*Ratatata*

The rain poured down heavily from the dark night clouds.

I escaped. I finally did it.

Erin's knees felt so weak and tired. She tumbles on asphalt concrete ground along with the unknown boy.

She is now in a different place. There are no trees with small insects that bite her wounded skin. But that doesn't matter anymore. This place is not the same one she saw back there.

This is not the plantation anymore.

She remembered that the boy who is with her and lots of blood flowing from his wounds that he got from being shot. But she won't have any strength left to move after the long run she made out of the plantation.

Pray, pray, and pray.

Maybe that's the only thing she could do right now. She prayed that the boy would still be alive and there would be someone who will be willing to help them.

'I like you so don't die' The last words of the boy kept repeating on her mind.

This is the first and only person who said that they like her full of sincerity and passion in his voice. And that is from a boy who she only help by chance and she didn't even know his name.

But somewhat it made her feel something within her heart that she never felt before in her life.

'Please stay alive.' The only thing in her thoughts before her consciousness fades away.

Sounds of a screeching car halt within the place where Erin and Lucas are lying unconsciously.

"Why did we stop Sir? The plantation is up ahead"

"I've seen someone on the side road, reverse the car, Lucio,"

"Yes, sir" Lucio then reverses the car and his eyes widen when he two kids lying unconsciously on the ground. He immediately removed his seatbelts.

"Oh, dear Lord! Why are these kids doing here!? The boy has blood on him!" Lucio immediately dialed his phone to call for medics then he does the first aid to the boy. Inspector Marez also went out of the car.

With the light from the car, he saw trails of blood from a certain direction. He looks back to the kids then to the trail of blood. His eyes squirmed as he clenched his fist.

"Call more backup, this night will not end with simply getting rid of the fire,"

Erin slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw is a white ceiling. She turn her head to the right when she heard a beeping sound. The hospital? She thought. Then the boy that helps her came to her mind. She rises from her bed to look for the boy. As she looks on her left side, she sighs in relief when the boy is lying in a bed beside her. But she is still worried when she saw the bandages covering him.

"Oh! Thank God you're awake!" She was interrupted by a nurse that went to check her. Behind the nurse, two men wearing black coats are now looking at her intently. Erin grasped the bedsheet of her bed as she moves backward. Her eyes held fear as she looks at them.

The three adults look at each other with pity and sadness in their eyes. Though the police manage to rescue the children at the plantation their traumas would take time to heal.

"Deary, don't worry we will not hurt you. I am a nurse here named Joana and the two gentlemen behind me are Police Officer Lucio and Inspector Merez." The nurse whose name is Joana started to get closed with Erin.

"They're police? Then-then are they going to arrest me?" Erin said with a shivering voice. Did they find out I started the fire? Am I going to be put to jail?

Nurse Joana and the other two police were surprised to hear Erin's voice then a heartily laugh erupted. It came from the oldest in the group, Inspector Merez.

"And why would we arrest you, young lady?" Inspector Merez asked as he looks directly towards Erin. Though, he already knows what this girl has done based on the information he got from the other children. Especially those four who are very worried about her.

"I'm the one who started the fire, and it is stated under Section 1 of Arson, Any person who burns or sets fire to the property of another shall be punished by imprisonment."

The other three were once again surprised but this time their eyes held amazement.

"Then you already know that would you did is wrong, young girl. Therefore we will now arrest you with the criminal case of Arson, "

"Yes," Erin slump her head.

"Huh! Sir! With all due respect..." Lucio wanted to retort but he was stunned by the following words of Inspector Merez.

"But because you save many lives, with accordance of the Hero Act Law, your sin has been pardoned, "

"Eh...?! Do we have a law like...oofff" Lucio zipped his mouth when Inspector Merez glared at him.

"Did you hear that deary, it means you will not be put to jail..." Nurse Joana said.

"Re-really?" Erin said with a trembling voice.

Nurse Joana held Erin's hand. "Yes, deary, and after a few more tests, you will be brought to the Welfare orphanage and see some of your frie..."

"No! I don't want to go to the orphanage! I better go to jail than to the orphanage!"

"But your friends are already there, And the boy who is with you will also go there," Nurse Joana tried to calm Erin.

Erin stands up, the IV chord fluid on her hand was forcefully removed as she runs to the boy's side.

"Deary!" Nurse Joana shouted in panic.

"No, we will not go to the orphanage! I will not let you take him there!" Erin shouted as she raised both her hands as if protecting the boy who is unconscious behind her. Blood is dripping down on her left wrist where the IV fluid was injected before.

"Deary! It's dangerous! A lot of blood is dripping from your wrist!"

Nurse Joana tried to approach her but Erin just dodges her. Lucio also tried to catch her, but the young girl was just too stubborn and flexible.

Inspector Merez, look at the continuous blood dropping on Erin's wrist. He sighs before he speaks. "You will not go to the orphanage."

Erin stops moving which makes her caught by Nurse Joana. The nurse immediately treats the wound of Erin. Erin felt that her consciousness is fading again.

"I will adopt you, you and that boy," These are the last words she heard from the Inspector before her consciousness fades away again.
