'Do you live nearby?' I asked. It raised its head. I took it as an yes.
'Where?'
The dog tugged at my shirt, motioning for me to follow him. It went out of the window. I climbed over the window and landed on our small back yard.
'Where are we going?' I asked the dog. It didn't bark but pointed at a cellar on the ground. If it wasn't open, I would have never noticed it. The color of the cellar door matched with the ground. It was impossible for anyone to see it unless they noticed closely. The dog must have entered through there. But where did it lead to?
The dog went through it. I followed closely. Inside, it was like a small tunnel. It led straight ahead. I followed the dog till we reached a mini staircase. It was probably the exit. I hesitated. What if it was a trap? What if I was being kidnapped by this mute dog? But my curiosity was stronger. For some reason, the dog seemed completely harmless. I climbed up the stairs and out of the tunnel.
To my surprise, I was staring up at the giant mansion next to our house. So this is where the tunnel led to, I thought. The dog ran forward. I followed it to the mansion's main door. It was ajar. Mee always warned me not to enter someone's house uninvited. But the mansion...
No Deen! I scolded myself. Remember what Mee said. Do not enter strange places.
But the mansion in all its grandeur, was standing in front of me. I never went into a fancy house before. And I probably wouldn't get another chance.
Just a little peek, I thought
Stifling my conscience, I sneaked in to the mansion. It was even bigger inside. The living room was probably the size of our house. It was spacious and had numerous shelves, lined up with CD's. A large TV was hung on the middle and colorful sofa sets surrounded the area. At the corner was a fireplace, with a rocking chair next to it. I sat on it, rocking the chair to and fro.
After a few minutes, I wandered off into another hallway. And my jaw dropped in awe. It was a game room. Several arcade games were lined up against the walls. There was another TV which was attached to gaming consoles. A pool table lay in the middle of the room and a foosball table right next to it. I was excited. This was a kid's heaven. I gleefully turned on one of the racing games.
A catchy music came up and the game started. As soon as the countdown ended, my car lunged forward at great speed.
'Go! Go! Go!' I urged as it swerved past several cars. I hit the accelerator and it sped up. Soon I was fifth position. I boosted my speed and turned so hard that some of the cars crashed behind me. I quickly got to the second position. It was just me and the other car.
We were both neck to neck. The finish line was just seconds away.
Almost there. Almost there...almost. Just a second away.
Suddenly the screen went blank.
'What the hell!' I cursed. 'I was so close-'
I looked up to see three people staring at me. The last time I saw them, they were not very happy with me. They didn't look happy this time either.
