Ren's sleep was anything but peaceful. As he drifted off, his mind was assaulted by vivid, terrifying images. He found himself restrained on a cold, metallic platform, his arms and legs clamped down tightly. The room around him was sterile and brightly lit, filled with the hum of machines and the murmurs of scientists.
"Initiate the serum injection," one scientist said, his voice devoid of emotion. Ren watched in horror as a syringe filled with a glowing blue liquid was brought to his arm. The needle pierced his skin, and an intense burning sensation spread through his veins.
The scene shifted. Now, he was being subjected to various procedures. Needles jabbed into his flesh, strange medicines were pumped into his body. Each injection brought a new wave of agony. His body convulsed and twisted against the restraints, but there was no escape.
The scene changed again. This time, the pain was centered on his back. He could feel the scientists working, their tools cold and invasive. He screamed as they inserted something into his bones, the pain so intense it felt like his spine was being torn apart.
Ren's cries echoed in the sterile room, but the scientists continued their work, indifferent to his suffering.
Suddenly, Ren awoke with a gasp, drenched in sweat and heart pounding. His eyes darted around the his room, trying to ground himself in the present. The nightmare had felt so real, so visceral.
Huff.. Huff.. Huff..
He sat up, clutching his head as the snippets of memories continued to flash before his eyes. They were fragments of this body's past, pieces of the horrific experiments that had been done to him.
"Those... those were real," he whispered to himself, the realization sinking in. These memories were from his previous body, his previous life. They were coming back to him, bit by bit, revealing the gruesome truth of what he had endured.
Ren took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. He needed to understand what had been done to him, to piece together the fragmented memories and uncover the full story of everything. But for now, he had to focus on the present and the challenges that lay ahead.
He wiped the sweat from his brow and sat up, still trying to shake off the remnants of the nightmare.
Knock!! Knock!! Knock!!
A soft knock echoed through the quiet room. Startled, he glanced at the door.
Ren swung his legs off the bed and padded over to the door, cautiously opening it. Standing there was an agent, dressed in the typical black suit and sunglasses of the NSA and he's holding a briefcase. The agent's expression was calm but serious.
"Good morning, Ren," the agent said with a nod. "I'm Agent Collins. Rick Dicker sent me to check on you."
"Good morning," Ren replied, trying to compose himself despite the lingering fear from his nightmare.
Agent Collins gave him a small, reassuring smile. "Also, I have some good news for you. I have a delivery for you from Edna Mode. She said your suit is finished and ready for action."
Ren's eyes widened in surprise and excitement. "Really? It's here?"
"Yes," Agent Collins confirmed, holding up a sleek black case. "Edna works quickly and efficiently. She wanted to make sure you had it as soon as possible."
Ren stepped aside, letting Agent Collins into the room. The agent placed the case on the bed and opened it, revealing the suit inside. It was sleek and modern, with a dark, metallic sheen. The material looked both flexible and durable, perfectly tailored to accommodate his unique abilities.
Ren reached out and touched the suit, feeling the smooth fabric under his fingers. "It's amazing," he said, awe in his voice. "Edna really is the best."
"She is," Agent Collins agreed. "And this suit is designed specifically for you. It will help you control your abilities and keep you safe."
Ren nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude. "I can't wait to try it on."
Agent Collins stepped back, giving him some space. "I'll leave you to it, then. If you need any assistance, just let me know.
"Got it," Ren said, still marveling at the suit. "Thanks, Agent Collins."
The agent nodded and left the room, closing the door gently behind him. Ren took a deep breath, his excitement overshadowing the lingering fear from his nightmare. He carefully lifted the suit from the case and began to put it on, feeling the material mold perfectly to his body.
Once he was fully suited up,Ren stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the sleek suit Edna Mode had designed for him. The material felt incredible against his skin, perfectly flexible yet incredibly durable. Ren looked at himself in the mirror and admired his reflection. He looked like a superhero. He felt like one too. The suit felt comfortable and empowering, like a second skin. l
As he admired the way it fit, he couldn't help but strike a few poses
"Man, this suit is cool," he muttered, grinning at his reflection. "It really looks like Miguel O'Hara's Spider-Man suit but instead of blue it's black."
He shifted his stance, mimicking some of the classic superhero poses he remembered from the comics and movies. The suit moved with him effortlessly, enhancing his form and giving him an aura of confidence and power. The dark, metallic sheen caught the light just right, making him look like a futuristic hero ready to leap into action.
Ren held up his hands, examining the way the suit accommodated his talons when they extended. He flexed his fingers, retracting and extending the talons a few times. The suit adapted seamlessly, offering both protection and freedom of movement.
"Edna really outdid herself," he said, admiration evident in his voice. He turned slightly, checking out how the suit looked from different angles. "This is perfect."
Feeling a surge of excitement, Ren took a deep breath and then crouched down, leaping into the air and sticking to the wall. The suit clung to him as naturally as his own skin, supporting him as he tested his newfound agility. He launched himself off the wall, landing gracefully back on his feet.
"Yeah, this is definitely going to work," he said, a smile spreading across his face. "I can do this."
Ren struck one final pose, fists on his hips, looking every bit the part of a superhero. The suit made him feel ready to take on the world—or at least, the challenges that lay ahead in his training.
Lost in his thoughts, he almost didn't notice the sudden blaring of an emergency alarm that shattered the quiet of the hospital room. The loud, urgent sound jolted him back to reality.
"Attention! Attention! Code Red in Sector C. There is a super that cannot control her powers and is distorting the space of a facility. All agents are to report to the briefing room immediately. This is not a drill. Repeat, this is not a drill."
Ren's heart raced as he turned away from the mirror, his mind snapping into focus. He rushed to the door and peeked out into the hallway, which was suddenly filled with bustling activity. Nurses and doctors hurried past, their faces set with urgency.
"What's going on?" Ren muttered to himself, his excitement turning into concern. He stepped out of his room, looking around for any sign of Rick , Agent Collins or any of his friends.
Just then, he spotted Tom running down the hall, his expression serious. Ren waved to get his attention. "Tom! Tom, wait up!"
Tom, who was in the midst of running , turned at the sound of his name. When his eyes landed on Ren, clad in his sleek new suit, his brow furrowed in confusion. "Who are you?"
Ren quickly reached up and pulled off his mask, revealing his face. "It's me, Tom. Ren."
Tom's eyes widened in recognition, and he let out a sigh of relief. "Ren! Thank God. I didn't recognize you in that getup."
Ren smiled, his adrenaline still pumping from the fight. "Yeah, it's a new look. What's the situation here?"
Tom glanced around, assessing the ongoing chaos. "It's because of Karen. She can't control her power, and the room where she was practicing is being distorted by her power of the void."
Ren felt a pang of worry. Karen was her friend and she had the ability to create and manipulate create void portals that could transport anything to anywhere. She was a funny and lively girl.
"How bad is it?" Ren asked.
"Pretty bad. The room is collapsing, and the portals are spreading. We need to get her out of there, before she hurts herself or anyone else."
Ren was shocked. He had never seen Karen's power go out of control like that. He wondered what had triggered it.
"Where is she?" he asked.
"She's in her room, on the third floor. I'm going in to get her. You coming?"
Ren nodded, without hesitation. He was not going to leave his friend behind. He followed Tom, as they ran towards the third floor. As they approached Karen's room, they could see the door was warped and cracked, and a dark energy was seeping out of it.
They opened the door, and saw Karen clutching her head, as black portals were being summoned by her. Her power was out of control, and she looked terrified and in pain. The room was a mess, with furniture and objects being sucked into the portals, or thrown around by the force.
"Karen!" Ren and Tom called out, as they came near her. "Karen, it's us, Ren and Tom. We're here to help you. Please, calm down."
Karen looked up, and saw them. She recognized them, but she was too scared and confused to react. She felt her power overwhelming her, and she didn't know how to stop it.
"Go back!" she cried out, in a weak voice. "Go back, it's not safe. I can't control it. I can't control it!"
Ren and Tom ignored her warning, and continued to approach her. They wanted to help her, to comfort her, to make her feel safe. They reached her, and Ren touched her shoulder, gently.
"Karen, it's okay. We're here for you. You're not alone. You can do this. You can control your power. Just focus on us, and breathe. Breathe, Voyd. Breathe."
As Ren spoke, he felt a something amiss. He looked around, and saw one of the black portals started to be out of control. It grew larger and larger, and it started to suck everything around it, including Rem. He felt a sudden pull, as if the portal was trying to drag him in.
"What the fuck!"
Thwip~
He reacted quickly, using his organic web, he shoot a web at a nearby wall. He gripped the web tightly, hoping it would hold him back from the portal.
"Shit, What the hell!!" he exclaimed, staring at the portal in shock and fear.
He felt the portal's force increase, pulling him harder and harder. He struggled to resist, but it was too much. His web snapped, and he flew towards the portal.
"FUUUUCK!!" he yelled, as he disappeared into the blackness.
He felt a surge of pain, as if he was being torn apart by the portal. He saw flashes of light and images, as if he was traveling through time and space. He had no idea where he was going, or if he would ever come back.
He closed his eyes, and prayed for a miracle.
"REN!!"
Tom watched in horror, as his friend disappeared into the portal. He shouted his name, but he got no response. He felt a surge of anger, and sadness.
Karen also watched, as Ren vanished into the portal. She felt a shock, and a guilt. She had caused this. She had hurt her friend, because of her power. She felt a tear roll down her cheek, and she lost her consciousness
