Pleasant date eve

A few more memories from the disk kept playing as we watched them intently. Jane kept reviving her memories and shared her feelings about them. It was wonderful to hear her talk about her days, the ups and downs, the good and bad.

I'd listen everything she said and added a few words and sentences of my own from my childhood.

"I know right? Waterworld was the best movie to ever exist in those days. I practically begged my mom to let me go watch it with my friends, but she never did. So I secretly dug a hole on the wall outside the theatre and watched the movie from there." I said, snickering later at that memory.

"Oh my lord! Really!? Did you get into trouble for that?" she inquisitively asked me and I shook my head.

"Not at all. There were barely anyone outside because it kept everyone so glued to their seats, even the workers of the theatre kept watching the movie even though they saw it like...a hundred times since it's release."

"Whoa. But yes, it was a wonderful movie." Jane said and we both resumed watching the DVD.

*Tring tring!*

"Time's up." The voice of the tatted old man said through the studio mic. I groan in distress which muses my mate, so I keep acting and hissing from and finally stop when we collect our pen drive and get going.

"You must be tired, baby." she merely nods at me but keeps walking, her hands encircled around my arm.

"Then shall we rest at the palace?"

"No." oh?

"Why not? Don't you wanna rest for awhile?"

"No I want to, but just not at the palace Ron." oh, alright.

"Then...at my house?"

"Hmm...also no, sorry." I open the door for her and help her in. I walk to my side and get into the driver's seat with Jane beside me, who's putting her seatbelt on.

"Then where else?" I ask whilst tucking her hair behind her ear. By this time, its just become a habit of mine to keep fixing things on her and caress her without my body sensing about it.

"I was thinking of somewhere more...private." she says, looking at me sideways. She notices my confusion and makes it decisive.

"We can rest here, in the car." she points her thumb backwards.

Dirty thoughts...go away. Please.

I barely manage to hide my smirk, letting out a very sarcastic-sounding cough.

"What? You don't like the idea?" she speaks as if I've offended her, but that wasn't even the actual case.

"No, no! Oh my honeycomb, it's just... I wasn't being proper. Leave it." I dismiss her confusion immediately.

"Car-resting it is. Let's drive to somewhere 'more private' then." I say and start the engine, intending to take us to the middle of the highways.

The sunset colors the sky with orange and red hues all over, an hour of driving had the colors fade into light purple and then finally setting on a midnight blue for the night.

Stars litter around on the dark expanse of the sky, the moon shining brightly by our side, as if smiling upon us.

I quickly thank the moon goddess for providing me with everything, good or bad because I've learnt so much from everything she's offered me. And now, she's offered me my mate. I'll never let anyone down, making her unhappy is none of my desires.

"There." she points to a spot a few yards to the front, under a huge abandoned red oak tree.

"Alright." I say and pull over, parking the vehicle under the cool shade of the tree. We could see the night sky in front of us, illuminated with white and yellow dots of the sparkling stars on the blanket expanse.

Jane is first to crawl to the backside and giggle cutely at me, patting the space beside her. I abandon my suit coat and release my neck from the tie, throwing it on the coat on the seat and fitting myself through the space, finally joining my mate who immediately nudges her nose in my nape.

Her hands encircle around my neck and I try my best to calm thyself down.

"Jane you're killing me, woman." I comment where she cheekily smiles and grins, pressing her lips on mine. It doesn't take me much initiation as I flip her onto my lap, her legs straddling my hips.

"Hmm...I like this."

I hum as well.

"Do you, princess?"

"Yes. Very much." she says and we both chuckle. Our session doesn't continue further, stopping when she turns her head away and leans on my chest.

"How does it feel until now, honey bear?"

"The date?"

"Y-yes..." I was indeed, anxious of her answer.

"I feel...me. Not the Princess Jane, but...just me, the 'real' me." her thoughts about this are sappy, but none goes unappreciated by me. I coo and rake my fingers through her hair smoothly, the long black, silky strands flow out and settle on her back. I pull her towards me and make her comfortable on my chest, her head close to my nape as she purrs like a kitten.

"I'm glad you're feeling yourself (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), darling."

We fall into a comfortable silence for the next twenty minutes. My eyes were lulling shut when a sudden spark of great light falls on my lids, alerting me awake.

"Huh?" Jane notices my fidgetiness, enquiring and looking around with me.

"What? What happened?" she cups my cheeks to calm me down.

"I s-saw something light up—" I suddenly cut myself.

"What? Ron, you're scaring me." her fear is obvious, and so is mine. But I have to be strong and protect her from any possible danger.

She taps my thigh.

"Wha-" our eyes are wide as we look into the direction she's been pointing with a shaky finger.

A Gridge...

God dammit.

"Jane, be quiet." I shush her and bring her close and off the lights in the car. The Gridge's back faces us, the creature looking elsewhere.

But then, it's head turns a 180, a frightening scene to watch.

Jane tries to scream but my hand pressed against her mouth muffles the noises along with my powers. I sense hot liquid pooling into the crevice of my hand, and I begin to feel useless.

I think it's time I set things in place and keep her safe.
