the beach?!"

""No chance.""

"Come on, at least give me some hope…"

Daiki hunched forward after hearing the responses of everyone around him. The conversation suddenly shifted towards their trip that was coming up and Daiki began to imagine meeting his special someone on the beach.

"If you want to get a girlfriend then just go talk to girls and you might eventually find one."

"That's the problem, I don't know how to talk to girls."

Daiki gave a serious expression as he responded to Misaki's suggestion. Daiki, who bit down on his chicken in frustration, looked around and had his eyes land on Haruto.

"What do you want…"

"Tsk if I had a face like that, I would definitely be a certified lady killer."

"No, they will still probably think of you as a creep."

"....."

Daiki once again deflated hearing Kuroo's words and felt like his springtime might not come anytime soon.

He scanned the room and saw the piles of games that were in the corner of the room. An idea popped in his head and felt like he was able to see the light down his dark path.

"I got it! If I study through playing dating games, I will master the art of talking to girls!"

Everyone who heard his outrageous suggestion felt like he was really trying to grasp all the straws he could.

"Kenma do you have any dating sims that I could play?"

"There's one near the bottom shelf."

Daiki quickly got up and grabbed the game Kenma directed to and placed it into a console.

"Why are you following along to his stupid idea?

"I think it would be fun to see him actually try and learn through a dating sim."

Kuroo didn't say anything more after hearing Kenma's response as he was also looking forward to seeing a highschooler actually try and learn how to talk to girls through a dating sim.

"Love Connection?"

"Yeah it's a pretty straight forward game so I thought it would be a good start for him."

Haruto read the name and sat down near the screen since he was curious. Some of the guys stayed back to continue eating while others gathered around the screen to watch Daiki play.

He got through the introduction and saw all the different candidates and now he was about to decide who he should aim for.

"Who should I go for?"

"Go for the short haired girl first."

"Go for the long haired girl first."

Kuroo and Haruto spoke out their suggestions and they narrowed their eyes at each other.

"Short hair is better since it gives a unique style while also enhancing the girl's facial features without overwhelming it."

"Long hair is better since it gives off the feeling of grace and beauty, especially when you see her hair dance through the air as she walks. Plus it's very versatile with different hair styles."

Kuroo and Haruto began a heavy debate on which length of hair was better forgetting that Daiki was the one who would be choosing.

"Kageyama, which one is better?!"

Haruto called out to Kageyama who was listening to their debate and after a while of thinking he spoke his preference.

"Short hair should be better right since it doesn't get in the way when you play volleyball."

Haruto didn't know what to say but his eyebrows furrowed after seeing Kuroo's annoying grin.

"I choose her!"

Daiki said out loud and decided who he should go for. Kuroo and Haruto looked at the screen to see who he chose and it was a girl with medium length hair.

"Mei, a girl who works part time as a model and is the daughter of the richest man in the city. She is also a model student who is the top of her class…"

"Isn't she too high level for you to start off on?"

"Don't they say, if you want to dream you should dream big."

Daiki felt confident in his choice and proceeded to go through the game trying his best to court the girl he chose.

[Mei is about to go home, what should you do?]

[A) Invite her to go home with you.]

[B) Go home by yourself.]

"I should probably ask her to go home with me right?"

"Go ahead, this is your training isn't it."

Daiki nodded his head after hearing Haruto's words and chose option A.

[Mei: Who are you? I don't think we have met so please get away from me before I call the cops.]

"That was rough."

"Don't mind."

Haruto whistled after seeing that rough rejection and Kuroo patted Daiki on the shoulder.

Daiki deflated but suddenly came back with new determination and continued his journey of mastering the art of talking to girls.

Kenma felt bad for him and gave out some advice on how to win affection points and after a while Daiki was faced with another big event in the game.

[Mei is smiling bashfully after you gave her a present. What should you do?]

[A) Confess feelings]

[B) Continue enjoying your date.]

"I should probably wait a bit longer before I confess. I want to rake up some more affection points with her."

Daiki spoke out his thoughts and the others watching just thought of what he should do.

"Just confess, or else you might make her wait too long and fail."

Kenma spoke out and gathered the attention of everyone who surrounded Daiki and were watching him play.

"But I currently have a good status quota with her so shouldn't I get more affection points so I could guarantee my confession?"

"But why should you wait? Her actions show that she likes you so just confess and get to the next stage. Why make her wait any longer."

Kenma spoke his thoughts as he ate his fortune cookie and everyone started to agree with him. Haruto who heard these words felt his heart itch as he thought of his relationship with Mahiru.

"Alright I guess I have nothing to lose right?"

Daiki felt swayed by Kenma's opinion and chose the first option of confessing his feelings.

[Mei: I have been waiting for you to say those words!]

On the screen it showed the character Daiki was aiming for, shed tears as she ran up to hug his in-game model. A cut scene happened and everyone cheered, congratulating Daiki on his success after failing many times.

"So do you think you understand girls now?"

"Uhh so if I buy the special bread on Tuesday at lunch, I could meet a beautiful model student right?"

"I don't think this game helped you at all…"

Kenma covered his face as he heard Daiki's answer and wondered if he learned even a single thing playing this game.

As they were talking about the results of his training, Haruto watched the ending scene on the computer and saw how the MC and the heroine smiled happily as they held hands.

"I shouldn't make her wait…."

Haruto whispered as his eyes shined with seriousness and his feelings of wanting to take his relationship with Mahiru with more sincerity grew.
