Chapter 50: Unlucky Peter

This is what happened.

In that era of the Great Depression, mergers and acquisitions were common, and social wealth was increasingly concentrated in the hands of a few wealthy individuals.

As a result, social purchasing power declined, leading to an increase in goods and difficulties exporting capital during business operations, which further led to problems such as overproduction and excess capital.

Overproduction problems caused many workers to become unemployed and laid off.

When people lost their jobs, they didn't have money to pay rent, so rents had to decrease.

To ensure income, landlords of these dilapidated buildings would pack in more tenants.

The situation kept getting worse.

As more people fell behind on rent each month, the landlords' businesses became increasingly unsustainable.

But they couldn't sell the buildings because no one wanted a run-down place overcrowded with people in the hallways.

Then, a fire broke out, igniting one of the dilapidated apartments.

The result was: the landlord left safely with a large insurance payout, while the residents were left homeless again. Additionally, a little girl died in the fire. —In this dark era, it's hard to know whether this was lucky or unlucky.

When Noir Spider-Man, who knew about this incident, wanted to tell the police the full details, Ulrich told him: There is no point in doing so.

Because many people were involved in this matter: police officers, insurance companies, investigators, gangs, landlords. It was a huge chain of vested interests.

In Peter's eyes, Adrian Toomes (the Vulture) was also one of these people.

Although what he said sounded righteous, about resisting oppression and finding a way to survive, he was actually just building his misery on the backs of others.

And worst of all, the people he blamed for his suffering were not his perceived "enemies", but those who were suffering just like he had in the past.

It was Damage Control and Stark Industries that put him in misery.

If he really dared to fight against them, then Peter would praise him as a brave man.

But in reality, this guy just stole some insignificant scraps from the Damage Control department as petty "revenge".

He then sold these dangerous weapons to the criminal gangs active in the city, and these gangs engaged in reckless shootouts, causing both psychological and physical trauma to ordinary citizens.

This is no way to resist oppression!

"Shut up!" As if Peter had torn away the fig leaf covering Toomes' face, he was stunned for a moment, then became enraged and rushed towards Peter.

The huge wings created a sharp whistling sound, which was menacing.

On the other side, Peter was no longer prepared to drag this out any longer.

It was already getting quite late in the day.

He had left in the afternoon and rushed to investigate. It was already six or seven o'clock in the evening when he met the Punisher and Daredevil in Hell's Kitchen.

Then, after waiting another two hours for the deal between members of the Hellhound gang and the villains, it was almost nine o'clock in the evening.

By the time they arrived at the processing plant in Brooklyn, it was already around 10 PM.

It would still take time to get back to his home in Queens from Brooklyn!

Fortunately, Aunt May went out today and wouldn't be back. Otherwise, he didn't know how to explain his absence.

But even so, he had no intention of spending the night out.

"Finish it early and go home early!"

Peter ducked out from behind the pillar and shot several impact webbing shots with both hands, hitting the propellers of Toomes' metal wings.

This was a tougher, reinforced impact webbing.

The moment it exploded, all the propellers were stuck and unable to move.

The metal wings instantly lost over 80% of their power, leaving only a few small jet holes for steering that provided very little thrust.

In a panic, Toomes reluctantly opened the jet holes and adjusted the direction so that he didn't hit the wall head-first.

At this time, Peter took action again.

He used webbing to bind Toomes from behind and pulled hard!

Toomes, who was originally flying sideways, was pulled straight back.

"Are you ready for a friendly greeting from your pal Spider-Man, Mr. Toomes!" Peter yelled, jumping up into the air and kicking Toomes in the stomach.

Ugh! Even with the protection of the flight suit, Toomes was hit so hard he almost vomited and nearly passed out.

Peter flipped over onto Toomes' back, holding the middle of the metal wing with one hand while grabbing the wing itself with the other, then tearing it apart with brute force.

Screech, screech, screech -

An ear-piercing grinding sound accompanied by sparks as half of the wing was brutally torn off by Peter's enhanced strength!

Peter followed suit and tore off the other metal wing as well.

This way, Toomes would no longer have any ability to escape!

Afterwards, Peter thoughtfully tied up Toomes, Mason, Brice, and Schultz together and called the police again.

This time the police response was much faster than before.

Because Toomes had recently attacked the police car escorting Brice and Schultz, they were already searching for traces of him on the streets.

Upon hearing the report, they immediately headed this way and drove over.

As for Peter, he turned on the recorder in his suit, took pictures of everything in Toomes' weapon processing factory, and then had Karen send his actions to Tony Stark.

With this evidence, he believed he could become an official Avenger, right?

Fixed salary!

Benefits!

Technical support!

Peter couldn't help but start daydreaming about his improved life.

By this time, he was already on his way home.

Because he was distracted, he almost ran into cars or walls several times.

Fortunately, his spider-sense warned him each time, allowing him to avoid any real danger.

But was everything really completely safe?

As we all know, Peter Parker always seems to have an unlucky streak, and many unfortunate things always seem to inexplicably happen to him.

For example, there's the Spider-Man from Earth-94 who is either taking the blame or on the path to taking the blame (but is unwilling to reveal his world's designation).

Another example is the animated Ultimate Spider-Man who was inexplicably body-swapped with Wolverine.

And now, the unlucky one was Peter himself.

When Peter got off a ride and came near his home, he discovered something horrifying.

The lights in his house were on!

As soon as Peter opened the door, he saw Aunt May sitting primly on the couch.

She had a pair of devil horns on her head and was holding a fruit knife.

"Peter, could you please tell me what you were doing out so late at night? If the answer doesn't satisfy me, hehehe~" Aunt May licked the fruit knife and showed a sweet, but sinister, smile.

"Ah——"

(Imagine the girl's scream from Spider-Man 2--Just search girls screaming in spider man 2 it is hilarious)

Peter looked at the room across in horror, his face turning pale white.
