The Boss

As we entered, I noticed the room was bigger than I thought. With small cubicles covering every inch of space except a narrow hallway. People working very quietly, the only sound being the clicking and clanking of their keyboards as they type quickly. The room as colorless as the outside.

Looking at the man who opened the door, he looked massive. He was shaped like a bodybuilder and looked uncomfortable in the suit and tie he wore. Getting a bit distracted in my surroundings, I felt Jack tugging on my arm as we were getting left behind.

After catching up, we saw that Tyler halted in front of another door. This one being wooden, with big gold letters spelling, 'Boss's Office'. He then knocked on the door announcing that his name was Tyler and that he was requested to come to the boss's office. There was no response back. We waited for a few minutes and finally, a voice ushered us in. Tyler opened the door for us and Jack and I entered the room. It was a decently sized space, with lots of filing cabinets and a very long desk where the boss sat.

"I didn't expect you to have visitors," A gentle voice said as the woman behind the desk stood up to greet us.

"Well, I didn't expect you to be so busy," Tyler replied matching her tone.

"I'm the owner of this company, just call me boss since they have to and I don't feel like giving out my name to strangers." Following her words with a firm handshake and a deep stare into each other's eyes.

Intimidated, I just smiled and went along with the handshake. She seemed nice upfront but something about her rubs me the wrong way.

She then quickly turned to Jack which made him jump.

"So, Jack. What gave you the urge, to steal the things I give to your co-workers? hmm?"

Gulping his nervousness aside he responded, "Well, I thought...I-It could....be useful?"

Even though you could see her smile drop to a frown as she furrowed her brows, she said nothing, only a sigh.

"You got very close to getting fired. Another move like that and I'll have no choice but to fire you." She waited to read his expression, letting the information set in. "Understood?"

All he could do was nod as he was starting to sweat.

"Oh and Tyler, you don't let him out of sight. The girl hasn't done anything to betray my trust. But..Jack has, and must be under surveillance." She softly spoke.

"If that is what you feel is best. I can't argue with my boss." Tyler said once again copying her gentle tone, with a bit of sarcasm.

"Good!" She said satisfied with his response, followed by swiftly turning around to sort her work on her desk. "Now if you don't mind I have work to do."

Tyler then exits the room with me and Jack following shortly behind.

"You didn't have to tell on me you know.." Jack grunted, folding his arms and glaring over at Tyler.

"If it makes you feel better, I didn't tell anyone about that. I was told to go meet up with her before I even noticed it was missing."
