The Other Side

Meanwhile, as Jack, Tyler, and I entered the portal, I was in awe at what I saw. It was similar to how our society was structured, but everything was so colorless. There wasn't really any hint of any other colors other than dark blues and greens. The paved road we walked on was very dark in color and almost looked like a void one could fall into. The houses, all similar in shape and size, the only difference being the numbers on each other doors.

"Is this really where you live?" I asked Jack, trailing close behind him.

He glanced over at me before grabbing my arm.

"Yes, it is. Just don't get lost."

The road we walked on seemed to lead directly to a huge building in the far distance and the houses seemed to continue on forever. But eerily there was no one around. It was very silent. There was no breeze here either, making the air almost feel stale.

As we continued to follow Tyler, I felt like we were being watched. The environment was making me a little paranoid. I guess.

"Jack?" I quietly whispered to him.

"Yes?" He answered out loud, confused by why I was being so quiet.

"Do you feel like we're being watched?" I whispered again.

He seemed to be a mixture of worried and concerned. Thinking hard about my question.

"No, I don't think we are. Humans aren't generally brought here so that might be messing with you."

I could only sigh of relief. This is where he came from so he probably knows more about it than me. I also felt comforted by his response. I'm not sure why, but it helped. It's probably not good for me to stay here for too long. But then, how could he survive in my world? He seems to be perfectly fine there.

As I continued to ponder we reached our destination.

"Well, here's management."

It was a big gray building, that looked to have four floors and no windows. Only having one metal door, seemingly for entering and exiting.

Tyler then knocked on the door three times and a tiny window on the door opened.

"Oh! Well if it isn't Tyler. Guessing you already spoke with management?" The strange voice said, sounding a little deep.

"Well they contacted me first, but yes I did. I also brought guests." Tyler said.

"Hmm, okay. I'll let you in, but you're responsible for them too. Don't want any more trouble going on." The voice grunted.

"Of course," Tyler replied.

The door then opened, inviting us in.
