Chapter 22

A night already passed by.

Clyde and Steven are already present on a platform where a massive number of students have gathered.

The platform is enormous, with intricate engravings on the floor that are difficult to distinguish among the throngs of students.

Marco has brought Clyde and Steven here for quite a time now, but he has remained silent and simply left them on this platform.

Thousands of students have already gathered on the platform, bewildered and unsure of why they are there. No teacher or instructor is present and all of them have been brought here and been left without explanation.

Before anyone could voice their complaints, a brilliant white light enveloped the entire platform, causing the students to be taken aback by the sudden and intense brightness. Even Clyde was caught off guard by the unexpected occurrence.

Without warning or explanation, the students suddenly disappeared from view with a loud pop. All at once, they vanished into thin air, leaving the platform eerily silent.

After a while, with a dazed feeling, Clyde opened his eyes and surveyed his surroundings. He discovered he was in a desolate house filled with cobwebs and dilapidated furniture. The other students who were previously with him were nowhere to be seen.

"We've been teleported," Clyde realized. "The test must have begun." He understood that they had been transported through some kind of array and that the platform they previously stood on was just a starting point.

Clyde also noticed that upon teleporting, a small and unremarkable book had appeared in his hand. Despite its unassuming appearance, he realized that the book held valuable information.

As Clyde settled in a corner of the house, he opened the book, determined to familiarize himself with its contents. He did not plan to venture outside just yet, as he knew that he needed to understand the rules before proceeding.

As he read the book, Clyde discovered that it contained information about his name, kills, and current rank. It also listed the rules of the test, which stated that the students must survive in these place for five days and that the top 500 ranked students would be accepted.

The book explained that students could also earn points by plundering other students and stealing their points.

"I think we're in some kind of dungeon," Clyde thought to himself. "This test is quite dangerous. I might be putting my life at risk here." He couldn't help but think about the potential dangers he might face.

After taking a moment to gather his thoughts, Clyde made the decision to scout the area first.

He understood that all the students had been randomly transported to this place and he had no idea how vast this place was. Despite the uncertainty, he needs to make the most of the situation, adjusting and earning points gradually over time.

Clyde approached a window and gingerly lifted the hanging curtain to get a glimpse of what was outside.

Outside the window, Clyde saw an undead creature with rotting flesh aimlessly wandering down the road. There were also nearby houses, but they all appeared old and worn down.

"This must be an undead dungeon," Clyde thought to himself. "That undead creature looks like it's level 8. I should be able to take it down."

Before taking action, Clyde made sure to carefully observe the area to ensure that no one was nearby. Once he was confident that he was alone, he quietly climbed out the window and made his way outside, trying to be as stealthy as possible so that the undead wouldn't detect him.

As the undead showed no signs of noticing Clyde, he utilized his agility amplification to greatly increase his speed and approached the undead in a flash.

A dagger appeared in his hand, and he swiftly stabbed the undead in the head, leaving it dead and unable to react.

[Ding! 20 exp.]

Dispatching the undead, Clyde quickly rushed back to the abandoned house and reentered, opting to play it safe for now.

Clyde opened the book once again and was pleased to see that his first kill had earned him two points, raising his rank from 778 out of 10,260 students.

Realizing that the book can automatically update itself, Clyde decided to take a quick look around from the window again before climbing out and making his way onto the roof for a better view.

From his vantage point on the roof, Clyde saw several undead roaming the roads from afar. He realized he was in a city-like environment, with the area he was in appearing to be the slums. In the distance, he could see towering buildings and other structures.

"It seems that the objective of this test is to survive in a city overrun by zombies. The inner city probably has a large number of them and other participants may have already headed there to gather points. I need to plan my next steps carefully," Clyde thought as he continued his observations.

Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed in the distance a few meters away from Clyde. He glances to the right and sees a house engulfed in flames a few houses down from him.

"There could be other participants involved," Clyde thought as he descended from the roof. Utilizing his amplification, he sprinted through the streets as stealthily.

Arriving at the place, he could see a young fat kid with a round face, surrounded by a dozen undead.

The man was aimlessly firing off fireballs at the undead, attracting even more of them to his location. his expression was one of desperation and fear as he tried to fend off the relentless horde of undead.

Clyde sighed as he watched the overweight young man surrounded by zombies. He realized that without intervention, it would only be a matter of time before the man would be overpowered and devoured.

Without hesitation, he decided to help the kid. Stretching his hand aiming at the corner where the undead are, and activated "fireball". Clyde blasted the undead obliterating them in a few seconds, earning him a few experience points of varied sizes.

The young man was overwhelmed by the sight of the fireball destroying the zombies, and cried out in awe of its power.

The intense heat generated by the spell was palpable, and he could feel it on his skin.

Realizing that the undead were completely destroyed, he flop to the ground, feeling drained. looking up at Clyde with gratitude in his eyes.

Clyde moved swiftly toward the kid. "Hey, you should get up right away." while pointing into the left.

The young man saw numerous undead heading their way as he gazed toward the direction where Clyde pointed.

"Oh shit," Forced to stand up, the young man couldn't help but curse. His body was flooded with adrenaline as he followed Clyde's quick dash as they ran.

Clyde and the young man escaped from the undead by putting some distance between themselves and the pursuing horde. Out of breath, they entered a nearby house.

"What's your name?" Clyde asked as he approached Jacob.

"Jacob," he replied, still catching his breath. "Thank you for saving me."

"You're welcome," Clyde said, taking a seat in the corner. "Take a rest for a while."

Clyde also takes a rest for a few minutes as he needs to recover a little bit of his mana, consumed during the clash.

Meanwhile, Jacob sat quietly in a corner, still catching his breath and taking in their surroundings. He couldn't help but be in awe of the young man in front of him.

Although he didn't know the level of power behind those fireballs, just feeling their intensity from a distance made his heart race.
