One Hungry Slime

Fucking bastard.

Those words echoed in Gao Rong's mind as soon as he saw Zhang Ying. It didn't matter if it was on Earth or the Otherworld, Zhang Ying had always been a step ahead of him.

First, he had Liang Mei hovering around him, and now he had a badass beauty all for himself. But it wasn't too bad. As a warrior class, Gao Rong had a bright future ahead of him.

Besides, Zhang Ying was his friend. If he stayed close to Zhang Ying, he will benefit.

If I prove I'm better than him, I could convince that beauty to kick him out.

Gao Rong couldn't help but smile at that thought. Meanwhile, Zhang Ying, who was walking behind, couldn't help but roll his eyes. He knew what was going on in Gao Rong's head. After all, a leopard never changes its spots. But it was alright.

This is the last time I, or anyone, would ever see him.

Zhang Ying looked around. They were inside a damp cave, overloaded with strong Silmany Vines. Silmany vines were one of the few things the slimes couldn't break down. That's why it was the only vegetation inside the cave.

As they moved, Zhang Ying kept picking the vines, making a rope out of it. After all, dealing with slimes was no small deal. Most slimes secrete acid that could burn and melt even the strongest unenchanted metal. Consuming a corpse wasn't such a big deal for them.

Because of their strong acid, people often used slimes on battlefields full of corpses. The cheap slimes would eat everything, cleaning the battlefield so that not even the blood remained behind. It was a quick and efficient use of resources.

The only reason they avoided the Silmany vine was because it tasted terrible. But that didn't mean they wouldn't eat the bait tied to the vine, especially if it was a rare delicacy like human flesh.

"So... how have you been?" Gao Rong broke the silence. "Got any boom clap action yet?"

"Just... look at this," Zhang Ying sighed, showing off his wedding ring.

"Damn... it's not even been a day and you're married already?"

"You think I had a choice?" Zhang Ying shrugged. "What about you?"

"Eh, some city officer bought me. He said I'd make a good border patrol officer, so here I am, training before taking the exam. His wife and daughter have awesome figures, so that's a bonus."

Zhang Ying sighed. Gao Rong would never change, always focusing on things he didn't have. Well, it didn't matter. Soon it'll all be over.

"Oh, I almost forgot, what about those... goblin you had? I didn't think you'd come alone here."

"My... wife made me release them."

Gao Rong looked taken aback. At least he acted that way, but Zhang Ying saw a hint of a smile before Gao Rong turned away. It didn't take a genius to know what was going on inside his head.

Poor Zhang Ying was all alone in the dungeon with him. It was the best time to teach him a lesson or two. But before he could do anything, someone bounced in the distance.

The two looked ahead, and it was a slimy creature bouncing around. A few others followed him around.

"Damn, these actually exist," Gao Rong mumbled.

Zhang Ying shook his head. The dudhead fought goblins but was surprised to see slimes.

[Evaluation: All Earthlings are fools.]

[Congratulations User, you've found your kin!]

"...bitch."

"Did you say something?"

"I called those slimes a bitch," Zhang Ying replied. "Do you know how to deal with them?"

Gao Rong shook his head. Zhang Ying wanted to roll his eyes badly but didn't want to alert Gao Rong just yet.

"I have a plan. Just stay back." Zhang Ying mumbled.

Before Gao Rong could ask him anything, Zhang Ying left the cover and boldly walked towards the group of slimes.

Even a wild slime has Knight-level potential. How shitty was that beast farm to only have knight-level pets?

Zhang Ying pushed that thought out of his head. He pointed his hand towards the blue slime and activated [Capture].

[Capture successful.]

[Please name your Gel Slime.]

"I'm not planning on keeping it, so how about…" Zhang Ying mumbled. "Jellybean."

[Jellybean is overjoyed by earning a name.]

[Loyalty raised to 89%]

"..."

[Confirmed. The user doesn't appreciate sarcasm.]

"..."

Ignoring the system's sarcasm, Zhang Ying turned his attention to the slime, before pointing to the other slimes and giving one instruction.

"Eat them."

The blue slime turned and launched itself at the nearest slime with no hesitation. The two slimes collided. Their gooey bodies made wet slapping noises as they jumped over one another.

Zhang Ying watched as his slime enveloped the other, pulling it in like a predator devouring its prey. Soon enough, the slapping sounds stopped, and Jellybean absorbed the other completely, leaving nothing behind.

[Green Slime slain!]

[You gained 10 EXP.]

[Jellybean gained 5 EXP.]

The change in Jellybean was immediately noticeable. It grew larger, its blue color darkening slightly. Jellybean jiggled more aggressively now, as if driven by its newfound hunger. It didn't have eyes, but Zhang Ying could feel the slime staring at him, eager for the next order.

"Again," Zhang Ying smirked.

Jellybean didn't waste any time and hurried on to the next slime. This time, it took even less time than before to finish devouring it. It crashed through other slimes, swallowing everything in sight.

With each enemy it devoured, Jellybean grew stronger, its size doubling, then tripling. All the while, Zhang Ying watched with his arms crossed with a satisfied smile.

"I don't need weapons," he murmured. "Just one hungry slime is enough to conquer the dungeon."
