Third year is where it’s at

Jon entered with his friends and sat at the Gryffindor table as is the tradition. Meridith and Anna, the two Disney princesses singled him and their "Boss" Mordred out when they were boarding the carriages.

The two girls were desperate to know of their escapades abroad. Meridith and Hiccup over the summer were made to go on their families hunting trips. Hiccup hated that his knowledge relating to creatures was used to kill them rather than preserve them but he couldn't complain as they were used for rituals that would help him. Meridith however was insulted at the easy game that she had to hunt so wished to accompany her idols.

The Scottish clans have a specific ritual with reminiscent tones to body magic. Essentially they absorb a fraction of the strength of the creatures they kill. Hiccup said his father popped a "nadder" which was a Scottish term for a Catalonian fireball. Jon assumes Stoic Devast inherited a portion of his mother's strength at birth if the story was to believed.

Other than speaking with the two girls Jon also made conversation with the Weasely twins, he has from time to time purchased some of their wares for private use. They have no idea how lethal this stuff can be if used properly. Crack open a dung bomb and pour it into someone's pumpkin juice, death via explosive diarrhoea.

Mordred nudged Jon to gain his attention "any probes on you yet?" She asked referring to a legilimency probe normally released by either Dumbledore or Snape. They mostly glance over us due to it being ineffective in the past but who knows? Maybe they'd try.

"No none yet, did you finish the parsel magic notes from the chamber? We may have to go down there for a more in depth search now."

She nodded "yes I read the snake crevice spell, Salazar was pretty sneaky crafting a whole warding scheme with the language." Jon nodded showing that he showed equal respect to the man. Seriously he single handedly developed a whole branch of magic for himself.

Perhaps the Gaunts could use the same once upon a time, they had seen a Gaunt book that was filled with parselscribe. They also crafted a written version for parseltongue somehow, Jon can read the words now that he can speak to snakes. It's like when someone has enough of a mastery the scribbles covert to the easiest language they understand.

Jon leaned close to Mordred "we should also start emptying out the room of lost things. Without a major threat in the castle things will be tame for once. Next year Umbitch will make it impossible to do so."

Mordred nodded solemnly, She isn't looking forward to spending several months next to that Grackle. The pink ponce would probably try inflating her own ego by attempting to belittle Mordred's status as a member of the pendragon family.

As if reading my thoughts "that reminds me Jon, we need to check if there are any of my families vaults in Gringotts. Or at the least search for Albion, there would be a stash somewhere nearby."

Whilst the duo began to make plans for the future they completely ignored Dumbledore explaining the presence of Dementors for the entirety of the year along with how Sirius Black may be close by. Draco on the Slytherin table had found himself slightly isolate due to the event on the train, he was already scribing the incident to his father. As if he could protect him.

Jon and Mordred returned their focus to the announcements when Lupin and Hagrid were awarded their teachers positions. After that they started a fresh eating competition shocking the new first years who were watching the twins stack their plates as a means to tally the score. Money was being exchanged under the table as the betting began.

The professors were paying a lot of attention as well, if you looked closely you could see professor Flitwick swiping some coins from professor vectors hands. The match ended in another draw when Dumbledore had enough and commanded the elves to cease giving them food. The elves were also slightly pissed that they couldn't defeat the duo's appetite.

Later the third year gryffindors occupied a corner in the common room were they could get more caught up with each other unimpeded by the professors and other houses.

Harry and the other boys slipped up to their room to taste some wizard sweets that changed their voices and made funny effects. Jon remained downstairs and discussed the elective classes with the Gryffindor girls.

Alchemy, Arithmancy, ancient runes, ancient studies, care of magical creatures, divination, apparition, muggle studies, mythology and more were available to study.

The headmaster decided in his wisdom that a student is only allowed to choose a maximum of three unless he personally says otherwise. So Jon chose Alchemy and Ancient runes for himself as they are the most useful to him. He knows the theory from all the books he's pilfered but his practical has a long way to go. Alchemy is taught by McGonagall or Dumbledore depending on the topic. Ancient Runes is covered by professor babbling.

Mordred chose to take Arithmancy and Ancient studies. They both chose mythology due to them having some experience on the topic. Mordred has her memories from the grail regarding different members of the throne of heroes and Jon was a weeb. Both have a lot to contribute to the topic.

Jon read the lesson plan beside Hermione who was eager to discuss the topic. Famous alchemists, base metals, noble metals, celestial bodies and planetary alignments, the three primes and four states of matter, the necessity of custom tools and a study into atomic knowledge are what will be covered in alchemy this year.

There will also be in-depth study of various topics covered by Albus multi name and title Dumbledore. These include metaphysical genesis, desert invasions, the preservation and conjunction with science, breathing techniques, shamanism and superstitions, alchemical marketing and scientific separation. No practical with Dumbledore~

Ancient runes will cover a lot in the first semester; the guide to translation, the elder futhark, Odinism and the study of Nordic Aett which covers Freya, Heimdall and Tyr are covered in the first four months since Dumbledore changed the schedule. Ancient runes and Alchemy could be taken in second year in the past.

The second semester will cover more practical rune work. The younger futhark, the Anglo Saxon futhork, bindrunes, magical tune writings and inscribing artifacts and objects will be covered then.

For mordred she will be studying numerology and Grammatica before determining her heart and social numbers for the next few years. So she starts with A level mathematics and combines it with some forms of fortune telling. Next year Arithmancy will help with personal spell craft.

Ancient studies however ticked her off once she saw what the topics were for the year. Three guesses for who appeared in her head~

First the subject begins with magic vs religion, ancient Egyptians magic, the pyramids of ancient Egypt, the light of Alexandria, curse breaking introductions, ancient Mesopotamia, the hanging gardens of Babylon, the tower and the scroll of Babel and the end of all things as stated for the Egyptians.

Some of the subject carries over into mythology studies that both of the kids will be taking. They will discuss cults and the creation of myths, the Egyptian pantheons, the afterlife, ancient Sumer, Sumerian mythology, Babylon and Enuma Elish, the Hurrians and the Hitties followed by mythological trends.

So this years is gonna be intense for them.
